Regardless of what you think of someone’s politics, it’s pretty horrible wishing ill will on a President. He’s still an elected American president.

Poetic justice is one thing.

The Washington Post - Journalists, beware: This White House can’t be trusted to be truthful about Trump’s health

today

With President Trump apparently struck by covid-19 a month before a critical election and after 200,000 American deaths from the disease, what we really need right now is an entirely credible, fact-based voice from the White House.

Good luck with that.  ...

With the exception of Anthony S. Fauci, and maybe a few other top medical experts, there isn’t a trusted truth-teller in sight. ...

Once upon a time, when a president or his press secretary made a statement on an crucially important matter, it was simply considered news. And reported as such.

The time for that is long past. The stakes are higher than ever, and the demand for proof should be, too.

Otherwise, Americans will reasonably come to an unavoidable conclusion:

If the statement is from the president’s tweet, or from the press secretary’s mouth, there’s no reason to think it’s true.

EDIT

I don't endorse this video, but Michael Moore is considered an important commentator.

Trump Has COVID-19, But...

Michael Moore

Donald Trump has a history of lying about his health (and about the health of his political opponents). So how should we handle his announcement that he and Melania have tested positive for COVID-19? Michael Moore shares his thoughts on this EMERGENCY PODCAST SYSTEM edition of Rumble.

Washington Post: Misinformation spikes as Trump confirms COVID-19 diagnosis

News Friday that President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump had tested positive for COVID-19 sparked an explosion of rumors, misinformation and conspiracy theories that in a matter of hours littered the social media feeds of many Americans.

Tweets shared thousands of times claimed Democrats might have somehow intentionally infected the president with the coronavirus during the debates. Others speculated in Facebook posts that maybe the president was faking his illness....

...Nearly 30,000 Twitter users had retweeted a variety of conspiracy theories about the news by Friday morning, according to an analysis by VineSight, a tech company that tracks online misinformation....

Roughly 10,000 of those retweets touted the drug hydroxychloroquine, an unproven treatment for COVID-19, as a treatment for the president. Another 13,000 retweets were related to a QAnon conspiracy theory that the president is going into quarantine while mass arrests of high-profile politicians like Trump’s former Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton are carried out, according to the company’s analysis.

Most of the conversation was coming from unverified accounts on Twitter, said Gideon Blocq, the CEO of VineSight....

...In perhaps a sign of what’s to come, state-backed Russian television channel RT tweeted a story suggesting that Biden’s prolonged coughing from the debate raised concerns for the former vice president after Trump’s test. In the last presidential election, Russia launched an online misinformation campaign with bogus social media accounts that aimed to sway U.S. voters’ opinions in the race, and there are signs that the Kremlin is at it again.

Watts said Russian-backed accounts are mostly only trolling the president and the White House so far, but they are just getting started — especially given that the president has only begun his quarantine.

“They are going to position all sorts of conspiracies or amplify American conspiracies,” Watts said.

BBC News Anti-disinformation unit: Trump did not call Covid-19 a 'hoax' - and other false claims

...A 'doomsday plane' was not launched in response to the news

One of the scariest rumours was that a US plane that can deliver commands to nuclear missiles was launched in the wake of the news.

One viral tweet claimed that the E-6B Mercury took off to warn "adversaries" - a show of force to deter a potential attack.

The tweet included an image of a flight path over the east coast of the US, taken from a flight tracking site.

But public flight data shows that E-6B Mercury flights - often called "doomsday planes" - are common, even when the president is well. In fact, they happen about every other day.

The particular plane in question has flown 19 times in the past month.

In a statement, a military spokesman confirmed the E-6B flights were part of planned missions.

He added that "any timing to the president's announcement was purely coincidental."...

Just a reminder about conservatives/republicans arguing that saying "Happy Holidays" is an insult to Jesus, to Christians, to "our" heritage.

From the First *"Lady" of the United States:

"I’m working like a — my ass off at Christmas stuff, You know, who gives a f$ck about Christmas stuff and decoration?"

...

"I say that I’m working on Christmas planning for the Christmas, and they said, ‘Oh, what about the children?’ That they were separated."

"Where they were saying anything when Obama did that?"

(they weren't saying anything about "Obama doing it" - because he wasn't)

*"Lady" is the feminine equivalent of gentleman, Donald's no gentleman, and Melania's no lady.

Wow what a nonstop day!
My 2c - I don't want Trump to die, wouldn't wish that on anyone. However, I do want to see him recover and lose the election in a landslide.
