Dingbatt: The Chiefs are currently top of the NZ conference :) at least until tonight's game....

And so it is proven. Well played Highlanders! Top of the conference. Blues, not so much......

Horrified at the reffing for the Blues vs Cheetahs. Blues were penalized every 30 seconds for about 20 minutes, Cheetahs get a pretty average penalty and are down a guy for 10 minutes, followed by awarding the blues an absolute shocker of a  call by giving them a try. The blues should have been down a guy for 10 minutes at least and the game would have finished differently.

It's hard to believe what the Chiefs get away with in the Super 15. Week after week they get refs favour and last night was no exception.

Yes I know what you mean. Two tries allowed despite obvious forward passes and a guy sin binned for a leg trip that was nothing more than an attempt to change direction. No wait, all those decisions went in favour of the Brumbies in the previous round and effectively cost the Chiefs any chance of winning the game.

It all depends which eye the patch is sitting over, don't you think?

I didn't see the passes of which you speak even after reviewing, the ball came out of the hands backwards which is the rule now as much as I disagree with it.

Also they got a card for the other infringements which were plentiful and the ref just had enough and put a line in the sand.

What a game Lions v Highlanders. Lions exceptionally unfortunate not to have been allowed that potentially game winning conversion over over illegally running Highlanders ala All Backs v Ireland 2013 Final Game. Chris King will be likely cited for that Elbow to the face, and with his record, I would expect him to be spending some time off the field. Thuggery.

Some difficult decisions to be made over AB selection in the backs this year I think. Piatauau ruled out eases things slightly, but for me Israel Dagg still keeps the 15, he is the best in World Rugby under the ball (Followed closely by Jane then Ben Smith) . Ben Smith would be right wing, Savea for Left Wing. No way 12 won't go to Nonu, 13, I think it's going to be Conrad Smith and Feketoa as a second choice. BB as 1st choice number 10 this year behind Carter who isn't selectable for June, then Cruden. Aaron Smith for 9, Backup Andy Ellis no question in my mind about that. Jane as much as I like him, seems fragile and whilst his form is good, he would be backup in the wingers stakes for me right now. It's a hard call.

Oops unforgiving, I forgot Crotty who has been in amazing form.

Oh dear, that was the most soul destroying display of Rugby I can recall from the Crusaders. How they can lose after the sharks being down to 14 and then 13 men, is beyond me. No killer instinct, terrible handle, wrong decisions when points were on offer.

I suspect the Sharks player is going to be cited and spent 6-8 weeks on the sideline which he well deserves after that disgusting attack.

Total credit to the Sharks who played with serious ticker, that was some display of determination by them.

Wow best night of Rugby I've seen in a while. Close win by the Crusaders but they are now top of the NZ Table and 3rd in the competition, another entrys in the finals looks imminent. I have been unimpressed with Daggs tackling for a bit, but he is still the best number 15 in the world, and makes the tackles that matter!

I am very pleased to see the Hurricanes put together a convincing win over the Chiefs, Barrett really is NZ's #1 First Five right now, if Dan Carter isn't on the scene. There is a fair gap between him and Cruden on form this year in my opinion. Unfortunately I don't see the Hurricanes being able to sustain it well enough to win the competition.

Best night unless you are a Chiefs or Highlanders supporter I guess, because an ugly win is better than a magnificent loss!

In the coulda, woulda, should a file, Cory Flynn's illegal hands in the ruck with the Highlanders hot on attack (missed by Glen Jackson because he was on the other side of the ruck) won the game for the Crusaders. If the ref didnt see it, it didnt happen I guess. Minor gripe in what was a great game.

As for the Hurricanes vs Chiefs, the former (I think I can safely say that after last night's effort) Super XV champions were outplayed particularly in the back line. While the Chiefs squandered every opportunity in the opposition's 22 by either fumbling or giving away stupid penalties, the Hurricanes converted their opportunities into points. Cory Jane had the best game I have seen him play all season and Julian Savea was at his awesome best.

As for the First Fives, Barrett has certainly played better than Cruden in the last 5 weeks :-/

The way things are shaping (because the NZ conference is feeding on itself) the semis wil be in Australia and South Africa the final will likely be in South Africa, so I pity whichever NZ team makes it from that perspective.

Yes I'll admit to Cory Flynns hands being in the ruck, but no guarantee they would have gotten the 3 points from that, and reffing in these situations tends to go around so who knows. Jared H ( I won't even try and spell it) should have got a card for his offense I thought. Takes a lot to get Ritchie upset.

Personally I think the Chiefs are one of the most over rated teams, they are often thugs as denoted by having the most yellow cards by any team in any super rugby season (I've seen at least 3 more that should have been). They play at the limits of the law far too much. I think they are really missing Craig Clarke and SBW. CJ and Savea were on fire last night (Agreed nice to see CJ back on the field and back on form).Reminds me of the AB's vs Ireland where they put 60 points on Ireland. :)

In my opinion there is only one team capable of going to SA to beat the Sharks, and whether you are a fan or not, most would admit it, that team is the Crusaders. They have the best win record away, under the pump they show magnificent and awe inspiring defense and are capable of discipline often found lacking in similarly ranked teams.

Anyone know if Andre Taylors Injury was a broken ankle? It looked excruciatingly painful.

Please, thugs?? How many of the yellow cards were for foul play? Yes, they do play to the edge of the rules and often past it and get penalized. It was the stupidity of carrying out the same offence time and time again ( joining the ruck from the side) and expecting the ref to respond differently.
But I have often said I like it when Ritchie McCaw cheats for the AB'S, but I hate it when he cheats for the Crusaders/Canterbury. All the teams do it, it just depends which eye you have the patch over.

I flipped across to the Warriors game as well. What a revelation when 10-15 minutes of a 80 minute game aren't wasted with scrum resets. They (the resets) really are a blight on the game, as are the technical penalties arising from the scrums. I have a sinking feeling that the next RWC will be decided by one.

The Chiefs are probably over rated and SBW is definitely over rated.
