Batman:

breaking news ... DW + SS thought to have been banned from playing for Australia for 12 months

Big tick to Oz cricket authorities. Although diluted as it was a one match ban, until it hit the fan. So, it does seem political that its been increased from more or less one week, to 52 weeks

The collateral damage is that India won't let them play in the IPL if they are banned in Australia.

Good

Those two had a legacy of being top cricketers, now their legacy is being cheats, and ultimately it will cost each them big money. Fair play

I wonder what the average Oz cricket fan thinks of this? And also the sledging mentality?

I dont mean what the media says that OZ citizens say, what they think deep down

Warner should've been sacked years ago. Smith should've never been captain. Marsh family shouldn't be there.

They need a new coach and pretty much a new team.

I'd explain what i really felt, but the filter would leave about 2 words.

From a neutral side of things, over the times that I've watched sports, everybody cheats. That includes ball tampering by all kinds of people.

The difference here is that everybody hates the Aussies for various reasons, and that arrogance have come back to bite them in the backside.

The crowd is now looking at the coach, smelling even more blood. Apparently his actions and reactions are not consistent with someone who knew nothing about the plans.

Will be very happy with that.

Its not fair on Cameron. DW and SS what they have done as LEADERS has done more damage than the actual tampering, it says, as Captains we expect you to win at all cost including breaking the rules.

I called for them to be banned and a smaller ban for White and hey presto.

Does a ban mean they cant play domestic and 1st class cricket too?

Imagine how rusty they will be for the Cricket World Cup :-).

Well done. That makes me feel somebody has some morals up above.

blakamin: Marsh family shouldn't be there.

Especially Mutchull Mush. I cant stand seeing that name in the team.

Haha imagine if there were 2 more Chappel brothers that made the team, wow they would get some stick every time they played in NZ.

The team is good, clearly, it one 4-0 in the Ashes, but I feel the Marsh brothers did play above their normal abilities. But just like the NZ test, Eng pretty much got themselves out, 2 test matches they could have easily won only to throw it away with poor shot selection.

The English media are giving Ben Stokes a hard time for the Auck test, yet he was the only guy to stand there for 200 odd balls. Yes he got out to a wreckless shot, but he was exhausted mentally and you could see he knew straight away hes hit a wide bouncer in the air. What about the the rest of the team in the second innings, pretty much all but maybe 2 wickets were Eng batting errors, conversely the 1st innings was just a freakish piece of bowling by Boult backed up by Southee. To point the finger at Stokes is a bit harsh. They also saying the Eng bowling is toothless, meaning no penetration. Id agree with that, but Stokes is one of their key bowlers and he can bowl due to a certain injury yet. They should have played Mark Wood for some pace, even if hes not use to long spells, I think his pace would be scary for some NZ batsmen not use to 150+.

Yes and they have picked Guptil after his tri series average of 60 putting to bed the myth he cant play spin and being the highest t20 scorer in history, lol, sanity never takes place in the IPL just jokes.

They made a deliberate decision to cheat. They got caught. They have to suffer the consequences of their actions.

However ... for the Kiwis getting on their moral high horses about the latest incident: NZ versus Pakistan 1990. Take one bottle top. Cut into quarters. Apply tape, leaving sharp point exposed. Hide in pocket. Gouge cricket ball when required. Admitted by Martin Crowe on retirement (and he was Captain at the time).

The only difference being, the NZ team wasn't caught.

It was also a different set of circumstances. In the series NZ were being demolished by reverse swing from the Pakistani quicks. However no one knew how they did it. But the umpires let them take the ball with them in to the dressing room during breaks and afterwards it would come out swinging like mad. There was so much dodgy stuff going on back then in the days before impartial match officials and high-def cameras watching every move.

To be fair, things have changed a lot in the game since then in this regard. But I dont think anyone is saying NZ is perfect. Lou Vincent.

Its also that AUs have been deliberately bouncing the ball into the keeper when they can clearly throw to him, this was noted by umps and match refs in the Ashes.

Id say it if it was NZ the same as to what I have said, its the act of Captaincy asking his team to use cheating as a method of play that i find more disturbing than the ball tampering. Those Kookaburra balls can tamper themselves half the time, I wish we used Duke. But on topic, I think they have made the right decision and it sends the correct message to youngsters and the australian community as a whole.

This is why I couldnt get over Steve Smiths arrogance in reply to saying he asked the team to cheat but he wont stand down as the ship needs its captain to correct itself, ummm, the ship is off course because of the captain you brain dead twit. It reminds me of Goering in WW2 thinking he was going to come out as the leader of the country post end of war. Some people are just simply that self obsessed they cant see reality. Steve Smith is clearly that sort. Warner is just a dog act, always has been on the field so wasnt a surprise from him. Smith though I thought was a genuinely nice fair play guy. I guess anyone can put on an act. Shame on his parents. :-)

Maybe they need to remove the ability to do sports betting. But can’t see that happening...

I have lost interest in cricket as a result of all these things going in.
