I see we are No. 2 . We have the 6th highest points. and are only 3 points from being 5th by weighting. No.2 is a tad or two incorrect.

No, it is 100% correct.

The ICC have set the rules and how rankings are calculated.  We are #2 by their rules.  The ranking value is determined by points/matches played over the last 3 years (IIRC).  Bit of an explanation here: http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci-icc/content/story/874363.html

I know its correct, I said that. The reality though is we are not No.2 in the world right now, that's very plain to see. We ended up being tested and equalled by SL at the end of that tour, and India thrashed us with a weakened team. I haven't watched Bangers as its meaningless. And the weighing is a few small points from us dropping down the leaderboard.

Numbers are fun

They are ahead by 150 now, time to Declare Kane,

Kane has been off-site getting scans since he left the field, not really in a position to declare :)

So are words.  You said: "No.2 is a tad or two incorrect."

You may not agree with the way ICC rank us...but thats where we are.  You can criticise the quality of our opposition all you like, and yet that is who we are playing. Arguably our ranking should afford us the luxury to play "better" teams.  The series win against Pakistan recently helped us a lot in terms of ranking.  I think we're a better side than you seem to think we are.

Pakistan was a great result. The rankings tell the story I see, we are close to dropping well down as the weighted points are tight. Based on hammering SL then that evened up, the thrashing from India, no I dont rate us well at all right now. We have the potential to go far, but it hasn't been great of late at all.

Most definitely. 2017/18 Pak tour NZ win series, NZ vs Eng 2017/18 series drawn, Pak at UAE 2018 NZ Win series, 2018/2019 Pak tour NZ, NZ win series.

So yeah definitely picked on Pak and is part of why we have shot up as they were good at one stage and winning away you get more points i think.  Sri Lanka held some points. But I think its not just how many series we won but how many tests in the series we have won.

Cmon guys, Declare, 2 hours bowling.

So as per the rankings we are "also" the second best team in the world?

You need to stay up late during winter and watch the away games.

Take the Ind ODI series with a grain of Salt we were not first 11 or close to it, we were all over the shop with selections, yet they didnt test a keeper, yet we have no real keeper, Latham does his best but he cant even stand up to the stumps at 120kph, yet the bangers Keeper was standing up to 130kph, MS Dhoni stands up to guys nearing 140kph. Also we drew a T20 series which we are ranked 6th in the world, cricket is a funny game.

We have to take a keeper, now is it Watling who is the best in NZ, or is Seifert who is the most aggressive.

Most definitely and we deserve it, I just pick on Kane because hes not a foot on throat captain. Im being picky. But we drew a test we could have won, and the first test I believe he should have declared when he was on 140, and again here I think we should have declared at tea. Not because I think we wont win, but its how emphatically we win, how aggressive we are with chasing wins, putting teams to the sword. Losing on the 4th day sucks, losing on the 3rd day aches, losing on the second day is soul destroying.

Ok, we are behind India but we are better than every other team, ok.

As far as here is concerned, any win no matter how easy against Bangladesh is pretty meaningless. I dont watch Federer play a 100 ranked player, even though they would have better chance than the Bangers

Looking like Im on the spot given the swing and early wicket. Most importantly its Tamim that got out, they just collapse once he is out, so an early start.

Where do you feel we will end up in the WC? We are ranked 2 as well. Betting odds are equal 5th favourite though.

I would say we would have 2 teams who we would struggle to beat at home right now, India due to their pithches and very deep batting lineup, but maybe we wouldbt win a 5 test series I think with Santner and Sodhi we would competitive and win 1 or 2 of the 5. Eng much the same reasons, they bat much deeper than ourselves, we really need someone who can bowl swing or seam but be a great batsman, for me that is James Neesham but hes still not producing with the ball. I think we are on par with Australia when the 2 crocodile tear cry babies return. SA is looking very good, they would be hard to beat at home. But likewise Aus and SA would find us hard to beat at home, you only become 1 or 2 if you can win away from home and at home which NZ did. So this end of year season will be interesting one.

Southee needs to put men around the bat also now. Bangers will try to hold on now that Imam has gone.

It depends a lot on the weather and if a game gets rained out who was it you were due to play, if India great, if Bangers not so much.

I see it like this;

1. Eng
2. NZ
3. Aus
4. Ind (mostly due to having the number 1 fast fast bowler in the world who we did not see and of course Kohli)
5. SA/WI

Wild card West Indies capable of beating SA and all the top 5. Nearly chased down Englands 460ish only stumbling and fumbling at the end, was an epic match to watch.

Wow, we are clearly better than India?? And India only get a mention because of Kohli and they have the best fast bowler, and after they took us to pieces at home?
