old3eyes: I believe that they lightened their boat but sacrificed stability.

And extended the foils somewhat. AKA copying another TNZ innovation

I gather Spithill is a top sailor, but he's being beaten at the start. I feel their boat before the changes is not as stable and "steerable" as ours, giving us gains at the start. These races are a bit short, start first, you win type of thing. Bit like pole at Monaco in Formula 1.  But, like F1, this is innovation at its best, and IMHO, the innovators are winning

Not whole races, but there are highlights on the Americas Cup FB/Twitter.

I heard a good sound bite this morning. Something along the lines of Spithill no longer being at the helm of a boat, he's now skippering a science project.... No doubt the changes made during those 5 laydays have improved their speed, but it has clearly come at the cost of boat control. 5 days does indeed allow enough time for extensive modification, but in my opinion they probably need about a month to fine tune those mods and get to grips with what they mean for boat handling.

At this stage the Americans have about 18 hours to sort it out. I am cautiously optimistic that this won't be enough....

MurrayM:

Is there anywhere where I can view today's (Monday's) second race? I've read that the start was very interesting but I wasn't able to watch it (delayed) on Prime as I had to head to work before the second race and I don't have Sky to watch it live.

The official AC Youtube channel doesn't seem to have the races (that I could see), only the news conferences, etc.

Is there anywhere else that has the races recorded?

You can watch the races live on the official AC app, if for some reason your device's GPS is malfunctioning and it thinks it's in a country that doesn't have Sky.  There is an $11.99 charge for the current race series.

BBC iPlayer has the races in full in their daily summary, but that's about 36 hours after the vent due to time zones etc

Thanks for the info. I've got iPlayer access so I'll look into that.
