I'll donate $20 to a registered charity of tealeafs choosing if they make the top 8, and $30 if they make the top 4.

Poor Defence and Lack of consistency will again destroy 2018.

Does that go up if we win Minor Premiers, and then win the Grand Final hehehe? Will take me a year to think of a good one. I automatically think of the starship hospital, but lately moto neuron disease has been annoying me, before that it was breast cancer and how often men forget they can get it.

Back to the Warriors lol.

I 180 disagree with that, its our amazing fitness that will allow us to play 80 mins in gruelling conditions and run 10 metres back to get back in line to defend our line.

Like I said, Kearneys blue print is the same and Bennetts and Bellamys. You dont move on to the next playbook until you have one perfect and last year it was completions. That has plagued the warriors for 20 years, dropping the ball straight after scoring a try etc.

So now he is, I believe 100% focussed on defense. Clearly you cant defend in League unless you are fit, Ive played both sports and League is definitely more a cardio game especially due to it generally being non stop having to move. Looking at how fit our forwards are this year, Id hate to think of the training Alex Corvo put them through.

Now we do have 3 coaches, and clearly they will practise basic offensive plays, running angles etc, but our natural talent in the team should score points, it did on the weekend. It was their defense on a sunny day in Perth that won them the game. That tackle from RTS was just sublime. Speaking of which, last year there was a rumour of him going to Blue union. I hope not, we need him at FB.

I said this in the union thread;

"What rugby club actually has a 3 story CLUB for supporters to hang out in 24/7, eat, drink and waste money talking about how good they were (Russel Crowe pre Rabbitohs GF lol)?"

A massive advantage clubs in Aus have is fans hanging out at the club and developing culture. AND players do get confronted from fans when they put in a bad one. Ive always said we should move the warriors to Bondi (too close to Easts) or the gold coast (have the Tits now) as we need that exposure to fans and media scrutiny. Rugby League soaks up so much media in Aus, what do we get in NZ, 1min on the warriors once a week? They have 4 dedicated free to air shows and a fox channel and 2 fox shows dedicated to League.

So Im saying, the fans that say, "warriors to the bitter end, support them when they play bad etc" I just dont think is the right culture. We should support them by giving them massive critique.

For me that is one of the reasons for the teams lack of success, fan base equivalent to Aus based teams. If you can just go home after having a bad game and at worse hear about it on the news, you are more likely to take the high pay cheque and not look at yourself and understand its the fans paying you that money and they deserved better.

Another thing on the weekend, it wasnt even our good players that made the biggest difference, it was our home growns.

Penrith will be hard, they looked terrible against the Eels first half. 14-0, but won 24-14 with conversions and penalties from Cleary being the difference. (6/6).

Speaking of which, its him linking with James maloney which looked lethal.

Bizarre round, every underdog won.

If they are 100% focused on defence, you'd have to worry about how soft some of the tries they let through were.

There was a geat try saver in that game as well, but one of the ones they let in was pretty much it's equal for how bad it was.

Aside from one, just good offense. And to be fair it will take more than one game for them to get the defense style perfect. They are playing condensed defense, which like any defense style has a downside and thats overlaps on the wing, which is where RTS made that insane tackle. The wingers will have to be very good this year on defense. Flip side it invites floating overlap passes for us to intercept, expect Fusitua to have a high try record this year. Give them until round 10 before really judging them. By then we will know if we have consistency.

One was just before Kata came back from being sent off. The other was desperation by the bunnies in 77th min, they did quite well more than we let in a soft one.

The only one we had a chance to stop was the second try. But we were being penalised for rubbish penalties, 10:1 at one stage and at 30 mins we only had 30% of the ball. So we actually did quite well to keep them out more than we did.

If you take away their last 2 tries we basically thrashed them senseless in the second half. The commentators were spot on saying the send off killed our momentum, it looked like we were heading to a 50:10 victory until that moment.

All Kata did is what the Storm have been doing for years, holding the player down until our defense is set.

They are on a holly mission, the refs have made a statement they are focussing on sin binning this season. The send off in the penrith game was a disgrace. They sent a player off because in their opinion he was not square at marker, but it was the offensive player who moved from the mark not the defender.

No doubt like every year when they have some silly thing to focus on it will die out around, round 3.

It is something that should happen more, sin bins for professional fouls, but none of them on the weekend were. Typical NRL refs being over zealous for the first few rounds before their brains click in.

