at least one red flag in quali and race. there is a concrete wall at turn 15 with no access. 2 red flags there already.

Just about to watch FP3. Gonna be annoying if red flags dominate in the race, BUTTT pitstops galore, strategy heaven! Setup on a new track and luck will dominate

Close but what happened to Mercedes? They looked good, suited by hot track temp, slow corners, now they are further away than before.

I guess they lowered the ride height after a positive start and its no good again. Given all the experts, its likely a fundamental flaw in the design. The zero side pods perhaps, maybe they need side pods that add downforce and/or stability so the ride height stability isnt just governed by the wings, if the side pod gave gains there, the load is more evenly spread

Like I said, it was all about who set the car up the best. Ferrari's higher downforce didnt work, and RBR's low downforce did. Had Max not got to 2nd early, probably the same result, as he can catch up, Ferrari can only defend, and that was clearly vulnerable.

George top 5 every race

Charles only wins from pole.

If Max finishes, he wins

Interesting stats so far this season

Commentators are getting a bit silly. If one car wins its the best. The other car wins, its the best

Borefest, thanks for the crash Lando.

Whats all the talk on Twitter about VIPs paying $1000s for seats and not getting a view?

Yeah the DRS train sucks.  Yes they can follow closer, but they can't pass so it's not working as is.
I'm thinking the next step is a user deployable per lap boost, so no DRS but a push to pass of harvested energy that you can deploy at any time, not just on the same straight as everyone else.

That would be similar to KERS from 2009.  Made the Mclaren at the time super heavy but I recall it being put to good use for defence and overtakes..however all the cars are heavy now and built around the subsequent KERS evolutions so it wouldn't be so bad... with the cars able to follow well enough it could be interesting to see the tactical deployment.

yeah it would introduce some tactical and racing options into the mix.

I've read there is a general trend towards a simpler/more cost effective power train in future, removing the complex H heat recovery option and likely more electrical power capacity and charging via kinetic recovery during braking.   Will see what comes of that and with VW entering via audi and porsche etc.

when SC came out i cursed Ferrari for not pitting and having a go at max.

just read today that so did the rest of the world

Red Bull even said they were shocked but are happy to be given the free win

Ferrari then explained that they only had new hards and used softs and no new softs to put on

WTH

What free win was that? RBR was already winning.

RBR did lose the free 1-2 though

you need to ask Christian Horner

you also probably missed the laps where LeClerc came very close to passing

I didnt miss anything. I do recall seeing Max have no issues in taking care of Charles due to his low wing and higher speed, and Charles taking advantage of his tyres being better after the safety car, but could not get past

On that track, these two cars run the same lap time, but they are wildly different setups. The plan was clearly, for Charles and Carlos to lead on turn 1, Max cant get past for 2 laps when DRS is available, Charles clears off. When Max clears Carlos, he cannot make any ground up as they run the same laptimes. The Ferrari vulnerability is not getting clear of RBR, exposed to DRS with RBR a faster car.

RBR's plan? They can pass as they have DRS and a faster speed trap, they can defend, as was seen, as the faster speed renders DRS close to neutral. RBR's vulnerability is being out of DRS, faster speed but same laptime.

On the day, Max got past early, the rest was history. Had he not, he's at the mercy of a safety car, which prior to the race was a guarantee, but in reality it didnt happen during the race as was expected.

Came down to setup and luck, as I posted prior to the race
