I turned on these things called the TV and the Radio sound came out the speakers and advised ' Big cheese from Japan is visiting NZ to have chat with Mr Big Cheese in NZ Called John Key '

** Actual wording could differ from quoted above **

I 'm guessing jf2 is the backup plane,

He's scheduled to be in Oz on Monday night, if you've got the aircraft, it's easier than having to rapidly arrange an alternative if there is an aircraft failure.

Or if Japan is anything like the USA, they fly both planes and don't disclose which one carries their leader for security reasons.  (Air Force One is actually two or three planes, with the designator given to whichever one carries the president at any given time).

Kyanar: (Air Force One is actually two or three planes, with the designator given to whichever one carries the president at any given time).

Actually whichever Air Force plane the President is in is AF1, regardless if it's one of the official ones (reference), with the actual name changing with the service providing the wings:

7. Presidential aircraft and Presidential family aircraft:

(a) When the President is aboard a military aircraft, state the name of the military service, followed by the word “One.”

EXAMPLE-
“Air Force One.”
“Army One.”
“Marine One.”

(b) When the President is aboard a civil aircraft, state the words “Executive One.”

(c) When a member of the President's family is aboard any aircraft, if the U.S. Secret Service or the White House Staff determines it is necessary, state the words “Executive One Foxtrot.”

John Key and the Japanese PM are going to discuss Japan allowing imports of NZ agricultural goods and in return NZ will crack down on IP enforcement (among other things).

ie, the TPP negoatiations.

Expect to see them depart AKL-CHC today for a few hours stop-over at CTV site and a tour of the city central by all radio accounts.

Overseas visits in the past they have loaded one with the PM and his immediate advisers, the other gets loaded with media and entourage to meet it on the ground for photos etc etc. Doubling as a sacrificial spare etc. Not as strict as the USAF1 which fly together, swapping roles and not broadcasting their GPS location via ADSB it seems.

Make the 4th 747 CHC has seen this week! (2 freighters - thur and sat) and some emirates 777Fs early last week.
