Trump In India: Cricket, Vegetarian Food, Fun With Pronunciation

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

President Trump, who began his visit to India with an address to a massive crowd, is expected to have as much trouble with that country's vegetarian cuisine as he did with pronouncing Indian places and names in his speech.

TRUMP PLANS TO DESTROY CORONAVIRUS WITH DEADLY TWEET

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he was planning to destroy the coronavirus by sending it a “very, very bad tweet”.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said that he was already in the process of crafting destructive insults about the virus.

In a preview of the mean tweet he is devising, Trump said, “The thing about the virus is it’s incredibly small, even smaller than Bernie Sanders.”

He added that he was also in the process of coming up with an insulting nickname for the virus.

“It’s going to be something about how teensy weensy it is,” Trump said. “Like Lil’ Micro Mini Virus. I’m still working on it, but it’s gonna be the meanest tweet ever.”

Trump was dismissive of the scientists who have raised dire concerns about the virus in recent days. “These so-called experts are the same people who said I needed sunglasses to look at the eclipse,” he said.

TREXIT - Vote him out. Take him out. Either way, Trump's gotta go.

The tragic thing about Borowitz' reports is they read as if they are factual! You have to snap out of it and tell yourself it really isn't real.

The POTUS (who has a history of telling the truth or mainly the truth about 14% of the time) is scheduled to hold a press conference on covid-19 in about an hour.

So there is about a 7/50 chance he will be telling the truth? (Of course in his demented mind everything he says is the truth!)

3% will be information about the virus. 97% will be moaning about being treated unfairly by the "fake news media" and "do nothing Dems".

Yeah, nah. No need to do that as Russia (and others) will be helping to ensure his victory again. He doesn't need to play that card until the 2024 election... assuming he doesn't get the GOP's help to rewrite the constitution to remove the two term limit before then.

He's stood down from heading the task force - delegating it to Pence - probably throwing him under a bus, but hey:

The Washington Post - How Trump can avoid being his own worst enemy on coronavirus

today

One of President Trump’s failings is that he thinks he knows better than his experts - more about the military than his generals, more about the economy than his Fed chairman, more about intelligence than his spymasters and now, we fear, more about public health than his doctors.

Trump is hardly unique among politicians in overvaluing his expertise.

But in dealing with coronavirus, this presidential vanity could be very dangerous.

It undermines confidence in financial markets, and it politicizes what should be a nonpartisan, fact-based response to the crisis. ...

... Trump made a bad mistake when he seemed to endorse a questioner’s suggestion that the CDC [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] was “exaggerating” the threat.

“I think they are,” he said. “I’d like it to stop.” That unwise comment probably spooked the markets.

The danger of heavy-handed presidential intervention is that it can drive experts underground when their advice is most needed [as with the Intelligence service]. ...

Indirectly related to Trump. Republican Ted Cruz sending out a tweet on Bernie Sanders supporters.

Can You Name a Country? (updated)

Jimmy Kimmel Live

Senator Ted Cruz recently tweeted a segment that he likely did not realize was from our show. About two years ago, we went out on the street and asked people, if they could name a country on the map. Many of them could not. This had nothing to do with their political affiliation, but Ted Cruz posted it and wrote…

This is Bernie’s base - the same folks who tell pollsters that socialism is great because free stuff is cool & they have no idea how many countries have tried it and utterly failed. The antidote: facts, truth & substance.

Unfortunately, the guy talking about facts, truth and substance, made that all up. These were not Bernie supporters - we don’t know who they supported, we didn’t ask. Bernie wasn’t even running when we shot that. So, we decided to revisit this by asking people who do not support Bernie Sanders (in fact, quite the opposite) to name a country, and this is how that went.
