The worst thing about the weekend, aside from when Robson got the ball or kicked, is it will stall Crappies tenure. In fact we will likely finish 9th again and Watson will be happy with that and hire Crappy again.

Well I think the fans could quite easily dent this concept. Im not buying any gear or sub. Toovey is sitting there begging to be picked up, lolohea is there, johnson is there, RTS is there, Luke is there, Fusitua is playing reserves again? WTF gives seriously.

Im happy we won but that was a gimme which looked like we were set to lose at one stage. Anything less than 5 wins in a row against tough teams is not convincing. What do you think Wayne Bennett would expect from his team? (aside from he wouldnt have such a stupid line up and waste talent that is now leaving for Union or other clubs.)

Well done to the team on the field though, individual brilliance and some good team plays.

The Warriors number 6 has annoyed me for years.

I really wanted to see Carlos Tuimavave in there when Maloney left, and Lolohea should have been given a shot at the start of last year when the Townsend experiment didn't work out.  Its a shame Leuluia got injured when he did (which is presumably why they got Robson) and hopefully he comes back into 6 with Johnson returning to 7.  But long term I'd like to see Lolohea in at 6.

Whilst I think Johnson and Lolohea are fantastic talents at this point int time I don't think their style of play compliments each other.  Both are gifted on their feet and have flair and speed but the Warriors are persisting with Robson with the hope that he can direct the team around the field like Maloney used to do.

I can see Johnson and Lolohea playing in the halves together in 3-4 years time when Johnson has lost a step and looks to fill the Maloney type role and Lolohea takes on the role that Johnson plays now.

i think the warriors hopes of GFs will be gone by then. Robson is not filling that spot, which i personally think Johnson was doing last year, look how they played without him. I think its more players were lazy and responding to his high standards.

regardless in the mean time, we just let fusitua go like fisisahi to union or another team and keep wright just to satisfy this Robson science experiment?

play the best player at his position. i get what you are saying about Robson but imo johnson lead the warriors around much better than Robson will. all its going to do is starve johnson and lolohea of the ball and lose one of our best wingers. we won this weekend because johnson got in there ahead of Robson.

they over thought the dream team any other club would dream to have. instead of just playing the players. johnson isnt young anymore, hes already mature enough and can lead the warriors around the park.

At least we have bottom of the table roosters this week? Technically possible to jump into the top 8. Robson for mayor.

99.99% of people (barring scientists and management and coach at the warrriors) thought this was going to be the spine. Its still on the NRL site bahahaha. Adding Robson just kinda drops us out of the 10 best lest alone 5 best spines.

One more thing on the "SJ cant lead the troops around".

Who got the Golden boot and got NZ to #1 in the world at #7, not S Jones, not Robson. Shaun Johnson did.

I think he leads the team around the team fine and is very unselfish at 7 but does take opportunities when he sees them. With Lolohea at 6 if anything it takes the pressure off him having to do be the running half all the time, almost like Chownsend finally became when he left.

Defense is still lacking. 20 points from the last team in the comp, or close to it, thats pretty bad.

We need to learn to defend our line, like practise just that for a month. Then we need to learn if it looks like they have us strapped out wide, keep the player on the ground and give the penalty away, regroup confident a regrouped line can defend it. Just like the big teams do like the Broncos and the Roosters use to for the 3 years they made the GF.

I get your point bigmal and I see the logic in it, my biggest fear is in 3-4 years Lolohea will feel undervalued and will take a big paycheck that he deserves elsewhere. Another warrior lost due to this science experiment. Hes occupying Fusituas spot who isnt even on the bench. Fusitua will follow Fisiahi likely and take a big pay check elsewhere. And all the warriors have done have bought mostly old has beens other clubs didnt want and our really good talent has left the club.

In saying that he looked good on the wing finally. If Ayshford can hold his defense and not put Tui off his, they might be ok. But again, its holding specialists out of a position. I dont think its the way to go. Johnson can lead the team and Tui can take the running load off Johnson.

This weekends game is a better example of the teams state, a medium powered team, us playing at home, should beat them by 20 and let in 1 try at the max. anything less just shows how the warriors are not concentrating on football and trying to learn how to play hop scotch with cappies line up.

Id like to see the team get a coach defense oriented. Its the one thing we have always sucked at. Toovey would be perfect. We arent going to get Bellamy, or Benz.

Spend 2 months practicing goal line defense and no offense. Then learn how to work the system. Ie like on the weekend when Hoffman did what big teams do, hold a player down when you know you are stretched out wide. Knowing that the reformed D will withstand any offense and 2 points is better any day than 6. I could see the professional in him in that play. Something local players dont play.

Imagine if the warriors were a team that only gave away 6-12 max every game. We would have an end of year F/A like the top teams do.

