Dochart: Why was Ravindra bowling before Sodhi. Took them way too long to bring Sodhi in. The damage is already done. At this rate can see a lead of 150 runs for India.
all I can think of was change of end.....
Sodhi bowls the wrongin by default but brining the ball back in line with the leg spin can just rip through teams. But commentary if correct, he needs confidence.
Ind are scoring near 5rpo. Cant let them get more than 50 lead..
Can Mitchell and Young save NZ here? Was a bad start.
I think 250 would have been enough with this wicket really moving now. Patel. Phillips and especially sodhi all able to turn the ball sharply, with Sodhi he bowls his wrongin more than his natural leg spin, which is different. The late great Warnie use to have no fear bowling leg spin, he would shuffle up, tear the stitches from the ball as ripped seething nasty spin, often floating up to a full delivery but due to the float the batsmen would play a defensiive stab at the ball, just as it hit the pitch it would almost spin backward as it turned across the face leaping upward due to the revs on the ball, just popping up for a Dollie of a catch to silly mid off. Or he would try something absurd like the ball which put him into serious spotlight, the time he threw a screaming fizzer (the noise a good leg break bowler produces from the balls stitches in the air) our wide leg side, would have been pased the ODI wide line on the LEG side lol, but nope, he was aiming for a spot of footmark that seemed pointless, at best the batsman might be able to clip it out to the ropes, nope, the spitting cobra hit exactly where he aimed, the trailing off the pitch footmark, it came searing back, but because of the hoop, Gatting was blindsided and the ball came passed the back of his legs to take middle stump. That was the birth of modern leg spin, something NZ (and at that point aus too) have struggled to produce.
But we have Sodhi, who too can really rip it with leg break, but he lacks confidence, especially in tests (who can blame him when nobody showed faith consistently in his ability). So instead of becoming a feared leg spinner, hes produced off spin or wrongns as his stock delivery.
I say if we going down, go down fighting Give Sodhi the ball with enough runs on the board to achieve a miracle and ask him to rip it hard and hoop it up full and dont worry about the odd one going over the boundary, part and parcel of leg spin. For variety and pressure have Patel at the other end.
If our final wicket can just get us to 150, its an outside chance. But it wont be Sodhi's fault if we lose.
However I highly doubt Stead let alone Latham have the courage to ask Sodhi to bowl what he was born to. They will waste 50 runs with the quicks, couple of wickets with Patel and GP for another 50 and ask Sodhi to bowl when the match is gone. How many times Ive seen NZ post Mccullum bowl to lose with Kane and Tim and now Latham. I dont mean to sound churlish, just that is the reality of time gone bye.
Patel/Orourke nearly good us to the 150. Ind need 147
Watching Mark Chapman drop that catch off GPs bowling could have cost 70 odd. How handy that would be to day, Not to blame him, dropping catches is part of cricket. But in India with a NZ team that is piss weak with the bat, we need simple catches taken.
That looked out to me, maybe high but straight, knee roll. Yep too high,
29-5 what am i watching
Common sense is not as common as you think.
Didn’t matter in the end.

And that's a 3-0 whitewash by the Black caps!
Are Tom Latham and Gary Stead good now? I read it on facebook.
