neb: The narrative from his fan club is that the WHO is controlled by China so this is a means of cutting off funding to a Chinese entity. Would never have picked Tedros Adhanom as a Chinese name myself...

My opinion is that he is a narcissist. He cannot be wrong. WHO is first on the list of many. Next are Governors who have the power for each state, which he doesn't. The list goes on

i just did some research on the WHO saga. Tedros has a *chequered past more intricate than a hollywood thriller. Trump probably doesn't know that but my oh my. *IMO no smoke without fire here.

And in your research did you find reliable sources, or just some YouTube post linking to a QAnon conspiracy page?

The New York Times - Coronavirus Live Updates: Trump Encourages Protests Over Restrictions, Alarming Governors

today

Trump tweets call to “LIBERATE” states where people are protesting virus restrictions.

President Trump on Friday openly encouraged right-wing protests of social distancing restrictions in states with stay-at-home orders, a day after announcing guidelines for how the nation’s governors should carry out an orderly reopening of their communities on their own timetables.

In a series of all-caps tweets that started two minutes after a Fox News report on the protesters, the president declared, “LIBERATE MICHIGAN!” and “LIBERATE MINNESOTA!” - two states whose Democratic governors have imposed strict social distancing restrictions.

He also lashed out at Virginia, where the state’s Democratic governor and legislature have pushed for strict gun control measures, saying: “LIBERATE VIRGINIA, and save your great 2nd Amendment. It is under siege!”

His stark departure from the more bipartisan tone of his announcement on Thursday night suggested Mr. Trump was ceding any semblance of national leadership on the pandemic, and choosing instead to divide the country by playing to his political base. ...

TRUMP DEFENDS DECISION TO SIGN STIMULUS CHECKS

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Donald J. Trump vehemently defended his decision to have his name printed on the millions of I.R.S. checks being issued to the American people, telling reporters on Wednesday, “I want my name to be synonymous with the coronavirus.”

Lashing out at critics of his decision, Trump said, “I've been working on this pandemic day in, day out, and I deserve total credit for it.”

He said that, with his name on the checks, “For years to come, whenever the American people hear the word 'Coronavirus', the first thing they’ll think of is me.”

Asked about Trump’s decision to sign the checks, Dr. Anthony Fauci said, “It wasn't really necessary. Most people already associate him with the disease.”

Former President Barack Obama said that he was “kinda surprised” by Trump’s statement, remarking, “I had no idea Donny knew what ‘synonymous’ meant.”

'Ask not what you can do for your country: ask what you can do for me'. Donald J.Trump. US President 2016 - 2020.

The Washington Post - Stimulus checks and other coronavirus relief hindered by dated technology and rocky government rollout

today

On Friday, Trump hailed the ‘incredible success’ of getting out payments, but millions are still awaiting stimulus checks, unemployment aid and small-business loans

The national effort to get coronavirus relief money to Americans is at risk of being overwhelmed by the worst economic downturn in 80 years, as understaffed and underfunded agencies struggle to deliver funds. ...

“The IRS systems are still hard-coded,” said John Koskinen, who was IRS commissioner from 2013 to 2017. “It’s not just a keystroke to go into the code and make the change and hope you’ve made it correctly. When you set up a new portal like this, it requires you to get into some very old legacy systems.”

The IRS uses a decades-old software - its “MasterFile” software responsible for processing individual and business tax filings was developed in 1962 - and a computer programming language called COBOL.

The stimulus program has required multiple coding changes, and the agency has at least 16 other databases with taxpayer information, none of which easily can communicate with the other ...

OMG I did not realise that COBOL was still around. I thought it went the way of the Dodo Bird. I had to look up its history and came across this article

IBM, Linux Foundation see great response from COBOL programmers

Apparently due to the unprecedented demand on States and Federal mainframe systems due to the huge increase in unemployment applications and Trumps out of sync stimulus cheques, these COBOL systems can not cope But the trouble is there are not many COBOL programmers within the States and Federal bureaucracies so they have had to put the call out.

I mean how many programmers does it take to code "Donald J. Trump" ??

And trust America to still use an antiquated system like 'Cheques'. Gripes there's another Dodo system. Mind you they still use 'Food Stamps'. It is just all so open to fraud.

Oh hang on we are talking Donald Trump here ain't we. My boo boo 😀

EDIT: checks = cheques 🎓
