That's gutting. Frizzel is a great player also, shame we won't be seeing more of him playing for the Mako!

I think he is great at SR level, he never really impressed me at Test level. He had a few moments of being fantastic followed by far too many of not really being present.
What a difference a couple of weeks makes. Dead last on the table to now middle of the pack.
Good to see Canterbury starting to build back up again after the weakest season start I can remember.
Tasman still look considerably stronger though, they will have to fight hard to get up there.
@handle9 the latest 1014 video showing carry stats for the AB's forwards vs England makes for sobering reading. Those guys are monsters. Owen Franks stats showed why it's likely he was dropped.
I suspect there may be quite a few games with low scoring finishes this RWC, more so than last cup potentially. Could easily become a defensive world cup in many ways.
I am like a kid on Xmas night can't wait.

Yeah it was an interesting video, as was the one on the change in the All Blacks pattern.
I'm of two minds about the low scoring part. Defences have definitely evolved but the cup is being played in hot weather on hard tracks. It'll be interesting to see what impact fatigue has.
where's the video?

Yeah, for some reason, I thought the AB's were going to spend a month in Japan but they have only really been there 10 days. Most the other teams have been there longer. Humidity will be the big one. 2015 RWC in UK was on the whole nice weather. Some teams have been training with baby oil and similar to simulate the moist conditions and I feel that perhaps a fair percentage of the tier one teams have prepared for the environment better. Could be wrong.
I thought the splitting the rush defence thing was quite good. I noticed it a bit in the Tonga and Eden Park game but wasn't aware it was a specific strategy.
Batman:where's the video?
Youtube. Search for spark sport
The rush defense video is on stuff
One thing about the 1014, is that whilst I do like to understand what's happening, and the rules, analysis this indepth does remove some of the magic from the game somewhat for me. It's a bit of a tricky one.

I don't understand a thing they were saying. I just watch the game. There are Two teams. Different colour Jersey. One mass of people try to get past the other mass by passing backwards or kicking or just run past them. The systems are too complicated. And when someone had done it, they don't say I've done it. Cos they were only trying. But we know they'd done it.

I guess for me reading this post is like you watching the 1014 - I have no clue what you are saying!
LOL I was going to say something similar :)
On my other ruggers/sports forum guys are quite pessimistic about our AB's chances. They way I see it, I cant see anyone stopping us. And I am seldom confident. But the precision of the back line is like the fine precision and workmanship in the costly Shimano Stella 14000 XG spinning reel and the Precision Gearing is like the grunt of our forwards getting metres in every phase and the HUGE Drag of the Stella is like our Forwards Scrum, nobody is pushing us backward.
I do not see any Giant Trevally that have a chance of busting us off in the reef.
As for the Wallabies, after 36-0 and a reasonably close game against Samoa, it is feasible to see Fiji knocking them out of the pool stage.
Im quietly massively confident 3 in a row.

I don't see much whining after this loss. I see a request for consistency, which seems reasonable. There will always be controversy over Red Cards (or in fact Yellow in most cases) as it has such a major impact of the game. It's rare to see AB's get red cards and the last two weren't contested by them. Fans, maybe a different story, but everyone sees things differently.
Is he refering to the Barrett send off in the first Bledisloe
I thought that was justified. I do believe it was a mistake as he didnt have time to get an arm around before he was trapped to the ground and players falling is very hard to get the aim right when you have other players impacting yourself as well.
And I agree. I didnt hear any moaning at all. Was there some on here? I thought we played damn well. With 20%~ of the ball we went into half time 2 up. Of course a Red card will impact any team. But the aussies havnt taken the Bleds for the life span of some people on here. So they went hard sauce and deserved the win despite our team trying to cover the man down.
But our precision in the back and grunt in the forwards showed up in game 2, 36-0. Against arguably one of the top 4 teams in the world who always lift especially with the chance of gaining some respect and the Bledisloe back. But Eden park, the spiritual home of Rugby Union, never going to happen, not with the team they have. That was a right Crucifixion and ultimately very embarrassing for Australia, who then folllow it up with a meager win over Samoa whilst NZ go on to very nearly score a rare hundy against Tonga with all due respect.
Through all that I never heard any whining about the loss in which we played well but were ultimately short of ball and a man down, its that simple. I dont think we can/should whine about it. Thats life and sh... happens.
To put the ABs in a famous Japanese product class, the AB's are in A5 Wagyu form. Melts in your mouth and you just have to keep coming back for more. mmmmmm !
I don't think Australia played badly in Bledisloe 2, they just got outclassed by the AB's playing to their potential, with more to lose. I honestly don't think any team in the world could have beaten them that night.
The question is, can we still play like this semi consistently and under more pressure?
