Partner set up her new Onesmart card, transferred money over from old one on 23/11/2016 but today finds out that they declined a payment on 29/11/2016 - apparently they do not accept 'recurring payments' - she had a monthly subscription charged to her old Onesmart account!

Only just came across this thread and I'm so annoyed.

Been using OneSmart since it came out pretty much solely for Netflix USA, Amazon USA and iTunes USA.
Recently activated the new OneSmart card but not yet transferred from old card.

Can't believe that in one foul swoop, AirNZ have decimated what was probably a pretty decent passive income.

From what I can tell in this thread, the old OneSmart (R.I.P) was the only option to use the above services?

So now what? We can only use Gift Cards?

Grumble, grumble, mutter, mutter...

I'm back to using gift cards. Has anyone trialled Payoneer or similar?

Payoneer doesn't work on these services as it's issued in the UK.

BNZ OneSmart never appeared to enforce your address, which I guess breached the terms of their agreement with mastercard. Plus it also allowed recurring payments, which again is a breach of terms (which i can't comprehend why for debit cards). No debit card I've found from NZ allows recurring payments, which is really inconvenient.

My payoneer is issued in the US and  runs in US$ - I use if frequently for recurring payments like hosting - not sure why it wouldn't work with Netfilix

Are you sure? I used a BIN decoder and found mine was issued in UK by a Malta bank. The currency balance runs in US$ but the institution is not US-based.

Over Christmas/New Year we traveled Europe, UK and South Africa. Before heading off I set up the Euro and UK currencies on the new card and had absolutely no issue paying for everything as if it was a credit card.

However in S. Africa I had my first 'Refer to issuer' message. Been back a week and today I've had my second similar decline "This card is not accepted. Please use a different card". In S. Africa I was trying to buy airtime on Vodacom using, firstly, USSD commands and then via a web portal, both without success. I eventually went to a supermarket and bought a topup. Today's error occurred when trying to register the card on Paypal to make some Ebay purchases.

Interesting reading some of the other problems people have had about recurring charges, Netflix (NZ) debits the card every month without issue. Or have the other failures been because of international subscriptions being an issue? I'm keen to know, as we'd like to enable a subscription for Netflix for my S. African based mother-in-law and perhaps actually cover her monthly internet bill. (We can get her 99Gb/month for around NZ$35 over 3G).

Ah-ha. When querying some charges on the aforementioned card, I queried the reason I cannot register it on Paypal. It was seem that there's address mismatch. For international sites such as Ebay, Amazon, PayPal etc. I have only ever provided my postal address, the new Onesmart service will not recognize PO Box addresses and will only approve physical street addresses. Onesmart told me I'd have to change my address detail at the merchant end. Frustrating.

For obvious reasons it's no longer available via the OneSmart card (but is still available).  There is a big discussion about this on here, so if it's not in this thread there is another one all about it.

Older Payoneer cards were issued by Choice Bank in Belize. But still not a US bank.
