Agree, would love to see Rodin on the grid and the Kiwi anthem playing for P1 one day. I did read they've acquired Carlin so I imagine that the UK would be their engineering base, but unless they get a works manufacturer onboard it doesn't look they would get much traction so to speak.

Yeah, they'd have to be based somewhere in Europe with half the season taking place over there. Carlin is a good get for Rodin, have not followed the F2/F3 engineering side of this that closely so was not aware of that. Definitely adds weight to a potential F1 bid. Would have to make sure the company is registered or re-registered as Kiwi so we can hear the anthem though. Dicker is a billionaire apparently, though Australian-born, wonder which anthem he'd be wanting to hear.

I don't think the PU is an issue through the Concord Agreement? My understanding is one of the existing engine manufacturers has to supply any team that doesn't have one, provided they meet the other conditions of entry to F1. It works on the basis of the PU manufacturer with the least existing teams being supplied that has to stump up if Rodin couldn't come to terms with one of the bigger PU makers. Assuming GM is already in, you're looking at them or Audi or Honda who would each be suppling one team at that point. One of them would be legally required to supply engines to Rodin.

All hypothetical of course but interesting to speculate on. I'd assume FOM will want to get GM bedded in and see if they have a positive impact on the overall F1 profits before they would entertain welcoming a 12th team. But, assuming everyone gets richer with GM in, you'd have to think they would be keen to open up applications again to interested parties.

Interesting weekend so far

Liam had a disappointing start in the sprint, had Yuki in DRS behind him for many of the laps, yet defended him. Stiff in Q1, missing out by less than one tenth, after being held up by Stroll who gave him a bunch of disturbed air at the wrong time.

How RBR turned their car around tells me that the top 7 cars are just as fast as each other. Track dependence is a factor. RBR didnt make the car faster, they resolved some issues that made it slower, they are  all so even end of season.

Checo was rubbish again, his Q3 was just as rubbish as the rest of the weekend.

Race wise, whoever in the top 7 who leads on turn 1 will probably lead all the way as Lando did in the sprint. Although he wont have a rear gunner if needed, but as Lando alluded to when he lead all the way, he had extra pace with clean air. "Clean air is beautiful" as he said. The ghost car views were good, Lando better on turns, George better in a straight line. No idea who the top 7 will be, but it will be close all the way.

If I had to pick it, I would oddly say George, Lando then Max. I feel George has the better outright pace. If Max gets headed on turn 1 he would go from a solid all the way winner to being right there, but not quite good enough.

I wish there was some PR coaching at this level for Liam.
He’s not winning the public over with being angry all the time.

a bit nervous for that guy. he's always published as saying polarizing things. if you're max that's ok, but he doesn't even have a contract next year.

on tuesday he said "points are expected"

on saturday he qualifies 15th or something.

smh.

fingers crossed for him ...

Very messy race.. Both Lawson and Tsunoda lacking pace and finishing out of the points this morning. Max doing Max things out front.

The battle between McLaren and Ferrari for the constructors next week will be great.

Despite the obvious raw talent thath Lawson has, he doesn't seem to have much of a team around him to manage him.
As has been said, he needs a PR coach, a psychologist and probably a good driving coach, too - he's good, but if he keeps losing his head due to the pressure, he's not going to get anywhere and he'll find himself without a drive next season.

It's a shame because this sport is so cutthroat and they just chew the drivers up and spit them out with little to no care about their welfare.

I don't see Liam having an issue. He's had just a handful of races and many of them at new tracks and a car he has never been in when he did a rush stint last year. He is the talk of everyone, despite lacking experience in F1 and at most tracks, there is a reason for that

Yuki should be all over him every race, but that's not the trend.

Fair comment, but with the constant threat of the "next Liam Lawson" coming through from a reserve driver or a talented F2 or FE driver, I'd be concerned if I were him or his closest supporters.
The F1 teams don't much care about driver welfare and are only looking for results, so if he's not bagging points and he's costing them money with damaging cars, he's in real danger of not picking up that elusive ride next season.

Arguably, its the worst car on the grid now. Alpine has moved, Haas still ok, Sauber have found something, VCARB have stalled

Yeah I had hopes with so many crashing out that this could be a good showing for Liam.
He spun out once or twice and tumbled down the positions.

think it is the same problem Red Bull were having , they cant get there tyres to retain heat so therefore lack grip, it is the reason Lawson crashed into Bottas. Red Bull seemed to fix it for this race so time will tell if Lawsons team can fix it to

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Hope so, obvious Kiwi bias but its not unfounded. Its not about VCARB if they are poor next race, they are poor, its about Liam vs Yuki. If you evaluate the F1 experience and the results, Liam is ahead by a decent margin. If the many many media pundits see Liam as Max's partner 2025, its a perfect match.

I get that. IMHO he has out performed his experience at F1, that car, and most tracks that he hasn't raced on. He has been clean, unlike many others. Yes he hit Bottas, same as many others. Colapinto looks great, but ask the mechanics. Antonelli looks great, ask the team. If you assess where Lawson ended up, and match that with the car, his teammate, and others (rookie or not), IMHO he stacks up well

(No, Im not his cousin lol)
