Looked really amateur, crusaders hardly looked like a clinical unit.

Whats with the blues slapping and shaking hands with each other, should be thinking about the fans who paid to watch them and how they can improve. I miss the days of Auckland being proud of rugby.

A win and a loss to start the campaign no need to panic.

Puts them equal with the Crusaders, 1 Win 1 Loss. Tana made very clear that he is developing for the future, and this means testing combinations and players.

I do firmly believe that pass for the Blues try was forward.

Crusaders are passing too flat and allowing themselves to get under pressure. If their passes are slightly lower and further back it gives them another meter to gain momentum and gives their supporting players more time to reach the breakdown in support.

That run by Nadolo. The poor dude who tried to tackle him was literally thrown back 3m. Was excellent to watch.

The Crusaders are in rebuild mode, but there is plenty of potential. Andy Ellis looks possessed! If he moved like this last year.....

Where are Matt Todd and Mitchell Drummond?

i agree.

but

i have no time to wait. auck need to be n#1 again, and for a lengthy period. where is that kind of depth coming from? i mean look we are using west as a half. we dont have better?

i really wish they would geographically cor-dine teams. im sick of auckland sucking up the manchester utd effect just to please a few nobodiies.

I think it's at least a couple of years before Auckland have built the culture and team effort required for #1 place to be honest. That is only possible with the board staying out of the coaching box and not allowing politics to take precedence over the Rugby playing.

truely sad.

i guess we were arogant in expecting no loss. but those days were not professional where canterbury could buy auckland players. she on kieran imo. although he probably wouldnt have got a run on with auckland and now hes an all black.

Auckland have let a considerable number of talents escape in recent years. Sometimes I wonder what the coaching staff are thinking.

To be fair I don't think the scoreline came close to showing how much more dominant Canterbury was over Auckland in that game. Crusaders just didn't seem intent on capitalizing on what were absurdly unbalanced possession and time spent in opposition half.

I agree. Not convinced on Tim Boys either for the Crusaders, but I'll give him a few more weeks to settle.

the canes just committed foul after foul at the end to stop the blues winning knowing they would eventually make a mistake. the ref should have just called penalty try not a send off. really under arm stuff.

i use to be a canes supporter.

It's actually pretty hard not to earn penalties on your own line in 3 minutes of defense. I thought their defense was outstanding and at the end of the day they lost a player for it, and every other time, the Blues had their chances and didn't take them.

The Blues need to go back to basics. They turned over a lot of ball by not cleaning out the breakdown, effectively gifting the 'Canes turn-over ball.

some would say the ref made a lot of mistakes with penalties.

i guess if it was the all blacks and we won a world cup the way the canes did at the end, id take it. so i cant blame them. but it was way too many for just a send off when the opposition is 1m from the line, its a professional foul. but the blues should have tried spinning it wide on two occassions in that 3m when they had the canes short.

i think the blues will make the finals this year after game 1 and this last game showing more effort despite the loss. the canes needed that win hence the desperation leading to pro foul after pro foul on their own line. they took their oppurtunites earlier in the game as well.

As you say, the Blues had their chances. Had they of gone wide, they probably would have scored. Their decision making is an issue under pressure. The Canes looked weak on defense for most of the game, but boy did they get into it at the end. Despite the penalties, they did a great job holding the line I thought.

I disagree with some that the TMO got it wrong with the knock on. The decision to go with what looked ok in real time was good reffing I'd have to say. I replayed it a few times and there was no frame that had air on both hands between the ball.
