I have very little faith in the Northern Hemisphere referees at this point. I am just watching SA vs ARG and 11 minutes in one of the SA players jumps into the air as he is about to be tackled, is tackled in the air which should be a penalty to Argentina instead of against them.

On another note, the Black Ferns looked excellent and thumped the Walleroos before the AB's game, it was an enjoyable match.

You know more than me, but if a player is tackled while he is in mid air, isn't that a dangerous tackle and in your example is a penalty against the tackler i.e. against ARG?

Sure, if you are jumping as a contest to the ball. If you already have the ball, and you run toward the defense and just as they are about to tackle you, then that definately wouldn't be a penalty as you created the issue yourself. If that was a penalty, you could avoid being tackled ever pretty much.

Trophy gone, Number One standing gone, Bledisloe at risk. Are we seeing an end of an era?

What trophy? For Wales to be number one in the world is a laugh out loud joke. They haven't beaten us since the 1950's.

Let's see what happens on Tuesday, and next Saturday :)

Australia won rugby championship in 2011 and 2015. We all know what happened next.

Right, so we will know Tuesday if we really lost that number one ranking for more than a day or two.

How does this team (now and the last year or so) compare to the days of Richie and Dan etc etc  before they all retired after the last RWC?

It's pretty hard to judge since world rugby seems to have cottoned on to the rush defense and it's much harder to play. This team lacks the composure that DC and RM era teams had simply based on RM's sheer force of will. I think the loss of Wayne Smith (coach) can't be over estimated (and his replacement Scott McLeod hasn't been that great in my opinion) and behind the scenes we have been working on secret squirrel plans to defeat the rush defense but I don't know has been that succesful.  We aren't quite as good in some areas and there has been a lot of chop and changing. The AB's seem to be leaving their run quite late, but I am not yet too worried. I am not sure we can win the RWC in our current state but if the plans of the coaches come together, combinations click, and disclipine improves, there is still a reasonable chance.

I think Kiwi's have been unbelieveably spoilt in that the AB's have been so dominant for so long and I feel we really need to repay their unbeleiveable record, by showing both some faith and understanding if they aren't quite as good as we would like them to be. It's easy to be fan when we are winning, real fans are fans who are still fans even when we aren't.

What people don't seem to consider is that up until the 39th minute, despite having only 20% of the possession and territory, the ABs had scored two tries to the Wallabies one and were only three points adrift.
The Wallabies were definitely playing better and I believe would probably have still won the game, even against 15 players.

There will be lots of yellow and no doubt a few red cards at the RWC. Teams will need to know how to win with a man short.
The era is ending this year if for no other reason than the number of players and coaches leaving after the RWC.

I am not certain about not winning, as you say with 20% possession and territory we were 3 points adrift. We have taken a long time to get the motors going this year and people forget you need to break a team down. It would have been close, and that was the most complete Australian performance in I am not sure how long, but a very long time. I guess we are going to have to wait and see what happens next week.

Locking stocks are pretty low. I think I'd be inclined to call on Romano. He's a bit long in the tooth, but he is experienced and can be a bit of a battering ram. He has plenty of Rugby smarts, esp at lineout time, an area we are exposed with Cane and Savea being down on height. He could be called up to play 40 minutes and then bring one of the lesser experienced guys on in the second half, once they start to break down the defense a bit.

Can't answer that but I can tell you that before the last RWC, the ABs were playing a lot better this team before this RWC.

Having said that, a knockout competition really starts at the knock out stage.

This. Without the red card, who knows what might have happened - would the Wallabies choke like they normally do in the second half? Would they have managed to turn up the heat in the 10 mins when ABs are down to 14?

But fear not, all will be answered Saturday week.
