haha thats a good one.
I think the only thing Im happy about is that we are still in a positive for and against and with a 4 game win streak could see us in the better For and against teams. I do wonder if playing a faster team will bring out the speed in us and possibly the ref being ok with fast line speeds. The next two games should see if thats true or not.
I guess Im happy we are not getting blasted away by teams either and whilst losing, they are losses within a try.
TeaLeaf:
yeh it sucked, losing by one try, yet again, is getting old very quick.
where is our offense? we no longer are rolling over teams through the middle 3rd, we have no shape in the red zone.
I understand the plan, but there needs to be a plan B when that is not feasible.
Its not even losing by one try, I was thinking if we got the try and golden point and won, its no less a big fail, another fail. Yes, no offence, no creativity. DWZ, CNK, Montoya get the 5th tackle kick, what do they do? Run a few metres, often sideways and get tackled. Ever thought of passing to gain few metres and putting count into the attackers running at them? No. Did that once at the desperate end. Must be easy attacking them when they know the catcher will always run.

Your positivity is admirable, but before yesterdays game they had 5 losses. Commentators said no one looks like winning, including them, they won. We are 4th last.
We dont lack the players, what we do lack is speed and creativity, variability, that gained us a HUGE reputation last year. We have everything we need, but we are worse than the poor recent years, where at least we had a sound if not good completion rate, now we dont even have that. Ill go as far to say we are choking. High and deserved expectations, and choking on that, its between the ears. We used to play fast and expanding league with a relatively low error rate, in fact when you play a fast expanding game you do expect errors, but they were excellent. Now its slow and predictable, yet more errors. Expect to dominate and win, when that starts not happening against lower sides, we crumble. Against solid sides we crumble. Id wager when we play a TOP side, we will look much better as by then it will be zero expectations.
Warriors have lost their attacking mojo, I'm not sure what to pinpoint that on but within the 20 they are not all on the same page. The ball barely makes it into DWZ or Montoya's hands in space, its criminal they used to have such a great attacking backline.
As for the future things go from bad to worse, Roosters (away), Panthers (away-magic round), Dolphins (home). Super hard run of games ahead could be heading for 6 losses in a row.

Isn’t there a saying that if you keep doing the same thing over and over and expect a different result? I thought given the opposition caught all the up and unders after the fifth tackle I would have tried to kick the ball along the ground and made them pick it up in the wet.
Also the bunker needs take a good look at themselves and not just for the Warriors games. Some of their decisions of late…. π
Coach Andrew Webster has resisted any drastic changes to the NZ Warriors line-up for Sunday's encounter with surging Sydney Roosters.
Fair enough, we have a star studded team. They should watch some games from 2023 to see why they have gone sideways and downwards in 2024

Sounds like RTS will be out this weekend, Pompey in, but Manu his opposite is one of the best centres in the game.
Thats back to 5 of our starters out, I wasnt expecting to beat the roosters but one more major player out just makes it even more difficult.
Oddly on paper we still have an edge, so even without some big names there is still plenty for us to not use that as an excuse to lose. Its all about getting that defensive intensity consistent for 80mins if you are going to play a simple game strategy.
RTS just a minor ham string strain, should be back next week. Capewell, CHT, Niukore should all be back the same week, prob round 14. But we will lose Egan around SoO.
Id be happy with a win in the next 3 big games, more pleased with two. One can only hope things start clicking with SJ achilles nearly healed.
They dont need to click, they need to have strategies and game styles to go after, thats whats been sadly lacking this year
It will be interesting next year what they do with TMM and Metcalf with Jet Cleary joining and would be a #6 like he was ear marked to alongside his brother at Penrith. Id like to extend Metcalf, but hes the most serious injury prone player I can remember in the NRL. I think he will get a chance to prove his worth before any decisions are made and clearly SJ staying on or not will impact things.
Speaking of Nathan Cleary, looks like NSW have lost their key play maker, which must be devastating for him. I am curious who they will pick for #7 given the injury.
Warriors could quite as easily win today as they could lose. Im going to be watching SJ closely given they are stating hes close to full health again, but also whether TMM can create 2 on 1 situations for his outside backs, along with taking the line on himself with intent which is the classic role of a 6. The ball needs to go through the hands inside the opposition redzone today, put the bomb inside the 30m away and either execute their running plays or grubber for the repeat set.
Edit: Ugggh Montoya out as well, 6/17 injured. I like Kosi for aggression though, havnt seen him play a fair while however.
and immediately Manu one of the best centres in the game with the flick pass, no RTS, over commit by the winger.
edit: ugggh now Lussick weak sauce on defense.
Great play by the Roosters. They are looking scary for the top 4. They have 0 injuries which is going make things a lot easier for them too going into Origin period.
Edit: Kosi what are you doing, not your ball. Now they score again.
This could end up 80-0
Edit: amazing the Warriors defend the line. They will have to start throwing it around to get back in this. Warriors I know have near 50% injured, but they just look so slow on line speed vs Roosters.
Edit: Uggh SJ looks like he may have reinjured that problematic pec, which could be bad news for the rest of the season.
Edit: Kasy Badger was torn to shreds in the media and forums last week and rightly so, she makes some crazy calls. I cant see how SJ being chicken winged wasnt penalised, absurd. I was thinking ten in the bin and not even a penalty. Bizarre.
Edit: Oh man, DWZ cant pick the ball up and put it down over the line, that was their chance to get back into it.
Well, no more points in the last 27min of the game. Warriors bombed two tries. I despise chicken wing tackles, not the kind of player I thought Keary was, clearly SJ has his arm pushed against the rotator cuff toward his own try line, no sure how Badger missed that. But Id say SJ could be out for a few weeks with a torn pec or similar. Will be interesting to see who they play at 7 if so with so many injuries, Id imagine TMM would move from 6 to 7 and Walker start at 6.
Bizarre game.
Only positive, Warriors won the last 67min of the game, they gotta stop giving away so many penalties at tackle 4-5. Cant see side to side who is jumping the 10m.
I wonder if Badger was gun shy for sin bins today vs the controversial game last week which got her a LOT of hate mail during the week due to the sin binning fever.
Roosters could lose 2-3 players during the week on report.
With Tommy Turbo out for SoO, Roosters Tedesco could be called up for Blues FB which would compound the Roosters problem, with them playing the Sharks next week.
Looks like Warriors are now down to 40% of our starting players with SJ being the most important loss today possibly for a month at a guess, not sure who will play 6 if TMM plays 7, if Walker is also out. If RTS returns next week, he could do the job at 6.
Like Ive been saying. Last year, we were praised every game for our game style, fast play, creative play, attacking mindset. All of which is AWOL this year. Same again today. Then once the game is well and truly gone, we play like we did last year and were competitive. We started out raging underdogs according to the TAB. Hate to see what the odds were early on. Then we competed more or less point for point. Thats shows the gap between what we can do, and what we do. We need to "do" from the first whistle
Warriors attack in the first half was woeful, no bombs in fact 3 or 4 times the 5th tackle play was give it to a prop or 2nd row and let them try bash it over. Roosters ate it up easily.
Magic round vs the Panthers on Sunday with no SJ will be tough.
