bj99:

littleheaven:

loaded my new OneSmart to US iTunes it accepted it just fine.

Did you do anything special to get it accepted? Did you need to change your default currency to USD?

Mine was declined.

I'm in the same boat, can't get it to accept in my iTunes US account. Was the sole reason to keep a OneSmart card.

Is there anything specific required to get it to work?

I just went into the payment details section and updated the card number, then hit enter. NO error message or anything. Weird. Did you have funds in your USD wallet?

Yes, both usd & nzd funds. The same card worked ok on nz itunes account. I also tried setting default currency to usd without success.

After reading this, I checked my iTunes account payment info on my iPad. The new OneCard was saved but it was asking me for the card's security code, which I had already entered yesterday, and when I put it in again, the card got rejected. Annoying.

Edited to add: Has anyone tried Enteropay?

I went through activation to move across to the new card, it said I would need my drivers licence or passport but when I went through the steps it just asked my name and address and off it went. The OneSmart app on my phone is now blocked (old OneSmart account I guess) and I can't find an app for the new one, so I'm wondering how I now manage the OneSmart using my phone. The older one felt more 'integrated' with AirNZ where as this one feels like it's branded AirNZ but operates separately.

I couldn't even activate mine - wouldn't accept my DOB or the fact I have 2 middle names. Ended up tampering with the javascript on the page to force an accept of my actual correct information (got a server error) and went to the extent of modifying the data in the request which again got a server error (and locked my account).

Guess since they can't store my name I am not going to bother activating my card, I only used it for purchasing the likes of Hulu anyway of which doesn't even work with the new card.

My travels recently have been Australia and Europe and Canada. In Oz and the EU, I mainly just use my ATM card to withdraw cash if I need it on the day. The Kiwibank fee is $6 / transaction plus something like 1.4% of the amount withdrawn. So I'll take out two or three hundred cash to spread the cost. Otherwise stuff just goes onto my credit card. I usually run the card with a credit balance (like....I owe nothing and put $10,000 on the card and then I just spend my $10,000....and don't use any credit...so all convenience, but no credit card interest costs).

In Canada, I have a local bank account after working a contract there for several months in 2007. This is the best option of all, but opening banks accounts in countries where you don't live isn't easy.....unless you're rich. Then they fall all over themselves.

I only used my one card to setup USA netflicks in the pre-nz days.

Now we have it in nz, if there are any hassles with the conversion to the new card (and maybe if there isnt), I might cancel/close the card too.

My US itunes account no longer works with the new OneSmart card !

That was the only reason I used it :-(

Does anyone know another good way of keeping a US iTnes account topped up ?

Thanks

My current alternative is to simply topup with iTunes credit. The simplest means is purchasing via eBay, as long as you have a US Paypal account (I've got one with a NZ Credit Card), then you can purchase $ for $ and every now and then they do specials.

Use these guys to get iTunes cards.

They're more expensive that buying from PayPal Digital Gift Cards on eBay. Why pay a premium when you can get it at cost?
