Shami owns Munro. Hes needs to move down the order. I think 40 from the first 10 is acceptable as the seam is softer and the good bowlers have bowled their first spells, then target 10-30 overs.

Then out of the team. He averages 23 at 104 in the last x amount of games they are yakking about. No WC, we cant go there handicapped

Yea so I'm not super confident that our top order knows how to top order anymore. We learned to look the other way when McCullum would either get 100 or 8 and get out instantly but relying on the guys coming in 7th and 8th isn't going to win us a World Cup and we need to face up to that.

Yes im pretty suspect on it. He can score big when he does the obvious, respect the first 4 overs.

Its just so obvious, Williamson just let 3 balls go through that Munro tried to drive, its sooooo hard to cover drive a ball on the up.

Guptil hitting what I expected from them with this breeze, exactly the direction of the breeze. If munro had not disrespected a perfect line and length, he could be smashing them over that on side later on using the wind.

Ok look at the 4 williamson juat hit. He jumped to be able to have a straight bat. thats what munro didnt do, you cant hit a ball on that lenth if you dont get up in height.

Oh man, same shot as Munro. Guptil needed to get over the ball, get his body up and over the ball. I think if Guptil had a more consistent partner, we would see mroe consistency from him too. its all on guptil in the 1st over, its just stupid. Bat out the first 8 overs and resrpect the bowlers.

Agree. Munro stats are terrible. BMC would deliver more and more often so it was worth overlooking the fails. Guppy out

They need to respect these top bowlers, and aim for A) retain wicket   B) whatever runs you can get  and assess later. The game between openers is not working for us, their bowling is better than our opening batting we need to reign ours back.

Honestly I'd be happy if we were 100/1 after twenty overs as long as we still had the wickets in hand. But Munro/Guptill etc just can't seem to keep their wickets to save their lives and they are now going cheaply more often than they are stitching together solid contributions. You don't have to hit 150s every game, but a 40 from an opener takes a huge amount of pressure off the guys down at Bracewell's level. Their job should be to cameo, not to save an innings.

Yes 40 from both Guptil and Munro at 4-5rpo is perfectly acceptable. But if we put Latham in where Munro is, I think that would happen. Then we would have munro to smash it when the ball is soft.

On another note, imagine if neesham wasnt injured and he replaced ferguson, put him in ahead of bracewell, so we bat all the way to 8 with 30 type avgs (bracewell looks like he could be a 30 avg type guy), then we have sodhi who is handy as is southee and even boult can smack a couple of sixes.

on the bowling side we have 3 top bowlers, Southee, Boult and sodhi. We have Bracewell who is in form and Santner who can dot an end

That would be awesome. Especially with munro and latham swapped around.

BUT i love Fergusson haha.

We needed this series, even if we dont win, we are definitely finding out what will work against the best. I think we are in the top 4 but we are definitely below India at the stage, we can beat them though.

Here is another good thing, for first time since 1981 NZ will be touring Aus and playing the Australian boxing day test match which is always a huge event

What won't work is constantly throwing our wickets away.

The problem is we already know this, but we keep doing it. Time is running out to try other things, or people.

About now is when we need Guptil and Munro to be smashing it over that fence with the wind. Need to lift the run rate now in 14 over.

What Styris just said.

I’m thinking open with Kane and Ross. Stabilise the front 15 overs.

I think NZ is a bit confused as to how to combat the Indian field positions based on their bowling which is so consitant its making our guys feel frustrated. But there is a huge wind there that someone has to take advantage of.

Thats the first time Ive see Kane visibly look lost.

This isnt a bad thing, if we can find a way to overcome indias consistency in line and length and fielding.

For me over the top of the mid fielder on the onside and nobody is out there and the wind will carry the ball.

Williamson needed to loft the ball over that player and its 4. But he hits it directly to the fielder.
