IMO DR needs to go anywhere, any team. Better to be in the paddock every weekend, blow away his teammate then hope
Close quali. Good to see Mercedes right up there, looks like a 6 way race
My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.
insane: Indeed, should be a cracker barring any major turn 1 incidents.
Its quite narrow, but OTOH the banking might spur a few late brakers taking different lines. Car and driver may mean less than pit/tyre strategy. And luck, good and bad. Its any of the top three teams race.
Best driver + best car + best strategists = pretty much unstoppable. Impresssive.
I did feel for Lewis.
Yep
As I expected, strategy and luck. Mercedes made the right call for medium then hard, they cannot compete on track so a one stop was the option. Luck as the hard were excellent
Max got lucky with the VSC, but good strategy to give up track position and go back to 3rd with 12 to go. Brand new softs vs older mediums
Sergio has to go. He is a decent driver, but pick any race and imagine there are two Sergio's, RBR would just be a top 3 team, nothing more. Merc and Ferrari have two even and excellent drivers
Yeah, I was expecting a bit of a boring race but it was great to watch, between the cars that can follow closer, the extended DRS zone & the VSC & Safety Car, it was all go. I was surprised to see Merc pit for mediums under the VSC, thought they would stay out. But think they would have ended up with Max winning either way.
I think pre-race it seems like Merc decided in a late safety car situation to stay out, the way George talked when he wanted the softs was like he was trying to convince the team. In the end it ended up being the right call, but because they had already basically lost track position due to pitting under the earlier VSC, that idea should have been scrapped. Staying on the older tyres after the safety car was never going to work.
Maybe they expected the first VSC to become a full safety car and that's where they went wrong?
Sergio's performance again was very disappointing. Shame as I really like him... but that's no good if he can't get the results.

I like Checo so that might colour my opinion - and he is second equal in the drivers standings. But who is available that would be a clear upgrade? And would Team Max really want someone who can regularly challenge the Big Dog for points?

I like him too. But he just seems to be way off pace. A great day for Checo, and he is 3/10 behind, the rest of the time he's well back. So he cannot help with being a wingman. Right now that doesn't matter, titles wise, but he is underperforming the car while Max is overperforming it. If the title was tight, thats a severe setback (Constructors)
I am currently reviewing what content services I use. May I ask, those who use the Spark Sport service what is the F1 coverage like and what is the general app performance like?
IMO Mike it works very well
App is easy to use, my only minor niggle is when you are scrolling across the sport categories that's quite sensitive. Other than that, you can see whats coming, whats been (Highlights, Replay (which is a full replay)
Pause, scrub, or +- 10 secs works fine. No thumbnails though
Playback quality is 10/10 for F1 or MotoGP

I may try it on the Apple TV it seems like an eternity since I have watched F1 and I miss it a lot. A major life highlight was getting to go to a F1 GP and visit the Pit area when my wife worked for HP and they sponsored the Williams Team.

Don't forget that Spark Sport comes with free F1TV Pro. This app works great on my FireTV and Android TV. Lots of features like driver follow.
