@tdgeek gets the Lego McLaren F1. Please send me a PM with an address for shipping.
Oh wow, thats awesome!! Incoming PM :-)
Im ok where Liam ended up. Yes, biased, but realistic.
Was 1.2 secs then 1 second behind FP1
8/10 then 6/10 behind FP2
He is a 100% rookie in this car, and never raced this track
He could go hard to look good, then a risk of binning it. Or, be solid and incrementally build on it.
3/10 was the target Marko set, thats reasonable. But he will be given time, given rookie, new tracks (1st three I recall. Id like him to be 4/10 in quali
I chose Williams. McLaren is the obvious choice, but Williams has been such a player over a long period, so went with a F1 history choice.
I'd suggest they still have pretty big problems with the RB21, and it is a concern from a one-eyed Kiwi point of view. In Bahrain testing Red Bull did the fewest number of laps with Verstappen third last and Lawson second last. They were still running flo-viz tests right up until the last minutes of the final day.
Today Verstappen and Lawson were running different front wing and floor combinations, not exactly inspiring confidence in their CFD tools if they're unsure which combination is going to yield the quickest time. And, their once-in-a-generation-four-time-world-champion driver was beaten for pace by a driver in his first F1 race weekend in a car which is almost legislated in company law to be slower than the team's main product.
They've as much as admitted they will be using the full-fat engine modes tomorrow to try and brute-force Verstappen closer to the top in Qualification, but this is looking like a pretty bad car. I hope the data crunching they will be doing back at base overnight yields a miracle for them, especially for Lawson's sake. He sounded pretty downcast on the radio to my ears in FP2, and unsure of what to do when Wood started asking him about front wing settings.
@JPNZ, it won't be 4k picture on a browser my mate. Work PC might be VPN back to the office rather than breakout to your raw internet connection.
How come you didn't try the ATV4K for P2?
If you are Auckland, Northshore pop round and watch P3 and Qualifying.
The little things make the biggest difference.

thanks! I’m in Chch but I did watch P2 on my ATV and it was great!
RBR definitely don’t look near the front but if the predicted rain/showers come on Sunday you can never write Max off.

Their saving grace might be the other cars being pushed outside their windows with the volatile conditions for today and tomorrow. It's not ideal but the weather might effectively buy them some time to get to the bottom of why they can't dial the car in.
I'm not too worried. I do worry more about the Hartley effect and Lawson getting dogpiled by hyper-partisan media who clearly would prefer for anyone but him to bein that car. Some of the comments we heard on the Sky F1 commentary were telling - it was "too early to tell" for Williams to see if their pace was real, but Lawson should be concerned because he was so far off Max.
As an aside, when you watch Antonelli, Russell etc, they take way more kerb and both had offs as a result - Lawson is still driving well within his limits, from what I can tell. He doesn't have a rep a a car breaker and that may ultimately be what Red Bull need more than ever.

Agree. In 11 races he has shown enough, that with zero car experience, zero F1 experience, and tracks he hasn't raced on before. Keep it solid and clean. Its easier to build up than to try too hard before you are ready and keep binning it, pressure mounts then.
Ladies and gents with ATV4k
Check this out, Multiview doesn't output UHD
The little things make the biggest difference.
I was wondering why P1 just looked like an upscaled 1080p image. However I've now turned off MultiView off for P2 and I'm barely getting a 360p image? Highlights from P1 look great but I can't get descent picture on P2 despite trying a few times.
P2 was faultless yesterday on ATV4K. P3 has been so so today, often drops back to a lower res and sometimes jitters. I’ve restarted the app and seems to be better.

Ooof... terrible for Lawson. Really not going to help him with his naysayers. Hopefully he has a good race.
Gotta think the race is up to McLaren to lose now.
On the F1TV 4K side of things.... Im only on the 1080p plan, however, with it being recorded in 4K (on my TV at least) things look much better. Admittedly my TV does do a good job of upscaling and it may be that. But things did look much better.

unfortunately F1 is not about historical results or perceived car strength, it's all about current results. and to have 2 Vcarbs above him is not a good look. they should have hired Tsunoda!
5 million sets of fingers and toes crossed for the chap, would that be enough?
Very tough day at the office for Lawson. However, can't imagine Verstappen is running the new floor and front wing because it is slower. Also wondering if Liam's car is the same one to have the water pump issue in Bahrain. A few mechanical issues so far this year that certainly haven't helped the Kiwi driver's cause.
Great lap from Tsunoda with quite a chunk of assistance from Norris with the tow. Still, had to be in Q3 to do the time to begin with so more power to him.
The McLarens showing they're worth the favourites tag so far. Horner just been on F1TV saying you can't judge Lawson on what's happened so far this weekend, and reminding the nay-sayers that he was right with Tsunoda last season in the same machinery.
No doubt Lawson will be expected to hold up the McLarens in the race if he finds himself circulating at the back tomorrow, perhaps a Perez sidepod special for Norris? Hoping for a wet race as that will mix things up without doubt.
Lawson needs to be given the same equipment first and foremost though, have a new appreciation for how Sargeant must have felt early doors last season.

Same goes for Antonelli?
