I don't think they work in the NI yet. This is where confusion sets in per my previous, as I opted for Airpoints conversion when I signed up. I was sent a brand spanking new New World card. With Airpoints logo. Those that opted for Flybuys previously, got new cards with just fly buys logo.

I can't recall if I got a new barcode generated or the original however as I loaded to stocard and turfed the old one. But they may well now relate to different merchant numbers

Foodstuffs South Island and North Island are two completely different companies with totally different POS and backend systems. I can't see that ever working.

Foodstuffs Wellington and Auckland merged a few years ago and are only now starting to move forward with IT integration.

Now it gets even more confusing. Now the new Airpoints card today says you just scan this at New World to earn Airpoints. This goes against last week's mailout of NW Club Card's in the mail that said you have to use that!

It's still semi accurate. You just wont get any club-only discounts

So I got my new card today, no One Smart option.

However I have activated One Smart previously, just not on my most recent card which was a recent replacement because the numbers had worn off my old one.

It looked identical to the new one except is a dark purple with One Smart integrated. Oh and a small Flybuys logo on it.

Thier Facebook team have organised a new card for me. So at least they are responsive to the queries.

Ok so now I have my old Onecard, my new Onecard, and my AA card which is also a onecard. I have three onecard logins and a countdown login. You can't associate an AA card with the new Onecard account on the countdown website because it has a different prefix, but it says on the AA card it's a onecard number. wtf are they thinking with this mess? I'm fairly intelligent but I want to tell them where to jump and just go shop at Pak N Save.

Then there's the new world card. So that's a flybuys card too? Does it create a new account or does it add a new card to the same account?

I worked on a combined smart loyalty card scheme 20 years ago when I first started in IT, but it never went anywhere. Shame, because it'd be better than this shambles.

Re: New World I would think if they just sent you one without you applying for it, it would be the same as before so yes a Flybuys card.  The New World card also comes in a AirNZ version.  One has the Flybuys logo and the other has the AirNZ logo.  We just went with the AirNZ b/c there are sale fares whereas with Flybuys they tell you how much points are required.

The Countdown FB might said that AA customers to continue using the AA card instead.  You won't need the old normal One Card and the new normal One Card.  They do the same thing.  Except the new one allows you to accumulate Smartfuel credits instead of using collecting Countdown points for those supermarket vouchers.

It's almost a case study of how to confuse and piss off your loyal customers!  I got 30c off at Caltex with a countdown voucher code - but was told I coudlnt' use my AA card as well!

I'm pretty good at being a loyal shopper to get my points - but I'm pretty much over the whole mess now

But the new onecard allows you to collect AA points, as well as the AA card.

So in the space of a week I got two new onecards (Countdown and AA version), New World card which I think replaces Flybuys, an Air NZ card which I think is just an Air NZ card (but I'm not sure), plus I got a couple of other random cards which didn't help.

Why do these companies think we want to haul around a load of store specific cards? If they have an app and I can use my phone, great, but otherwise it's just annoying. Thick wallets are uncomfortable and the cards just won't get used.

I've emailed Countdown to get some clarification, and I may check with New World as well.

Exactly. It's a great way to lose loyalty.

How else are Onecard + Smartfuel going to claim 3.5 million combined users!?!?

Your New World Clubcard is not a Fly Buys card - it's a New World card. You use it at New World and choose your earn program that you want points to be credited to.

I'll put money on Fly Buys not being around in 12 months so this won't be an issue. Mitre 10 pulling out really is the start of the end for it, I can't see Noel Leeming hanging around for long because there is absolutely no value proposition in it any longer.

It also seems crazy that New World uses the Fly Buys database to send out cards to Airpoints customers. As a result lots (like myself) who never used Fly Buys and only used the Airpoints card for Fly Buys (with APD earn) don't actually get a card.

All of these programs are about as messed up as they could possibly be. It's just a shame our Commerce Commission are so inept, Smartfuel should be banned anyway or all fuel discounts limited to 4 cpl. Our fuel market is now far worse than Australia was when the ACCC banned all discounting and limited it to 4cpl.

The New World Clubcard is a fully functioning Flybuys card that can be used at other retailers, according to this FAQ on the flybuys website.
