Tactics.Tom says he wants to use seamers so they end the day due to light. Plan now is manage the light to help avoid playing 90 overs per day for 5 days to help a draw? Two draws in India is big to WTC

Edit, or start afresh tomorrow where taking wickets with fresh bodies will help? Hard to know how they can catch up the lost session off the second session was cut short. They played 69 overs? 78 was the plan.

Thats is a let down for the fans who turned up and waited up in NZ and across the world, not from Tom, that was smart from him, but the light was plenty good enough for seamers. Oh well, could save NZ again haha.

great stuff from Ind, 4 down for not many could have crumbled, but again, somebody saves it, NZ lacking the punch to take wickets on a wicket that is known to be enjoyed by both pace and spin. I thought Jamieson might have done better with his height and the great bounce on this pitch. Once the swing was not appearing, I knew Southee wouldnt offer much and without the 10ov spells of Wagner digging it in chest high to aggravate that 5th and 6th wicket, it just wasnt going to happen.

So, the question is, how many do Ind put on given whatever they score is likely more than enough for NZ vs their spinners who unlike Somers, will be hitting the dime every delivery. We shall see.

So are we planning to halt play as soon as we can each day? I guess that the rules, but what a sport. Weird way to use technology for a third umpire decision, stop play if thats suits a draw? Thats hardly cricket lol and ironically.

70 overs it was. Meant to be 78, so we are 20 down with 4 to play, maybe 20+ down with 3 to play? Even if its still 20 down or 18 down with 3 to play thats tough to make up. And as it will still be hot, its a long day for bowlers, which probably was a big issue for us today. Fatigue. You take elite sportspeople and deduct a few % points, thats a big cut in top level of any sport.

Im not sure if it hurts NZs points being behind, NZ bowled the 70 over minimum. So dont think so. But yes, absurdly against the point of cricket using technology in hypocricy situations. They really need to look how technology fits in the benefit of making test cricket pleasing to the fans who pay the bills and how also it fits in with the spirit of the game.

Blundell missed a catch and what was a regulation stumping. Could be costly, I forget if either were the centurion early on.

Again, a guy who averages 30, pulls out a blinder century to save India.

I stand by this is the pitch you play Wagner on, bounce, thats how they play them in NZ, especially the basin when nothing else is happening, set the catchers and 12 overs of bounce sessions, will always see the key wickets we are missing fall. When only one spinner is doing his job, may as well replace one with a guy who will produce wickets, apply same logic that has worked for us on any bounce wicket.

Hopefully with the humidity and the new ball soon, KJ and southee can pull 2 wickets out of it. Not sure how Tom will manage the next 10 overs, whether to bowl pace, maybe 2 overs each in the 10 and 6 to patel before the new ball. Somers and Rachin need to pull up their bowling socks, terribly dissapointing.

Ajaz deserves a fifa at his birth place city. What an awesome city it is.

Ajaz Patel. Nice to see that he is finally performing in this test match. Makes me worried when NZ bats. If the pitch is doing this now and getting wickets imagine India spinners doing this to us. They are going to be so lethal and accurate I don’t think NZ can cope.

Im saying PLUMB live, on ya bike son.

I do wonder how we would have gone with Sodhi despite being labelled white ball only, hes our best wrist spinner and only one who has all the tricks in the bag, doesnt bowl the leggy nearly enough. Somerville, especially after the last test, was a total waste of a spot for me, total waste.

Oh here we go, you cant review clean bowled Ashwin, you like fun and games, eat that. Nobody crossed the umpires eyes there. lol Hattrick time

3 good balls there from Somers. Put it in the air Somers, real sticky icky icky !!!

Always 10x better with the hoop.

Surprised Axar left the one straightened on 5th stump, Somers looked surprised too. If he does that to one thats on 4th and doesnt turn much he will lose the top of off.

But does show you on a bouncy wicket the likes of Zampa and Sodhi can do in white ball. Patel with the wrist spin getting the top spin to move it on fast and 3/4 to get it to hurry on but also turn. He doesnt turn it like Zampa/Sodhi, which makes him more consistant to have to play.

Hope Rachin gets one over just so we see what hes got today before the new ball. If Ind all out by 270, NZ not out of the game, but eeek facing 3 bowlers that will make you play every delivery, will require a miracle.

Southee swing immediately, just too full and not full enough to york.

Was the last ball made of concrete... lol

Id say would be tempting to go around wicket to the left hander for the edge with offside field and 3 slips.

edit: with Ind's strong positive run rate anything up around 100 overs and I think NZ batted out of the game. I think we pretty much at that point now. Outside Taylor and Nicholls standing up and Mitchell justifying being ahead of GP.

Black Caps have a very talented team, but we seem to cave in. "choke". The classic example was Ravindra. I was totally impressed with him. So you are playing like a veteran. Then he plays a silly cross bat and is out. Thats Kiwi cricket in a nutshell. While we punch above our weight, throwing stuff away is also common. Sports Psychology? Maybe we dont have that nailed yet.

Ajaz. His slight variation is magnified by this pitch. I think a Zampa or a Sodhi might turn the ball too much on this, although Warne loved extreme grip pitches.

Somerville should have been much bettter on this. Been a let down, there is no other way to some it up given it was controversial to keep out NZs and the worlds number 1 left hand seamer who can bowl 10 over spells with 95% into the pitch with the same accuracy demading the batsman plays at the chest bouncers.

Thanks.

Ajax 6 as a i posted. That Southee and KJ have not got wickets says something. Wags goes for the jugular not the stumps normally.

Having said that Doullie states that KJ is not the finished product. Maybe. Maybe also its not a seamers wicket. Bit harsh

So 263/6 after 91 overs, basically Day 1 but its after day 1. Will India authorities find a way to get 450 overs over 5 days?
