Can't answer your question, but since you raised questionable decisions, Stevensons massive kick at the 52 minute (ish), which really put the Chiefs on the front foot, was clearly touching the line as he kicked it. It was even shown on replay and it was ignored, as were at least 2 forward transfers when the Chiefs were in the Crusaders 22 in the second half, one of which led to a try. As you say, *probably* not a game changer, but still quite frustratingly basic things to miss.

I believe with the pace of the game as high as it was, stuff is going to get missed.

I also strongly dislike the 8 minute yellow card review process that the TMO is allowed to go through to upgrade to Red. It negates the transparency currently available to the public about how a decision was reached.

Is that the one where the ref is clearly heard saying “his foot was on the line” (twice) meaning his foot was on the 22m line when he kicked it out on the full? So I can only assume that means he was considered to be “in the 22”. So the 22 is treated like the try line (as in ball touching the try line is a try) as opposed to the the sideline, where touching it is “out”.

I thought Stevenson had made the mistake as well, until I heard the ref. It must be like a no ball in cricket, where your entire foot must be over the line.

Gatland has a *lot* of work to do to get Wales competitive for the RWC I think. They looked so passive and out of sync. This is a long long way from the Wales of yesteryear. The scoreline probably flattered them a fair bit.

Their passing was a huge part of the problem, it was rarely in a place that allowed the receiver to take the ball at pace, often causing them to have to adjust which killed their attacking momentum.  Having said that, they also created a number of pretty decent opportunities that broke down in ways that are relatively easily fixed.

Farrells kicking stats look concerning (he is now under 50% this year). Freddie Stewart is a freak of a man and some of the English ball handling was pretty slick. They butchered a number of tries, but I expect them to do better as they progress. There were a number of forward passes missed by the referees.

Man the Blues looked exceptional against the Highlanders (who were admittedly very poor for large periods of time). Some of the handling was incredible, and Mark Telea ran riot.

Defence has seemingly been optional at the Highlanders for a long time, but they fell of 37 tackles and boy, did the Blues make them pay! It will be interesting to see if the Blues can put in a similar quality performance (even with a lesser score) if faced with sterner defence. If they can, they should be title contenders for sure.

Foster won't apply for reappointment unsurprisingly. Why anyone would expose themselves to a second term of what that man has had to put up with from his employer, and the unhinged NZ public is beyond me.

Leading a sports team should never result in death threats, constant abuse of yourself and your family, and need to fear for your safety, regardless of results.

Whilst I think what Ardie did was pretty poor, I am glad to see he got away with a warning only. Much more would have been an overreaction. Some of the sledging I've heard and heard of, has easily exceeded it for offensiveness. It really set social media on fire though! Seems to have sparked a recurrence of the semi 'lets get rid of the Haka' brigade.

The Blues discipline issue seem to have not been a focus of their review of their season, given how bad it's been already in 2023.

Looks like it's going to be a crazy high scoring season. The new rules are really making the game much faster. I am hoping it doesn't result in significantly more injuries. I think there needs to be a balance between ball in play time and player safety. Fatigued players are more likely to be injured.

Ugh, the Crusaders have had a frustrating start to the season this year.

Even with so many new faces, I would have expected them to close out the game, but as I have lamented so many times, discipline was the nail in the coffin.

Congrats to the Drua who have claimed another scalp. The fans were awesome for them.

What a brutal thrashing England got at the hands of France. To be honest, playing like that, I doubt there is a team in the world that could have beaten France last weekend. They seem to have finally mastered consistency and 80 minute performances missing from French teams ever since I've been old enough to watch them. They could put on the best Rugby you'd ever seen, for 40 minutes, and then the worst, in the second half or vica versa. England were pretty poor, and it's pretty early in the new coaching setup to be expecting miracles, but France were on another level.

Oh my GOD. Joe Schmidt ruled himself of the head coaching role for the AB's. It's almost like he has consistently said this all along and the press took something, and twisted it to sell some inches of newspaper.

Watching Social Media explode was very amusing :)

A great game of rugby between the Hurricanes and the Blues. A poor second half and mistakes in the final 10 minutes cost the Hurricanes the win I reckon. Some pretty dumb decisions, and yellow card to the walking penalty magnet that is Isaiah Walker-Leawere didn't help much either. That Peter Lakai is a phenomenal player and at only 20 will be a force to be reckoned with in years to come, if he fulfils the promise he shows.

Why is this Southland vs. Taranaki game being advertised as a Super Rugby fixture?

It was a super entertaining match I have to say. The Force could have won it. 2 Tries in 5 minutes to the end. I would have hoped to see a bit more heart from the Highlanders toward the end, it felt like they knew it was won, that was enough for them. They conceded a lot of points. I guess baby steps.

Crusaders v Blues at Eden Park from a corporate box was quite cool I have to say. I thought the Blues were going to win it despite the unfortunate circumstances that saw them with 2 yellows for 1 infringement. I also thought the Crusaders were lucky not to have a yellow for an infringement on their 5 meter line as well. It was a hell of a game though, very entertaining, and the Blues put up more more of a fight then in the final, though the Crusaders look very out of sorts. Hopefully they are just on a slow build!

Shaun Stevenson is in the form of his life. He's been pretty classy the last couple of years, but at the moment, he's the man of the competition I think.

Scott Robertson has been named as the new All Black Coach

Robertson has been appointed for four years from 2024 through to the end of the 2027 Rugby World Cup and will succeed current All Blacks Head Coach Ian Foster, who will lead the All Blacks through the conclusion of the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.

“It’s an honour to be named as the next All Blacks head coach,” Robertson said. “It’s a job that comes with a huge amount of responsibility, but I’m excited by the opportunity to make a contribution to the legacy of the black jersey. To represent your country, as a coach or player, is the ultimate honour in sport and it’s humbling to be given that opportunity. I can’t wait.”

Robertson added: “Having significant time to plan for 2024 and beyond is crucial to setting the All Blacks up for success during the next World Cup cycle. I have a job to do with the Crusaders and that will be my main focus through to the completion of Super Rugby, but I will now have the opportunity to work with NZR to get some key appointments in my coaching and management team finalised, so we can hit the ground running next year.“
