I will either not be voting, or going Green.

That will really make a difference.

Yes indeed it will.  Much more of a difference, ever, than voting for the same corrupt bipartisan corporate oligarchs every 4 years does.

The electoral system right now is, toss a dice

tails: voters lose

heads: establishment, wall st: wins

Carl Bernstein reacts  .. "This is one of the great presidential felonies of all time – maybe the greatest presidential felony, .. "  ... "This is a kind of homicidal negligence. Thousands and thousands and thousands of people have lost their lives because the President put his own re-election interest"

Fred99:

You've been triggered - along with many US conservatives - by a very plausible if "anonymous" and "unprovable" report that is absolutely true to form and no worse than the fully verified attack by Trump on McCain.

It's "within character".  If you and the rest of Breitbart want the story to go away, you'd be better to ignore it rather than fight it by character assassination of a journalist.

Pretty lame to attack a journalist for (in your opinion) lying, when you're on a crusade to excuse the biggest proven liar - who has infinitely more power.

I'd couldn't care less about if the story goes away - just that you question the guy who wrote it, his journalistic reputation, and his motivations.  And why the anonymous sources don't go on record - Trump is an existential threat to democracy after all.

Its not an opinion that Goldberg lies.  Its not an opinion that the Iraq war was started on false pretenses.  Its not an opinion that the American people were lied to.  Iraq WMD was was a lie, and Goldberg helped convince the American people about how much of a baddie Saddam was.  That is a fact, not an opinion.

Did Goldberg ever apologize for lying?  Did he ever retract and correct his story?  Did anyone, in power, ever get held to account for killing 5,000 American soldiers, 000,000s of Iraqs and cost Trillions of US$?  No.

a revolution/civil war etc is the logical eventual outcome, when the people aren't listened to.  Americans have continually voted for change over multiple election cycles now, but only get corporate shills instead.

@nathan may well be correct about about a "revolution" being inevitable, just have a look at what's been going on in Kentucky. One itchy trigger finger will set a situation like that off.

The question would be what would the outcome be? If the far-right won would we be looking at Gilead (except racist as well)?

What happens to people in the administration who "go on record" against vindictive tyrants like Trump?

Trump's implicit support (by lack of condemnation) of tyrants like Putin, MBS etc "taking the next step" probably a reasonable guide to a future US, it's not as if the same 40% of the US public who are in unconditional love with a tyrant wouldn't cheer if a reporter or opposition politician had an unfortunate "accident".  It's also not as if there was a fair and open election in Russia that Putin wouldn't win with a huge popular majority.

And now for something completely different ...

BBC News - Trump Nobel Peace Prize nomination

today

Less than two months before the US election, President Donald Trump seems to have something to celebrate - a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.

A far-right Norwegian politician has put Mr Trump's name forward for the 2021 prize, citing the president's role in the recent peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

Christian Tybring-Gjedde told Fox News on Wednesday: "For his merit, I think he has done more trying to create peace between nations than most other peace prize nominees."

Adding that he was not a big Trump supporter, he added. "The committee should look at the facts and judge him on the facts - not on the way he behaves sometimes."

  • Tybring-Gjedde also nominated Trump for the prize in 2018, citing his Singapore summit with Kim.

  • Tybring-Gjedde's daughter Mathilde, a member of Parliament for the center-right Conservative Party, has criticized the nomination.

  • Adolf Hitler was nominated for the peace prize in 1939 by a member of the Swedish parliament.

Rikkitic: Nathan you have your sources, I have mine. Lots of links

Thanks Rikkitic for returning to proof-based post, with actual links to proof.

A nice change from Nathan's unsubstantiated spam.

You're welcome. Most of Nathan's unsubstantiated spam seems to come straight from Glen Greenwald. It would be decent to at least credit him as an inspiration.

I like Greenwald and I think he has produced some worthwhile work, but some of his stuff needs to be taken with a big grain of salt. He seems to have a particular hatred for Jeffrey Goldberg, who has made no secret of his sympathies. For what it's worth, I also support the Palestinians and think they have got a very raw deal, but that doesn't mean I think the Israelis should be pushed into the sea. I support the Kurds as well, and in spite of Nathan's spammy claims, Goldberg actually explains himself here.

I have avoided getting into specifics with our troll because I know how that goes: It is exactly like wrestling with a pig. For that reason I will not bother responding to any new barrage of twisted 'facts' he comes back with. I just wanted to clear this up.

Trump Admits Corona Coverup in Audio Recordings

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah

The Justice Department is taking over Trump's defense in a defamation suit with a woman who accused him of rape, Bob Woodward's new book proves that President Trump purposely downplayed the coronavirus threat, and Trump secretly admits systemic racism is real.

Rikkitic:

I detest Trump and it doesn't matter who his opponent is, or what their record or history is. I would vote for a paedophile over Trump.

That's not necessarily good reasoning. The enemy of my enemy is not my friend, he's merely my enemy's enemy. Look at what happened when the Allies hooked up with Stalin just because he wasn't Hitler.

That's the Boogaloo, which a lot of far-right nutters have been having wet dreams over for awhile now. So at least one outcome would be a bunch of very satisfied far-right nutters getting to do en masse what Rittenhouse did by himself.

I was kind of disappointed by No Place to Hide, every time he ran into a dead end or couldn't verify something it was because he was being stonewalled by some conspiracy or other, it wasn't good journalism at all. That is, his investigation of the story was thorough, but his reporting of it wasn't anywhere close to impartial.