On another note very dissapointed to lose big Ray FM to the doggies during the week. I really enjoyed him playing and thought he was one our best. In saying that, the big unit we are getting is the sort of player we should be buying, not old donkeys and players nobody wants. Im all for, fast, lean 25yo aussie forwards who can play 60-80. Mannering types.

Robson #4 in the comp at missed tackles, didnt we buy a beauty. Try to fix our biggest and longest lingering problem of all time and we introduce one not just in Robson by Aysfhord putting lolohea off by making him come in by not covering his own player.

When will this club learn, buy a defensive COACH. If offense is something you do in your sleep and we have year in year out but your defense costs you more on the balance sheet, get someone to teach you professional rugby league defense, like lying on a player to draw a pro foul when the line is stretched. But more so,how to mark up and stay focused and make Defense your number one passion, what your club stands for, is proud of. Have we ever had a coach outside Anderson, I mean an experienced coach who has played the game and has won a premiership and knows defense wins matches/comps?

Wayne Benz says he teaches his team the Defensive system to his club a long time before he starts talking offense, which can mean a season I suppose.

Good News, Solomone Kata #2 in Tries and Line Breaks. :-)

Finally after that embarrassment on the weekend the coach is forced to play coach not alchemist, the halves are now playing halves and fusitua may stay at the club given hes a far better winger than wright who they keep in first grade. If the salary cap allows a seperate wage for a coach why on earth do the warriors not have a coach, not an assistant coach who got the job due to a sacking? Anyway aside from Ayshford starting, Im happy enough with this, Manu missing is huge though so we really need Hurrell on the field hitting the ball up. Still losing too Manly was just silly errors on late tackles, some dodgy reffing (ie kata grounding) and the players just getting frustrated and SJ not even running the ball once from memory. Better change that against the doggies or it will be 40-10

No pressure on Tui though, dont select him for the easy games, just throw him in against the Team that just beat the Storm who beat us easily. Doggies on fire. Going to be an amazing victory to beat a class outfit like them if it comes off. Got the talent.

We got the offense, but because we lack the defense a 1st grade GF winning coach would select as improving first and solely at the warriors IMO. I reckon Benz would.

I think we 2nd or 3rd on offense 3rd to last on the ladder. Offense means zilch at this level.

I feel everything Ive been rambling on about was vindicated last night in the first 15 mins before RTS got injured and coach went back to the scrap play book and that stupid line up.

Tui and johnson both were running and stepping, Johnson had the team moving, player were in motion before the selected player cut back the line, usually Kata, who was very unlucky I thought especially that first try disallowed. Fusitua was the flying professional winger I said and he looked an experienced old hand at the job, our best winger who coach has kept in reserve grade to the point where Im sure he would have started getting offers like Fisiahi and we would lose him whilst wright and ayshford start (wtf). In saying this I think both wrght and ayshford looked a lot better last night maybe because the team looked like grease lightning that first quarter.

Still Hurrell back to reserve grade to play as a forward. If the rumours of union chasing him are true I feel its only a matter of time and I would begrudge any player making a living, especially in a club that doesnt understand league (im refering to management).

Defense was heaps better last night and close to the level it needs to be maintained at to have any chance of the 8.

Now if RTS is out, I hope Mcfadden uses his brain and what his eyes sore last night and plays wright at FB, and keep the rest status quo with lolohea 6, johnson 7, fusitua wing and hopefully manu back at the other wing. Having players in motion and people who can make line breaks in the middle of the field is way more important than one wing, so whoever has to, plays there. Luke stole so many metres and we even started getting those offloads from him and matulino Ive been on about back to johnson and tui and rts.

Seriously that article about the club not having footy players in management sounds right, they prob know how to make money which is important, but we need decisions made that make sense.

Lets hope or pray this afternoon the news on RTS is good, minimal at best. He will be out Im sure, I just hope its not season. Perhaps time for an IPS player to step up so we dont revert back to the lunacy lineup.

What a great effort from the team to stop that final minute come back that we so often lose. We look like a team that can play 80 mins.

Wayne Benz stated he doesnt go passed his defensive playbook well into a season until they get it. Thats what we need from a coach. I feel sorry for Cappy, was a huge ask stepping up from Assistant coach so soon in his career. We need to sign the best available coach with grand finals and defensive focus and keep cappy back at assistant coach. Imo that Toovey, before the guy gets sick of supping Lates and lounging around Manly beach and take a job offer in Super League. We need to entice him. Hes the hard nose coach our players need.

We were 2nd in most points, 2nd in most tries and 13th on the ladder (worst defense). You only have to point that out to someone who doesnt know league and they would say clearly they need to focus on defense. Enough putting it off, the fans paying the wages deserve it.

Lolohea FB, come on man? ;-p

Wright has played plenty of FB, hes the tallest player in the team and is damn good under the high ball, he is reliable.

If it means keeping Tui at 6 and Fusitua on the wing then its the right call. Its not like they havent played it before.
