hairy1: By the end of the season they are going to have good data on Riccardo, Yuki, Perez and Liam.

History says RB are quick to make changes when drivers don't perform. I think the most pressure is on Perez.

Another chance for Liam to keep his nose clean and add to his impressive start this weekend.

Perez really has gone from bad to worse. Needs to

  1. Support the No.1 driver, not happening
  2. Score a bunch of points, not happening

Given that one RBR car is miles ahead, the other has cars that basically cannot match it for race pace, but they are running him down.

Now....2024 If RBR was on top, but only just as the field has compressed, it would be Max struggling to fight pairs of Mercedes, McLaren's and Ferrari's. Lamb to the slaughter.

Big call, but I'm picking Perez is out 2024. Danny Ricc to take over, "assuming" he is all over Tsunoda for the rest of the season. If  Tsunoda holds him off...... :-) Red Bull don't mess around, right now its wasteful

I see Lawson is remaining in the AT car for Qatar. Dan Ric is still recovering

oh sprint weekend too.

Lawson is getting the full suite of experiences.  Wonder how the new upgrades for AT will go at Qatar. Sounds like there is no other racing on this weekend so the track will be really dirty and evolve throughout the sessions.

I read he doesn't think it will suit the car. But should be good with the Kiwi interest

First disappointing result for Lawson at the halfway point through the weekend.  I thought he did well to out-qualify Tsunoda for the sprint after a disappointing quali session for the main race.

Track has been problematic for most so far this weekend, too much wind and sand and no supporting races.  Not that support races would necessarily clear much sand from the tarmac off the racing line, which is where Liam got caught out.

Qatar needs to get building and put in some development surrounding the circuit to afford it some more protection from the elements.  It's too much of a lottery at the moment.

Congratulations to Verstappen and Piastri for their respective accomplishments, arguably the two hottest drivers in F1 right at the minute.

And the usual form from Perez (not his fault this time?), Sargeant and Stroll, three dead men walking I think.

Not really his fault. But... Perez just shouldnt be racing that far back - then that type of incident is less likely to happen to him.

Very average weekend for Lawson. The only saving grace is Yuki wasn't that much further up the grid which points to an under performing car.

On a brighter note, Louis Sharp won the British F4 championship. Rodin will have him behind a F3 car next season.

Yep caught out by the new track and extreme lack of grip initially offline.

Then just travelled around during the main race.

Insane temp conditions, all a bit nuts really.

Sad way to end the replacement driver exposure given the highs initially but overall has played with the full time drivers in a way that shows he's definitely got the ability to be there.

He had car trouble. Engine braking wasn't working properly and he had to constantly lift off to save fuel but I don't know why that was. Unfortunate way to end things.

Lucky that there weren't more serious consequences with the driving conditions. A couple of drivers almost passed out and two went off to hospital.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

You got to wonder if racing in the desert is really sensible, the heat is insane and all the drivers were so close to the physical limit.

Sergeant pulled out because he was vomiting's in his helmet. You could tell others weren't that far behind him.

Oscar was dead on his feet and all the drivers looks totally knackered when they got out.

I found the QATAR race quite boring even though there was plenty of overtaking. Just another race in the desert on a pretty standard track, QATAR government paid mega bucks like they did to buy the football world cup.

Racing in the desert is fine once a year but do we really need 4? (5 if you count pre-season)

Bahrain

Saudi Arabia

Qatar

Abu Dhabi

Funny how the hottest drivers won the lottery. And the usual suspects end up at the bottom of the field.

If you have F1TV, Liam Lawson will be a guest presenter on the Pre-Quali show this morning.
