mudguard:

Well a Russian Grand Prix that was entertaining. Absolute heart break for Norris, and Verstappen somehow got up to second place. It's hopefully going to go down to the wire for the championship.

I should probably check where Hamilton is on engine parts at the moment.

that was his fault. team said come in and pit for inters and he shouted back NOOOOOOO. later blamed the team for not telling him the rain was going to get worse.

in another interview ricciardo told media that he had asked the team if the rain was going to get worse (i don't know if the team told him yes or not he didn't say in that interview) and made his pit stop based on that discussion.

pro vs noob

Jaxson:

Mixed feelings on teh Norris situation, as he was close to rude on the radio saying shut up to his engineer.

McLaren should have made the call knowing the rain was coming, they have the rain radar not the driver.

One to learn from.

Ver did excellent to minimise the impact of his penalty change.

yes knucklehead. that should teach him to shut up. the racing gods had enough and turned on the taps bye bye.

Will have a hunt, but reading there's more than just the Nooo we heard on the broadcast radio.

Likes of shut up repeatedly over his engineer.

Yep. Radar, but still hindsight, as a lot of the track was dry 4 laps out. Had the rain not pelted as it did, just got more,  then silly Mercedes. Hamilton also didn't want to come in.

I have no issue with either choice, 4 laps out and a lot of fast dry track still.

f1 normal race order restored. 20 cars go round and round and at the end of the day Mercedes engineer a win for Lewis Hamilton, RB does the impossible, and everyone else snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

On the F1 Unfiltered YT channel there's a clip of the different drivers reacting to the rain. It would have been great if the audio was synched to video of the cars involved as more than 1 went from definitely staying out to expletive deleted "inters now" as it was changing so fast.

So gutted for Lando but think this will be a good learning experience for him long term. Doesn't sound like he outright disobeyed team orders, but I hope he apologized to them afterward & ate some humble pie.

Would love to hear all the Maclaren team radio from the last 6 or so laps.

At the end of the day though if that rain hadn't got any heavier he would have been a hero, so it's very hard to say. Funny that Bottas got 5th in the end, he was very average all day, especially for having a fresh engine

Yeah. Lewis did really well, starting 4th and making up three places...

Yea I think this race finally proved all the stuff about Bottas being given the same opportunities as Hamilton have probably been outright lies from AMG. British fans seem to think that Russell will come on board and suddenly take it to Hamilton - they're living in a fantasy. Mercedes wouldn't want another repeat of 2016, and Bottas always used to get a massive turn of pace once Lewis had locked up a title. Do people ever stop and ponder why that might have been?

100% I feel it will be a "learning year" If Hamilton wins the title he may retire, or just one more year. Even then "its another learning year, your time will come, lets give him a great legacy"

It's pretty impressive how the excuses have already begun for Russell not meeting the Hamilton challenge while the clearly whipped Bottas is slurred at every opportunity.

The Brits held this kind of team mate management against Schumacher for years, but will fall over themselves to ignore it when it's Hamilton. But what else is new.

Yep. I never liked the Schummy years of contrived results. The Indy win was classic. Im  a RBR fan, but that's due to them doing really well in not the fastest car, I thought that was excellent. Two good drivers, a superb chassis and design, but its midpack at the speed trap on a really good day. But the "package" worked. Hence when Merc opened up 2014 at two seconds per lap faster, well for me that takes the shine of whoever won most of the races. Its good now, more even at the pointy end of the grid, but guess what? We end this period of what has been great racing next year. In any totally new car design, someone will be dominant until the rest catch up. When they do catchip and racing is nail biting, rinse and repeat

It's TV not radio.
Turn down/off the commentary and enjoy the pictures. (Like I do when justin Marshall is commentating)

That was pretty much outright when Russell nearly won when Covid covering for Lewis.  Didn't know jack about the car initially and would have taken it out without a team pit stuffup.  Slap someone like Alonso or Vettel etc in that car, with that team priortisation, and they've defnitely won the championship.
