The IVL is a requirement for entering NZ unless you're from a country that is exempt (basically Australia, most Pacific Islands and anybody else on a foreign passport who has PR). If you need a visa or ETA you need to pay the $35

I don't understand.  Australians should be charged the IVL same as other foreigners, plus another $1000 to help the country look after the people that they keep on sending "home".

You may be using the scammy resellers sites which are not valid for 2 year periods.

Ouch, I didn't know there were ESTA scam sites. No, I always used the USG site, but now I'll be on the lookout for scam sites when I apply for the next one.

I actually don't understand the issue with Australia deporting NZ prisoners. The people they are deporting are not Australian citizens, and when their visa is cancelled due to going to jail the only option is deportation back to their "home" country which is where they hold a passport. New Zealand does exactly the same thing with prisoners where we deport them once they leave jail.

On the whole I agree, however some of the adults being deported have no relatives and left the country when they were toddlers. Although they are citizens by birth, they have absolutely no support network in this country.

Not to digress the topic of the discussion.....

We could eventually see Australia revoke the subsection 444 visa (for example) that allows NZers to work in Australia, at which point I'm sure there would be some reciprocal action. So you might get your way! :)
