Re talent we have it back but our delicate cricket mentality doesn’t allow us to execute well. Lower pressure we do but that’s generally against a lower tier side
Per capita we are miles ahead of any other side.

Is it some kind of special day in wellington? Im not there today.
If not thats a pathetic looking crowd for a Saturday afternoon in the sun. I know its a big stadium but even so, 5k Id say at the most. Hopefully they pile in tonight.
WOW Sodhi, thats the line for the Wrongin, through the gate. Keep bowling them. Gorgeous to watch wrist spin. What an art to get the ball going the opposite way.
tdgeek: Wasp 254 this game is getting away from us. It’s a bowlers game and they are only 3 down at 33 overs
When I looked at that hay pile pitch I thought 240 would be a good score. If they get 260 I reckon we might struggle.
They have a great launching pad now.
I totally agree we are way ahead of any country per capita for talent, but generally thats the same in most sports, even Soccer considering how many countries play it, to make a world cup and not lose a match was a great acheivement.
The worst thing for our precious Union is if the USA keep getting better, I think they are gaining more interest in the sport too.
Id love to have Butler in our team as keeper. Although we keep ignoring Phillips who keeps producing good scores in provincial cricket, which would be that extra batsman if you played latham as a batsman soley.
But Butler is incredible, then you have Woakes. They just have great all rounders.
Perfectly placed carrot their by Sodhi and perfectly placed fielder by Williamson.
Thats the Scary thing about being a wrist spinner, so many times you can either get a wicket or get hit for 6. Im sure Shane Warne would have something to say about what it takes mentally to stick to the plan.
Eng should put the foot down now, even with 5 down and 9 overs, they have plenty of players who can close out the 9 at 7-8RPO.
tdgeek: So if Santner was hit for a 6 it’s bad but for Sodhi is ok?
huh? see you are stuck on Santner. I dont see how the 2 are linked. Santner bowls finger spin which barely turns. His game is accuracy. He did well earlier after Root had his number. Santner and Sodhi are chalk and cheese, Sodhi is closer to Shane Warne, Santner is a finger spinner like Vettori, just not the variances in spin. Finger spinners generally are there for economy.
what a delivery from Sodhi there, saw Butler coming and bowled the stumping but he actually hit it, so good keeping from Latham. Sodhis taken 3 very big wickets in this match, runs are unimportant when you can take the big names.
That Woakes wicket will really reduce the potential Eng total. Im sticking with 240 I claimed from the start. I think that will challenge NZ either way.
Edit: FANTASTIC again from Southee closing out the innings, his wide yorkers putting them under pressure ultimately creating wickets. They might struggle with the 240 now.

Lol you are stuck on Santner! Crazy comments
Santner should be dropped as he bowls what kids get taught. Crazy.
I didnt bring him up. I dont see whats crazy about it, anyone who has played cricket knows a genuine leg break is a wicket taker and finger spinners being a less skilled able to turn the ball, generally are there to keep the pressure on with accuracy. Whats crazy?
Santner doesnt turn the ball a lot with his Left Arm Orthodox spin which is why hes not a massive wicket taker of the likes of Derek Underwood who averaged about 25. So again his role is not used to take wickets, Williamson uses him to keep the run rate down relying on his extreme accurate length (have a look at his pitch map). Sodhi on the other hand turns the ball both ways a lot, he also gets a lot of bounch and then you through the other leg break options in there and its their ability to confused the batsman with not knowing whats being delivered next that takes wickets, like the brilliant wronging that went through the gate of one of the top 5 best ODI batsmen. On other occasions a captain will use the extreme spin hoping the batsman mis hits the ball due to it being very hard to middle a turning ball, which is why the commentators complimented both Williamson for the field placement and Sodhi for the guts to throw a carrot ball.
Your making up statements I havnt said. Kids get taught how to bat, so we drop all our batsmen? The fact is Santner has kept at finger spin and become very accurate. Thats never been his issue, the issue was he promised a lot with the bat as an all rounder and for a while was failing. That at the moment looks to be on the up. So hes of no discussion anymore.
You need to let this Sodhi vs Santner thing go, they play VERY different roles, the only thing they have in common is they bowl different forms of Spin. Thats it, full stop.
And also dont misquote people its against forum rules.
tdgeek: Based upon the pathetic comments here I will join the others and unsubscribe.
Do as you wish, I think you maybe surprised what people think of your own comments. Nobody is forcing you to comment.

I dont misquote. Read YOUR thread and evaluate what others think of your posts. Sadly I did, and it was a hoot. You change your mind on the whim of a game or an over or a ball Ether you are correct or the other posters and cricket managers are correct. I have played cricket and against two notes cricketers, CZ and CC.
Kids get taught how to bat? You need to keep track of your posts. Re read YOUR thread.
However I cant be bothered commenting in an Apple vs Android or National vs Labour thread which is akin to yours. I would prefer to post in a constructive thread as compared to an "I know everything thread even though everyone disagrees".
Have a nice day
