Batman:

reading some 'opinion' and 'news' on fox - Trump supporters believe in him more than ever. it's going to be close!

People still have to remember Fox news is still a cable network and it is the most popular but it still only has an audience of 2.5 million people that watch it live daily.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Don't forget the idiots over at Breitbart too. And Scott Adams, once-respected cartoonist.

Plus who knows how many viewers via the web.

Some of which are in NZ, sigh.

neb: Are the Proud Boys standing by?

Google "Proud Boys George Takei", #ProudBoys (on twitter) or look at maybe half the new posts on  r/pics on Reddit over the past couple of days.

Something really funny (and good and genius) has happened on the interweb - thanks to Sulu.

Yup.  ProudBoys have taken over much of Reddit, seems to have gained momentum. Seriously, Takei should be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for starting that.

Mainstream media, both CNN and Fox, lie to us. There’s a reason the “fake news” name sticks to the MSM. Both take a fact and fit that fact to fit in their narrative. News is entertainment for them

I watched CNN for a few mins last night, they said the WH is lying to the public about Trumps health, but made no mention of other times WH has reported on a sick President status, and made no mention of the times a President willingly invoked 25th Amendment, while they were under anesthesia

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Spinoff looks at both sides of him getting sick: https://thespinoff.co.nz/politics/04-10-2020/what-does-donald-trump-catching-covid-19-mean-for-his-re-election-chances/

On a couple of things I disagree with article. Trump is not much younger than Biden. The difference is "wow, he's old" to "wow, he's old as f__k"

Biden, now 77 years old, is expected to outlive Trump due to his “exceptional health profile for a man his age,” with a projected lifespan of 96.8 years and a 95.2% likelihood of surviving his presidential term.

Trump, who’s 74, has “significant but modifiable” risk factors due to his “obesity and sedentary lifestyle,” but his estimated lifespan is 88.6 years and he has a 90.3% probability of surviving a second term.

They also said "The greatest president in US history, measured by victories Franklin Roosevelt, was also the most challenged by his health. A victim of polio, he spent his entire presidency in a wheelchair. The point is not that Covid could turn Trump into FDR. It is to observe how far illness can empower a president."

You'll almost never find a photo of FDR in his wheelchair. There was a gentlemen's agreement with the press to minimize the wheelchair. I suspect the vast majority of Americans didn't know he had polio, and was wheelchair bound. Even when doing his famous railroad speeches from cabooses, he wen to great pains not to be rolled out in front of a crowd.

The White House has full medical facilities. Obviously not as well-equipped as an emergency wing of a hospital.

Of course, Trump can better control the narrative away from the more public hospital.

Being in the White House would also appeal more to his ego, so I'd expect he's ignoring medical advice, and forcefully insisting on his return at the earliest possible moment.

It could backfire, if he's takes a turn for the worse and is returned to a hospital. There'd be limited ways to spin it.

The New York Times - What to Know About Sean Conley, the White House Physician

updated today

headings only

  • He became the president’s physician two years ago

  • He is a doctor of osteopathic medicine *

  • He supported Mr. Trump’s taking hydroxychloroquine

  • He gave an update about the president that later came under question

*  "Doctors of osteopathic medicine, or D.O.s, are fully licensed physicians, according to the American Osteopathic Association. Their training is similar to that of traditional medical doctors but differs in that they are trained to look at the body and its care holistically rather than just prescribing medicine for specific symptoms or illnesses."

"Osteopathic medicine".

Nope. " Osteopaths in New Zealand are not fully licensed physicians." (Wikipedia).

In the USA is very different. Too much money going around so even MDs ended up going for the "osteopathic medicine" angle.
