at the rate we're going Parker will get KO-ed
ok something finally happening, maybe not!

He never looked like being KO-ed
Boring fight, best man won, but it never looked like a KO. Parker is the only one to take him to the distance. But with 6 inch reach, was too much. No real clean shots. Pity the ref breaks them up to soon. Took away a Parker strength. As AJ says he stuck behind the jab.

Yeah I get what you mean. Well my heart was on Parker but I think we all felt AJ was just too big too good.
Im not too upset, at least its not a yank ;-p
Ah well.....
Deserved win by AJ - who kept JP at bay with his size, reach and jab.
Shame the ref separated them so quick as that was the space JP needed to work within.
JP made a decent account of himself - never really got hurt, went 12 rounds with a decent champ in AJ - and denied the one-eyed clowns claiming JP would get dropped in 2, 3 or 6 etc. But as JP said he was beaten by a bigger champion, bigger man - more work to do.
That said at apparently close on a $25M NZD purse for JP - well done that man!! - which should set his family up for life - AND hopefully he will get a few more decent fights/purses in the future.
Yeah a 6 inch reach is a hard thing to work through. JP did more work while AJ defended with the reach. Easy 12 sounds for hm, Parker looked good after 12 even though he was the worker. Takam had a bigger reach too, not quite as big.
JP could have gone harder at him, but easy to say from the couch. I noticed that the no KO comments were brushed aside quickly, "I was boxing, using my jab" Which means he didnt want to go toe to toe with JP. Too much risk.
JP must still rate very highly, only beaten by the unified champion. Only one to not get knocked out, but it wasnt a good enough fight to have a rematch.
Seems like in top level boxing these days there's not a lot of good contacts with the head anymore. Everybody is way too good at dodging and defence.. doesn't make for as interesting a fight.
I've read a few places that Parker's purse was closer to $12m NZD. After everyone in his camp has clipped the ticket the number going into his bank account would probably be a lot lower..

Ive watched a few matches lately, I dont agree with the defence thing. AJ gets hit more often then you might think. This morning it was REAL important, so he used his 6 inch reach advantage, and JP just had to try and try and try. AJ was concerned so he kept away. That's credit to JP. JP is keen to fight soon, that will be a good watch.
Haye, Bellew, Whyte, later Wilder. Lots to see over the coming years.
That referee (more of a baby-sitter) needs hauling over the coals - far too much interference - he never allowed JP to get in close where his strength lays.
What a debacle. I'm just glad I didn't pay a cent to watch it.

Fully agree. he made it into an AJ stand there and defend, and JP do all the work and risk coming in, and when he did it was shut down
JP says he should have done more, so just another part of the learning curve. Pity is, AJ will do this in all his fights. Bigger, better man? No. The long reach man, no need to fight, just reach and wait. However JP is well up in the rankings, plenty to watch.
Reading the media articles that are filtering in, the big news should be that Joshua's KO record was stopped. No foreign journo wants to talk about that. 20 others hit the canvas. JP never looked at risk of that. Some are saying he is done, no future, I dont get that.
Personally, my take on this is the same as Tua vs Lewis.
Barry is the reason for the loss.
At no time was there a sense of urgency - the one time JP made it through and hit Joshua hard, he stood back and looked to see if that hit had worked. Just like when Tua was managed by Barry.
He needs a new corner. A new promoter. A new attitude.
Boxing is a blood-sport and as such requires a certain amount of animalistic rage. There doesn;t appear to be any of that in any fighter that Barry trains. He seems to train it out of them.
JP would look better under a more aggressive trainer.
