Dynamike: I have no interest in the Royal Tour, but as the saying goes: "It pays to advertise".

One Million for the international publicity NZ has received from the Royal Tour is a bargain.

And it's not just tourists, it's also exported products. There will be an increase in the sale of NZ produced goods during and immediately after the tour, and many people will like what they bought and continue to buy more.

Plus I wouldn't call it a holiday. If my holidays were anything like the Royal Tour, then I think I'd always stay at home.

A trip to Pacific Aerospace, two war memorials and a day at church... I don't know how they can stand it...

I saw a cost of NZ$1.2m mentioned in the Herald in an opinion article. Where does that number actually come from?

Seems remarkably cheap to me.

I wonder if those RNZAF 757 flights were put down to "training"? John Key's chef was hired from the PM's Dept rather than the Tour budget? All the Police cars and motorbikes came out of the Police budget? The stays at the flash lodgings came out of the Tourism budget?

The Police would have cost even if the Royals were not here, they didn't hire more just for the tour. We are paying for the RNZAF aircraft and crew anyway it was probably the cheaper option. Any how $1.2m is a good investment

Hey put it out to private enterprise. I'd help sponsor their visit. In return for my logo on.. maybe one of Kate's buttons.

I just got a mental image of the royal family looking like Nascar Drivers with jumpsuits plastered with advertisements.
