I've often wondered how they'd get on with no overhead baggage, just want you can put between your legs.

Not much room for more junk down there. 😛 Others’ MMV.

Any system that attempts to load passengers according to some paradigm is going to need a fairly sound vetting procedure at the gate. I’ve been in many airports where the gate announcements try to get people to come up by, say, blocks of seat numbers - but everyone ignores that and just jumps up and starts queuing - and the gate staff just process them without vetting. I’ve noticed this more in some countries than others - some of it is a cultural thing.

Wonder how it would go if they asked for the window rows only, and then enforced it when boarding?

I bet couples and families would ignore it and just try to board together.

I'm thinking that wheelchair-bound people are in a position to do the rest of us a favour here. Go to the end of the carousel where the bags come out and line up parallel to the carousel. Grab a bag and hold on, mowing down the stand-near-the-carousel zombie phone readers. Shout "Yee-hah" occasionally.

That would not end well. Think there would be some ouch, and a fair number of &&^* #$@! and $#!&😀

Yep - it would probably be unrealistic to expect or ask couples and families to board separately - they likely just wouldn’t accept that. Not really sure I would either TBH. It’s this type of issue that makes the whole more-efficient thing so complicated.

Senecio: I was waiting for my bag last week when a gentlemen in a wheelchair came and waited beside me. He introduced himself and straight up asked if I’d mind helping him with his bag. Not a problem, it must be a right pain to try to do that yourself in a wheelchair.

When wheelchair bound people check luggage they should allow it it be marked as such so that it is delivered by hand the same way over size bags are.
guessing that wasn’t an air NZ flight - they usually pounce on anyone with a disability

You're not on Atlantis anymore, Duncan Idaho.

Well now that is rude, being pounced on could be painful and besides only one person is allowed to jump me.

It was Air NZ, but a late flight back from Sydney so not many staff around.