I dont think the score resembles how well the warriors played, especially considering how little they had the ball due to the refs, i hate blaming refs but they were whistle happy and it was one way, i have no problem if they blow the whistle a lot when the other team makes the same mistake. grrrrrr. all i could see in the first 10mins was the warriors getting burnt by the refs and as usual letting in 6 tries due to share lack of fitness and defense. But it was quite the opposite.

Im no 100% yet either, but if there is any way a team can look different in one game that game was it.

Sorry we have Titans next week, we are $1.35 to win, so if we lose I will be both shocked based on what I saw game 1 and back to thinking oh no, same ole.

Typical, opposition drops the ball in our 10m zone so of course we get our 3rd penalty 3:0 for offside.

Titans strangely, showing a lot of respect for warriors take the 2 points. dont remember last time i saw that happen.

Better pass that time Hiku lol, the first one bombed a try, this one was well time.

Sheesh only 6-2? We have incompleted 1 set on the attack in their 20, we have been penalised in really horrible points on the field, we have looked like we could have scored 3 run away tries only to bomb them. I guess its a game of 2 halves, warriors well on top in the game but need to start converting our oppurtunities.

Amazing goal line defense from the Warriors, that defense to force the opposition to lose the ball over the line just sums up things.

Wow that set play from Johnson to Green to RTS.

Absolutely Surgical Scalpel SHARP !

If they arent practising offense as much. This is flappn scary it was that professional.

12-2

Ugggh another BS whistle, what about the 4 forward passes the crowd has called for yet they blow a flat ball. Totally kills our momentum. Luckily Fus keeps his cool and we are back in posession. But over the refs killing momentum.

More sharp goal line defense.

This is a big call, but I think Maumolo, RTS and Fusitua are the best back 3 at diffusing bombs in history, this year. Possibly also offensively if we ever see them used in offensive bombs into the 5 metre attacking zone. They just dont drop it.

@networkn you admitted in another thread you don't watch league yet here you are... pot calling the kettle black in regards to the Sky thread. Should follow your own advice and back out if you're not interested in the Warriors, don't be a hypocrite now :)

Well, it was good, but we didnt complete our sets which was last years focus. Not good in that regard, we could be ahead by more. Refs flip a coin we could be only ahead by 6. Been impressed with refs calling Try or No Try, but like last week over the Bunker over turning them without 100% evidence. I think they should just scrub the bunker and one on field ref and accept they get it wrong and right, because they do with technology as well. I dont think the ref error rate has dropped in the last 20 years, possibly increased.

Warriors not looking polished yet, but the defense has been awesome. BUT, our forwards are why we are winning and considering we are playing without one of the starting players for the rest of the match due to early injury.

Ok so last year we finished in the top 4 posession, ie low mistake rate.

Id be surprised if we are hitting 60% today and we are losing the ball on the end of passes setting up tries.

Our defense is sensational, our offense is awesome, our completions are TERRIBLE !

Well I guess its good defense practise...... should be ahead by 40 if we held onto the ball.

UGGGGH, thats not a try at the end, a kick fro hurrell. cmon.

Ok, the worst completions ive seen from the warriors in a year.

The best defense and especially goal line defense ive seen EVER from the warriors.

Im not getting ahead of myself either. If we beat the Raiders or Roosters in the next 2 weeks at home, I believe we deserve to be top 4 prospects.

Their defense considering how much ball we have given away in our own end to still win easily is quite something special.

4 tries vs 1 with 44% of the ball and only completing 67% (give us 80% please, we bombed 4 tries).

it must suck being in a team like tonight for  the titans when you have all the ball and the other team is dropping it every 3rd set in their own 20 and you still get beat 4 vs 1 because you cant get across their try line and their offense blitzes you when they do score.

I reckon Cleary and Maloney will be the blues halves this year. Im glad we got green, hes already prooving to put johnson into a more offensive mode, i just wonder what a mitchel pearce at 7 and johnson moved to 6 might have done, with johnson being more a classical 6 being a running half. you look at johnsons stats vs jones and johnson looks ordinary from a 7 perspective but it doesnt take into account his ability to create and or finish tries which is what a 6 does.

???????

Explain. So @networkn was not as complimentary as you wished, and the Warriors won?  I watched the game, good game. Did you check the TAB odds to see why it was a good game??

Defence rests
