Rikkitic: Nathan you have your sources, I have mine. Lots of links

Thanks Rikkitic for returning to proof-based post, with actual links to proof.

A nice change from Nathan's unsubstantiated spam.

a link to a mainstream media story regurgitating anonymous sources is literally not proof - You wouldn't believe this story if it was about Biden...

the author of the story has form for lying about national security state matters

we all know what's going on here, they're playing on Americans distorted brainwashed patriotism, and hate the fact Trump publicly called out Pentagon officials for receiving "phone calls from Industry" their defense industry mates complaining about Trump stopping overseas arms sales, and overriding the President.

we know no one in the Pentagon can explain to the American people why troops are still in Iraq & Afghanistan, 17 & 19 years later.  The more bombs and planes sold, the happier the Defense industry, and a better job they'll get once they leave the Defense Dept

both parties support mindless overseas military interventionism, to them the more US troops sent overseas the better - their narrative is Trump hates the troops so much, because he's bringing them home out of harms way, to see their families

and in spite of Nathan's spammy claims, Goldberg actually explains himself here.

those are crocodile tears, stop being so gullible.

Its just like Biden saying he opposed the Iraq war from “the moment” it began.

It wasn’t until 2005, that Biden acknowledged his 2002 vote authorizing force in Iraq was “a mistake.”

and it was just “bad judgment”

yeah right

And then there’s always Bob Woodward with the latest outrage:

https://edition.cnn.com/2020/09/09/politics/bob-woodward-rage-book-trump-coronavirus/index.html

But of course Bob Woodward is just another yellow journalist with no credibility.

The most legitimate anti-Trump book off all of them released this year, because of the tapes.  Probably the nail in the coffin for Trump.  Reminding voters weeks before an election about how much of a clown he is.

Not so much the playing the virus down, everyone can see that, but the fact he knew it was airborne, 5x deadlier than the flu etc and didn't tell the truth to the public.  Damning.

But just as the Democrats want to see us all burn down for political reasons, so do the Republicans for ideological reasons - Woodward could've let the public know the President was lying months ago, but saves it, for the most opportune time, to drive additional sales of his new book.

I was kind of disappointed by No Place to Hide, every time he ran into a dead end or couldn't verify something it was because he was being stonewalled by some conspiracy or other, it wasn't good journalism at all. That is, his investigation of the story was thorough, but his reporting of it wasn't anywhere close to impartial.

One thing Greenwald is not, is impartial. He has a very big axe to grind. But that doesn't prevent him from often being interesting and informative.

I wish I had a dollar for every time someone said that about whatever Trump's latest "scandal" was on any given day.

More likely a deliberately timed move to do as much damage to Trump's campaign as he deserves and as little time to recover.  Trump's managed to escape consequences for his own actions by constantly bombarding the US with "distraction" scandals.  It's hard to keep up - any of the many vile disgusting things he's been exposed for should have been the end of his presidency.

The "official" Covid 19 death till will be over 200,000 dead by this time next week.  Tallying excess deaths puts the toll much higher.  By the time of the Woodward interview, it was too late, Trump and the WH had completely botched the response - it was out of control, past the point of no return.  So Trump focuses all his efforts on blaming China, blaming NYC, blaming the media, gas-lighting, instead of trying to mitigate / reduce deaths. Because he doesn't care - he's a monster.

The introduction to an interesting longer article ...

Of course, if Trump hadn't actually lied in the first place, this wouldn't have happened, right?

I don't think so, there have been several post-recording-release polls that are pretty much identical to pre-recording-release polls. Edwin Edwards once said that the only way he'd lose is if he was caught in bed with either a dead girl or a live boy. Trump wouldn't even lose in that case. The electorate is so polarized that if he... well he's already pretty much done everything I could mention already.

Some unemployed rednecks who don't believe in the virus might be a little peeved to learn that their god-man shut down the entire American economy for no reason at all.

Pence - when Governor in Indiana - "shut down" the only clinic in a poverty ridden county that was testing for HIV - because it was being run out of a "planned parenthood" clinic (it wasn't even conducting pregnancy terminations). The direct result of his action was an HIV epidemic - and many people died.
I guess he might have been frightened by some of the replies and comments about Trump's fiasco labelling it as negligent homicide - something he's 100% guilty of and doesn't want to be reminded about.  Maybe the Jesus god works in mysterious ways, but it's definitely not through Pence or his god-emperor.

Washington Post: Trump is destroying the Republican Party. Why won’t any of his peers speak up?

...Post associate editor Bob Woodward’s new revelations regarding President Trump’s pandemic performance will forever tarnish the 45th president’s legacy, but Trump’s savage attacks on America’s military leaders and war dead will leave a lasting scar on his Republican Party. The playboy scion, who avoided military service in Vietnam by claiming bone spurs, told Woodward that the decorated military leaders who serve him are “pussies” and “suckers.” It can be no coincidence that the president reportedly also called the 1,800 Marines who died at Belleau Wood “suckers” for giving their lives in war. After those comments were reported by the Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg, Trump predictably made matters worse for himself by mounting a defense that showed just how much he loathed the military and those who serve as its leaders.

“They want to do nothing but fight wars so that all of those wonderful companies that make the bombs and make the planes and make everything else stay happy,” Trump blurted out at a news conference. This commander in chief offering lectures on the excesses of the military-industrial complex is laughable. He has, after all, championed weapons sales like no president before him. Trump even refused to cancel billions in arms sales to Saudi Arabia after the killing of Post contributing columnist Jamal Khashoggi because he didn’t want to “lose an order like that.” He said doing so would be unfair to Boeing, Lockheed and Raytheon.

Trump’s Republican Party has been damaged yet again by their leader’s offensive statements. It has also lost any claim it ever had at being the U.S. military’s bulwark against left-wing attacks. A recent Military Times poll suggests that most active duty troops agree, with a plurality supporting Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s presidential bid.
