If I were captain id put the squeeze on immediately, ie Santner and Phillips. But if Southee and Boult dont go for many just bowl them out. But what a catch by Kane.

Eng totally had aus at one point 120/4 but now aus are 220/5 after 40ov so shhould post good total

Keep in mind they can completely fold with a wicket.

But how many overs get chewed up helps them sp much. 

apply the; you have to score 6s/4s in the hardest places to hit them and sort the cover field out.

They still gotta score a high run rate for a long time, unless rain doesnt go. its meant to.

Yes if Eng beat Pak and NZ beat SL (if it doesnt rain) then NZ will go through easily. But those are big ifs. So better NZ finishes the next one off.

Mind you if Pak take Eng too under prepared, they are still plenty capable. 

Pak hinge on one partnership, once thats gone, the remaining partner has to essentially do it all, of course they have some other good players, but facing the spearhead I mean.

For this reason I still think NZ would have won. Without rain, Pak still required 200. Sooner or later one of the lusty blows would be mis timed, the probability is just so high. In saying that, wasnt Faqar in another league out of nowhere. Incredible.

DLS sucks so bad, I know they think its the best they got. But if one team plays incredible, then the next team matches it for half the chase, but run abandons play, what is wrong with an honest draw.

NZ batting is to be commended, so many big scores, Rachin appears to have turned the key and possibly it was all mental his failings prior. Still, somebody is to get close to Guptils 239 in the 2015 WC, it was there for the taking last night :-)

Im more annoyed than sad, NZ's only real beating was by Sa, not to make the finals given that makes me a bit despondent. Perhaps the RWC final loss doesnt help much either.

Regardless, Pak played to the rules, courageously beyond expectation by most, so genuine congrats to them.

NZ should go through on NRR, if beat SL, or Eng beat Pak. Keep the faith, this team has shown it can match big scores. Hopefully Lockie can come back, I think the other quicks are bust, big tear in the hammy

actually the NZ game vs SL might become a must win if SL beat Ban, which given Ban form is quite likely. SL have a game in hand still vs SL in other words.

So, NZ, should be thinking about what they can do to smash SL, our NRR should hold us through to 4th place as it is now even though tied with Pak. Unless Pak beat Eng by I think 250 runs in the current state. NZ should be aiming to first beat SL but put on a 350+ total to make the Pak chase impossible.

Ban vs SL, please Ban do us a favour and make this less stressful lol. Likewise Eng vs Pak, if they beat Pak we have no worries win or lose our final match, oh, unless SL beat us by 300 ie NZ 100 SL 400. So man twists still yet to unfold.

I thought Eng were going to roll the aussies early on 4 wickets down. Eng only managed 250 vs imo #2 or 1 pace attack in aus, who also have the wristy Zampa. So I think Eng could beat Pak on Eng's day.

It is possible neither Pak or NZ go through is SL win their last two. lol

Uggh, the easiest route for NZ is to beat SL and if rain looks likely, make sure you are ahead of the DLS which is on  the scoreboard.
