nathan: if you don't follow the tax laws you are stupid, otherwise you are making stuff up, and you're sending extra cash to Uncle Sam

Of course its legal, to keep as much of your own cash as possible

Anyone who pays more than is legally owed, is an idiot, but the US Treasury will happily accept extra cheques from suckers

Do I really need to defend taxes as being necessary?

If Republicans don't like taxes, perhaps they should stop spending money on defense first.

They also need to call it what it really is, Offense. The last time the US used their military to defend themselves from foreign attack was, IIRC, the War of 1812.

Not entirely correct. The Germans landed an eight-man invasion army in WWII, who were eventually rounded up after asking the FBI where they might find some good targets to blow up. The Japanese firebombed some trees on the west coast. They also spent some time at Pearl Harbour, if that counts as American territory.

Exactly like a tin pot banana republic dictator.

except its literally not - Trump was elected, and he didn't have anything to do with writing the laws, that make those things legal.

Trump is under investigation for some of these issues, the legality of some of it is questionable.

By putting yet another Republican in the Supreme Court, Trump is just hedging his bets that they'll choose his way if he loses.

Then again, what if Biden wins by a very large landslide?

Who am I kidding, of course Trump will bang on about it forever and take him to court.

Trump's (and the GOP's) dream is to be given the Presidency, much like Hinderburg made Hitler Chancellor just so that a government could be formed.

All Nazis.

If we cared about the actual underlying problem, its more useful to think about Trump as a professional-wrestler-entertainer, stoking division for the crowd, amping them up, creating cliffhangers and tension, than a Nazi.

Calling Trump a unique evil existential threat Hitler-type figure is as thoughtless as Trump saying Biden has formed an unholy alliance with the radical left.  At this point I wish that was true.

“Vice President Biden intends to deliver his debate answers in words. If the president thinks his best case is made in urine he can have at it,” said Kate Bedingfield, Biden’s deputy campaign manager. “We’d expect nothing less from Donald Trump, who pissed away the chance to protect the lives of 200K Americans when he didn't make a plan to stop COVID-19.”

Do the Republicans have 86% of the votes?  No, absolutely not.

Ridiculously, defense has the highest bi-partisan support of any issue

Its by-design, the American public gets brainwashed to blend nationalism + patriotism together

I get the feeling Trump will just wing it again when he comes to the debates, kinda like he did in 2016 as well.

not having to pay federal income tax, can be seen as being smart

tax avoidance and evasion are 2 different things

Trump, like all politicians, and elites are guilty of being hypocrites, privileged, and supporting unequitable public policy around how Americans are taxed

The only people that care about this taxes issue, are independents and swing voters in the 7 states that determine the election, and there is a tiny tiny number of them

Winging it worked well for him last time

The debates don't matter so much now-there are far far fewer less undecided.  Also 1M have already voted, at this point 4 years ago, only 95,000 had

Biden's problem is that because he's been hiding in his basement and not taking press questions for 6 months, you have to wonder how out of touch with reality he is - the Jake Tapper/CNN interview from 2 weeks ago, shows how inept he is at defending the words that have come out of his mouth, and votes he did

Trumps problem is Biden has lucid moments, and Trump has painted him as a senile old fool, when he has been quite capable previously of having excellent traditional political debating skills, the VP debate against Paul Ryan 8 years ago was absolutely brilliant

Biden's advantage is 200K deaths

Trumps advantage is that no opponent, or press has really been able to get the better of him on camera
