Yeah she's sharp alright. Can't even compare it to SkyGo - this is on a whole different planet in regards to quality. Will have to wait until I'm at home with it on the TV to have a proper look. Just at a glance it doesn't seem quite as smooth with fast panning but that could well be this PC or screen doing something weird.

I noticed that but wasnt too bad. Also might be a bit of placebo effect there. I was saying recently that Sky Sport has better motion than Spark Sport, then just the other day I was watching Sky and hey its not that much different after all. Its like you start looking fri stuff and seeing it, or expecting Sky to be better so it is. It tells me that motion will vary between sports due to different recording.

Its just the full replays that bug me otherwise its a no brianer

You need a Aussie cell number to receive a verification TXT to sign up for Kayo, and you can use a NZ credit card.

I'm using P.u.r.e.V.P.N on Andriod TV, it allows tunneling for specific apps, so you can just use VPN on Kayo and nothing else that way you don't have to turn VPN off or on depending on what your watching.

Better still get a beteasy account and you'll get the first 3 months of Kayo for free. looks like they still running the promotion.

https://beteasy.com.au/kayo

You only need to give beateasy your email address, nothing else.

Thanks so much great info, will give it a lash

Slomo option is cool, but it's not obvious how to go back live - Spark's big red 'LIVE' button is good for that. Seems if you just click on the end of the progress bar it takes you back live.

I cant do SkySportNow. Second time I've tested based on positive comments about Bathurst

Its good as gold on my two iPads. I have flicked though Golf, Rugger, NRL, Cricket and on Sky its great as usual. On SSN its still got that super annoying look.Sharp, but any panning, or any movement is like its 1080/20.This is on ATV4 app

However, Bathurst is much better. There is background panning which isnt great, but the cars and the road are all very good, so the bathurst feed is much closer to Sky than the other channels Ive tested today. If I gave Sky 9.5/10 Id give Bathurst on SSN a very solid 8 and the other channels 6.

The lack or near lack of replays is a deal breaker for SSN, but even if that wasnt the case i'd rather pay full for Sky. If all channels were like Bathurst feed, and full replays I'd use SSN, but it fails on both

Edit Spark Sport is clearly better than SSN

I've just had a look on the TV at home (an older 55" Samsung with laptop connected over HDMI). The motion is definitely not as smooth as we've got used to on Spark Sport - am not sure of the frame rate of the SSN content, but think it is 50fps?

I don't think I'm imagining it, hard to say for sure, but if I change the refresh rate to 50hz the motion seems smoother. The TV picture itself looks like garbage, but I suspect that is just the TV not really liking the weird refresh rate. I took a screen cap of both 60 and 50hz and they look identical (and normal) on a different PC, so I'll blame the TV for the weird looking picture. I was going to try the same thing on my 1440p 144hz screen but can't seem to choose 50hz as a refresh rate so no go there.

It's not terrible by any means - the image is super sharp, there is just something not quite 100% with how smooth any motion looks. I wonder if anyone else has similar thoughts or am I imagining things?

My words exactly. I changed my TV to 60 then back to 50, no change. Motion is on so set to off, no change. Its sharp, but it feels like 20fps. Not enough frames to make the frame change imperceptible. Bathurst (can you check that?) is much better. Its not Spark Sport F1, but its much better. I'd class it very good. But the rest isnt.

I purchased this, it's priced well for arguably one of the biggest race weekends of the year and I've always said I want to see the ability to buy individual packages (although this is more access to the full SSN channel offering rather than an individual event) so it would be wrong not to support this!

My Bathurst SS5 channel is far better than the others (ATV4). Maybe prioritising SS5 over the others with the special they are running? I’ve only got SSN for the weekend so don’t know what it is normally like.

Maybe

The low frame rate of the other channels is what I saw last time I tried it. I have Sky as well, SSN isnt work it to me, I'll pay full price.

As to why Bathurst is good quality, maybe they allowed more frames, Its not as good as normal Sky but its good enough.

Wheelbarrow01:

I am planning to just add Sky Sport to my satellite package to watch Bathurst, then downgrade again after it's over (I pay for the full month of sport at $31.99).

I have a question though - does Sky still charge extra for the HD access ticket, or have they ditched that? I found that last time I watched Bathurst, the picture was rubbish until I bought the HD ticket as well.

EDIT - I just found the press release stating the HD fee is no longer charged.

UPDATE: Last night I logged into my Sky account online to upgrade to Sky Sport. Halfway through the order process I was offered their special - $15 for the first month with Soho1 and Soho 2 thrown in.

So for the same price as the Bathurst online pass, I got all Sky's satellite Sport channels and Soho for a month.

I've been getting the occasional bit of buffering on Sky Sport 5 but otherwise it works good.

Welp, just had SSN freeze and fail all through the last two runs of the top 10 shootout... Hopeless. Lets see how good they are with refunds...

Edit: Seems it's happening to other people too according to Twitter at least, yeesh.

Ditto, not client based. Same issue here exactly. I'm not baying for blood though.

Cheers - N

Sky Sport 5 totally clonked out during Scott's run at the Top Ten Shootout so I missed it, really gutted about that
