Yuki looking like he did deserve the 2nd Red Bull seat at this stage.

Sorry Jaxson, while I agree with you and your daughter about Manfeild being a great circuit to watch the action at, I think I'm with tdgeek on the issue of Yuki.

All good mate.  I'm meaning just the optics - where Yuki is off to a great start.
Do understand there are legitimate reasons, plus it's only one race.

What a way to start the 2025 season!
Those who hasn't watched it, please do...never a dull moment

Amazing how good the McLaren are...surprised RB still have the car to compete...disappointing in Merc and Ferrari...Lewis switched team just to finish below the team he left?!?!

Poor luck to the newbies/those in a new team...but amazing drive Kimi!

On to China...not sure if we're ready with so much to watch in the post race analysis. if this is how F1 2025 will look like, it'll be amazing

One promising metric out of the race weekend for Lawson. Top 6 fastest lap times from the Aussie GP

Driver               Lap      Time      Tire     Speed

L. Norris            43    1'22.167     H    231.246kmh
L. Lawson          43    1'22.970     M    229.008kmh
M. Verstappen    43    1'23.081     M    228.702kmh
O. Piastri           43    1'23.242     H    228.259kmh
G. Bortoleto       43    1'24.192     M    225.684kmh
Y. Tsunoda         43    1'24.194     I     225.678kmh

Not bad for a kid in his debut race for Red Bull in a B-spec car with woefully little time behind the wheel to get familiar with its characteristics.

Ragnor:

So are they removing multiple 1080p concurrent streams/devices from pro, if so that garbo.

For Melbourne on F1TV pro which has not yet renewed for 2025 I was still able to watch 1080p on 3 different devices / streams (two laptops and android tv) on the same internet connection / ip address

So at least it's not retroactive, curious to hear from people that have renewed pro this year since premium was annouced what limited concurrent streams/devices are actually being applied?

100%. Its not parochial or patriotism. If Liam had the same car, and enough time in F1 and the car, and the tracks, I'd sadly kick him to touch, its hard in F1. But factually, there are many downsides facing him. Its one outlier and wet race in. he scored the same points as the legend Alonso and the top tier Carlos. He did say in a recent-ish interview that the pluses form his two brief stints easily get forgotten. His FP sessions got to 6/10. The goal is 3/10. Not too bad for the downsides

Rain. Warm track that makes it greasy. Many formulas laying down rubber that turns to mush with rain. White painted lines. You can be a top driver and look silly. You can be average but if you stay on the black stuff you look great.

Well, I didnt watch the links, 20 seconds of each was enough. Fernando being bagged. Maybe Oscar got bagged too? Didnt watch enough. IIRC he was the ONLY driver to complete every lap in 2024, yet he went off when Lando went off. Critique is fine, but get slightly real.

Yeah, we'll have a better picture when the racing is a bit more predictable.. doing well in a rain race has got to do with more than talent, even Sainz spun off...

Had a great trip to the F1 in Melbourne.

We had Fangio Premium seats, which were very useful on Sat (wayyyy too hot), and Sunday (wayyy too wet and cold). It was nice being able to leave our seat for drinks/food/toilet and not have to worry about losing our spot. Well worth the $1300 each, I think.

Here's a few clips:

  • Race start: https://youtu.be/pd8sV4ubHD4
  • Panning shot of seats: https://youtu.be/u3fOkxJgBWU
  • Haas double stack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMnPogB0xGs

Trip sounds great.
Embedded Youtube videos for you.

Do you get to pick specific seat numbers/areas within the grandstand, or just random assignments in there?

I've sat in several places previously but really enjoyed last corner onto main straight.
Cars need to slow a bit past you and you can see them peel off into the pits etc.

That view into the pitlan looks quite interesting too.

Random seats. These days you just take what you can get as it sells out in minutes.

It says "Grandstand tickets for the FORMULA 1 AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX 2026 go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, 9 October 2024, at 12:00 pm (AEDT)."

Is that a typo? Or will the next tickets I can buy for the AusGP 2027 and be on sale from October 2025?
