Haha well done Ajaz, only spinners get 10 wickets in a match. Serious effort at his birth place. Given no Wagner to bowl 10ov spells he has had to carry the team with a crappy finger spinner selection and Southee having no luck with the 3/4 ball and Jamo not up to his usual isane levels of wicket taking.

All Ajaz, but 100 runs too many. Need another tight bowler like Wagner strangling Ind out for 100 less, far too many runs given away.

NZ will be miraculous to get close to this score. I hope they dont let the spine settle and go hard at their pies and not block them.

Imagine if Wagner was playing this match Ajaz probably would have not got a 10 wicket haul for this innings.

NZ need to score at least 500 runs to have a chance at getting a win.

Freaking hell. I thought you were a cricket fanatic, and passionate as.

I felt that Ajaz was an ok finger spinner    crappy finger spinner selection

Stats say thats correct but they also say that Southee and KJ got 0 wickets

Its roughly 1.25 days so roughly on par. If NZ get a similar total, then its still on par. But if we get 4.4 RR as some might suggest... then easy :-)

Its India its tough., Bat conservative see what happens, with wickets and the track, then review

And sometimes I wonder if Eng is your first language ;-p. you always seem to get what Im saying mixed into some of your only little tale on things, I said finger spinner, clearly referring to the finger spinner slected not the wrist spinner which Ajaz is so think first, clearly Im refering to Somerville.

And Doc, yes if Wagner was out there Id say he would have strangled 3 wickets, Im sure Ajaz would have dominated though. But what Wagner would have done is limited the runs by 100 or so and taken some of the work off Ajaz who was tiring with Wagner capable of 10+ ov spells easy.

Ajaz showing why Ive been saying what is the point of selecting Santner who doesnt offer above or below bat/bowl avg of 30.

May as well select Ajaz or Sodhi, with Ajaz spinning it less than Sodhi you get more accuracy, Sodhi being more of a serious leg turn bowler, surprisingly doesnt bowl the leg turn which he turns nearly sidways.

Anyway hopefully this changes how NZ thinks about spinners and using wrist spinners not dibbly dobblies.

I hope Mitchell shows why he was selected over GP with the bat. Big call to replace KW, but so would have been GP. Id have considered Ross back to 3 and GP to 5 instead of Mitchell. But that wasnt as big a call as giving away 100 runs with a finger spinner who bowled 80% outside the line he should be, that pitch map was shockingly awful from Somerville, I almost feel sorry for him, just not up to test level.

What idiot would suggest that  vs Ind spinning?

Personally im with the majority of cricketing finatics who agree NZ 2rpo from the first test is too slow. Ind score about par. They were at 3.5rpo, but anything at 3rpo from NZ is doing well and will keep us potentially in the game, if we cans survive 100 overs, of which 80 will be accurate spin. Only way to stop the accuracy is to now "let" them settle by using intent. Intention to score and not let settle.

Not great that we already lost a wicket.

What are they saying about the pitch in terms of batting wise. Is the pitch still going to be good batting wise for today and tomorrow?

Length length length, what NZ seamers didnt use on a tennis ball bounce pitch. Brilliant delivery, that was a Wagner type wicket. Yes harping on, but if you carry the guy on tour, this is the wicket you play your arguably best seamer surely. Makes no sense.

Brilliant cutter from Siraj.

bahaha yep, tennis ball bounce. Why could KJ not extract his finger cruncher on this and I am in dispear not bowling the bowler most known in the world for bowing continuous bouncers in Wagner. I really feel our selection last 2 tests has left NZ from doing something they need to, to be able to be taken serious outside of NZ. I standby saying Wags would have reduced all Ind innings by 100 runs. Especially this pitch, prob the best pitch in the world for his consistant accuracy at the chest.

Gotta say, the home umpires must be running at about 20% correct decisions this series. Never seen so many reviews stand up or not lose a review or simply missed by the umpire or simply gotten wrong by the umpires and not challenged. Bizarre.

Ross, that is school boy cricket missing a ball going straight onto top of off. Maybe he is past it. Lets see if Nicholls can do any better. This is getting embarassing.

That was an easy and obvious decision, landed well out of line.

Doc thats where offering a shot the ball has to land in line. If he offered no shot, he was prob gone as was hitting knee roll. likely hitting leg/middle.

edit: bit hard on ross, he did play the line. i thought it was straight.

Question is, why could NZ not get any deviation, given this pitch is known to offer for both seam bowling and spin. Would have thought this was a wicket for Jamo to really shine, maybe just not bowling at the top of off enough with a 5th stump line, hoping for seam deviation.

Haven't heard. Nothing has changed much if at all from when we bowled. so 17/3 is a bit sad. Not quite up to it it seems.
