The difference is Mercedes started the hybrid era 2 seconds per lap faster. 3/10 is huge, 2 seconds is massive. It became a 2 driver series, with one getting all the favours. When RBR won, they had a slow car. Yes they had a period with the double diffuser, but to engineer a car that is a dog in the speed traps to 4 wins was a huge accomplishment

That's not quite relevant this year. Ferrari were almost always much faster in fp1. By fp3 all the other teams catch up and get closer but not super close. Then by q2 ferrari is slightly faster. At the end of q3 hamilton gets p1.

Same story rinse repeat. There is something not amazing about ferrari and something different about merc-hamilton combo. Unless merc tunes down their engine until q2 when they use normal mode and then q3 with the power mode i can't explain it.

I said " Mercedes started the hybrid era 2 seconds per lap faster." Not sure what that has to do with this year

This year Ferrari is the faster car. They have issues with tyres, strategy and driver consistency. Mercedes seems to have reached the end of their progress on the powerplant. Its now fragile as they are running it closer to the edge than others. They would not allow setting 11/10 the other day. Ferrari now need harder tyres to remain in the hunt till the last lap, last weekend showed that can work

When regs get changed too often that creates a sole leader, then they close up then we change the regs, ;leave them alone so more teams can close up.

happy coz winner wasn't a Merc.

all Ferrari people keep saying the result is the best "for the team"

that's so stupid. If there were a best result for the team it's for Le Clerc to win to close up on points with Hamilton.

either way, Le Clerc is not happy lol. but he has to control himself as he's only a rookie :) so well done. Vettel when he was younger would have tried to crash into Webber to get ahead.

The Drivers title is done, Hamilton can clinch that next race. The main title Constructors is closer, plus two cars to contribute thats all on

This ids a changing of the guard. Ferrari has improved in the last 2 years, but its never been complete. It can now boast most hp but tyres are am issue. They turn their wick up a little in FP's to look good, thats what they do, and Merc blows them away in quali. Not any more. Ferrari was rated in this race, after talking about Max and Mercedes. No reason not to make them solid favourites for every race now. IMHO, they won two power limited tracks, now they won the non power limited track.

it's good for leclerc's future. he's getting schooled on how to behave in F1. he has a lot to learn. you don't and cannot win f1 by being mr nice guy.

as for the morons in the strategy department, well i had pointed this out a while ago. nothing's changed.

Vettel had a lead that strategy said Merc would not catch. I feel their "strategy" was the switch them. Vettel stopping and the VSC "neutralising" the race, which it didnt, cost the win

Strategy is for the back car to do the undercut?

They wanted to switch LEC with VET using fresher tyres, so bring LEC closer.

The team orders they got wrong, Vettels start made the "deal" redundant

VET was leading, was it 4 or 5 seconds ahead of the two Mercs? Safer to respond to them than take a risk and hit first, in case the undercut behaves differently on the day

Media says 170k winds according to FP1. Rubbish. Its forecast 43k winds. Rain can be heavy. F1 is scared of rain, so forget tomorrow

IMHO if its raining hard they can race. If a car spins off the track, 100% driver error, driving too fast, thats why you leave the track, wet or dry

After Bianci here a few years ago and also with the Pirelli wet tyres not being so good, anything torrential should be avoided in my opinion for safety.  F1 cannot have a repeat of the issues two years ago.
