Lawson ended up 12th and ahead of Tsunoda.

Given that his front wing was damaged in early contact with team mate Lewis Hamilton, Leclerc’s car was re-weighed with the retrieved endplate and then an official spare front wing, increasing the overall weight to 800.5kg.

When fuel was drained from the car, though, with two litres being removed as per the draining procedure submitted by Ferrari, it dropped to a weight of 799kg – just below the minimum requirement.

Gasly’s car also came in at 800kg during its initial weight check, only for a fuel mass check to be carried out and 1.1 kg of fuel to be removed, again as per the draining procedure submitted by Alpine, meaning it subsequently registered at 799kg.

A document released following the hearing reads: “The plank assembly of Car 44 was measured and found to be 8.6mm (LHS), 8.6mm (car centerline) and 8.5mm (RHS). This is below the minimum thickness of 9mm specified under Article 3.5.9 of the Technical Regulations.

Watching YT (man I hate the AI voices) According to this, RBR has officially replaced Liam with Yuki in Japan. Cant give a link as its on ATV via the TV, so not on a browser.

Couldn’t get over how little content there is on there nowadays. AI everywhere.

Similar to returning to facebook a while back and thinking something was wrong as it was just all full of ads

Main fear is Liam being dropped altogether.
Would be ok if he was put into racing bulls.

Until I hear something official from RBR I'll assume Lawson is driving in Japan. But you really feel the RB21 is a poisoned chalice at the moment and I doubt Yuki will be able to make a larger improvment.

Will be interesting to see if RBR as a team can make any improvements in the car before Suzuka.

If you're going to swap Tsunoda into the car because Japan then you might as well put Iwasa in at Racing Bulls to replace him because Japan.

Forgive my ignorance or lack of understanding, but I really need to wrap my head around the major talking point regarding LL.

Why does his car have to be set up the same way as Max V's car?
Is it regulatory?
Is it because it's a "back up car" for the No.1 driver?

Surely, if they are paying a driver a small fortune to race cars, they'd want the car he's driving to be competitive and therefore set it up to suit his driving ability and style?

None of this makes sense to me as a fair-weather F1 fan.

I think they develop the car and set it up to Max's liking primarily for cost reasons, plus he's a generational talent so it makes sense to optimise for his talents.

Looking back, I am very glad that Kimi was given thousands of miles in previous generation cars to bring him up to speed. Perhaps I'm biased but he does seem to be the next generational talent.

None of this makes sense to me as a fair-weather F1 fan.

Their race configuration will be slightly different but in reality the simulations provide the baseline setup for optimal racing and then each driver tweaks slightly to improve the handling to their liking.

The issue that may be present is the underlying characteristics of the car, e.g. aero platform, mechanical grip, full suspension geometry (not just setup but wishbone configuration) can lead to a car with a specific characteristic that some drivers won't enjoy or just cant drive as fast as they could in another car.

A former teammate of Verstappen's, Alex Albon said the car is setup so delicately, it's like having the mouse pointer on full speed. It's just exhausting. This was a few years ago but I guess it hasn't changed. They can probably adjust some of this out, but it must make the car fundamentally slower.

Surely Yuki will not be able to tame the RB21 in a week's time and the humiliation in front of the home crowd would be exciting for the viewers...that would take the steam off Liam...

Unless, his driving skills are so good that he could be Max's dream teammate for RB...

Being reported as a done deal now. Now watch Honda turn the wick up on Tsunoda's powerplant. The giveaway will be the FIA controlled parts swap notifications (expect new everything for Tsunoda's car) and speed down the main straight relative to Max.

Given how quick RB have been to dump Lawson, it would be extremely naïve to think Tsunoda will be stepping into the same car with the same gear.
