"[Press Secretary] McEnany: White House not addressing plans should Trump, Pence fall ill"

The White House is not addressing contingency plans should President Trump or Vice President Pence fall ill due to the coronavirus, press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said Thursday, adding that reporters and the public "should be celebrating" the leaders' health.

“That's not even something that we're addressing," McEnany told reporters when asked if the White House has a procedure should the two be incapacitated. "We're keeping the president healthy. We're keeping the vice president healthy, and, you know, they're healthy at this moment and they'll continue to be."

"The president's healthy. The vice president's healthy, and I think that's something all reporters should be celebrating and the American people as well," she added.

Fox News has occasional lapses from their primary function as the Trump administration's propaganda network.  Trump prods them from time to time when Fox does something that annoys him:

OANN is lunatic fringe CT "news".

He's also just sent the message out to all the trolls and bot farms:

As for his current press secretary, she's been nicknamed "Bulls**t Barbie".

Possibly "BS Barbie" has a very subtle sense of humour?  🙄

Horrifying but Trump Kindergarten Speak is permeating throughout the White House. And these people probably have a varsity education.

Oh well - the worst President just got given a message, the gloves are off and the stakes have been raised:

Joe Biden said Thursday that he would not pardon President Donald Trump if elected and insisted any prosecutorial decisions would be left to a more independent Justice Department.

Biden, while not speaking to any specific potential charge, committed to ensuring that any prosecutorial decisions would be dictated by the law, in contrast to what he called the "dereliction of duty” by Trump and his attorney general, William Barr.

"It's hands off completely. The attorney general is not the president's lawyer. It's the people's lawyer,” Biden said. “We never saw anything like the prostitution of that office like we see it today.”

The Washington Post - Trump’s strategy: First, dismantle Mueller. Then peddle ‘Obamagate.’

today

President Trump wants to wipe away the stain of Russian interference on his behalf in the 2016 election.

There are two tracks in this effort: one that reached its culmination in the past week, the other percolating for years but weaponized recently by Trump himself.

1.  “The Great Undoing,” the effort to unravel the work of former special counsel Robert S. Mueller III. ...

● Barr both misstating the findings of the Mueller report and effectively usurping the role of the special counsel by preemptively proclaiming that “the evidence developed during the Special Counsel’s investigation is not sufficient to establish that the President committed an obstruction-of-justice offense.” (Mueller reached no such conclusion.)

● Barr disputing the finding by the Justice Department’s inspector general that the Russia investigation had a proper basis and was not motivated by anti-Trump animus.

● Barr dispatching U.S. Attorney John Durham to look into the origins of the Russia probe - and, even before Durham’s report is in - declaring that “what happened to [Trump] was one of the greatest travesties in American history” - an investigation started “without any basis” and, once Trump took office, “a whole pattern of events . . . to sabotage the presidency - or at least have the effect of sabotaging the presidency.”

● Barr intervening in the sentencing of Trump ally Roger Stone to override the recommendations of career prosecutors, who worked under Mueller’s direction until he closed up shop.

● And, now, Barr moving to undo the Michael Flynn guilty plea.

2. “OBAMAGATE!”  AKA "Lock Her Up 2” ...

The next step in the enterprise is equating Trump’s behavior and the criminal conduct of those around him with that of his opponents, on the theory that if you fling enough mud at the other side, it will obscure and distract from the muck covering you.

This worked, or at least helped, during the 2016 campaign, with Flynn, appropriately enough, leading the “lock her up” chants about Hillary Clinton at the Republican convention.

Now, Trump and company want to lock up the rest of the supposedly corrupt bunch - Obama! Biden! - for unspecified, likely because they are unspecifiable, crimes. ...

Yelling “Obamagate!” in the overheated theater of the presidential election serves, or so Trump hopes, both to justify Barr’s intervention in the Russia probe cases and to distract voters from his disastrous response to the coronavirus pandemic. ...

Doesn't UV light help kill bugs and viruses? Perhaps that's his secret strategy.
