FineWine:

I read 'quoted' that a member of the public called them Gypsies. Apparently the family have denied being Gypsies. That is a really bad slur against the Gypsies (Romany people).

Yet the article linked to above (https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/109985238/unruly-family-travelling-in-nz-known-for-scary-antics-in-the-united-kingdom) makes mention of the individual convicted in court yesterday as having lived in a 'traveller' site, and those terms (Romany/gypsy/traveller) are sometimes used interchangeably...

Juvie and adult prisons better start booking a room for the kids because that is where they are headed.

Fabulous English Daily Mail article. don't know how accurate it is knowing the English press but have a read anyway, it is mildly entertaining:

British 'gypsy' family will be DEPORTED from New Zealand after locals say they 'caused destruction across the country, caused mayhem on a flight, tried to cheat restaurants out of money and threatened violence'

For the sake of your sanity and peace of mind I would strongly recommend not reading the Daily Mail, ever!
