I actually agree with you about campaign finance reform. Will wonders never cease?

Of course many TV families would starve without the obscene amounts spent on political advertising. But then other families might be able to buy food if they didn't have to support fund-raisers.

I say Republicans because I vehemently disagree with you that all politicians are equal. I would have thought I had made that abundantly clear by now.

Every American is born an Independent before they get brainwashed thru indoctrination to be a Dem or a Republican.  I still remember when I moved here, got my drivers license and they asked did I want to be registered as a Dem or Rep.  wth lol

I think you're confused by what Politicians say they are going to do, vs. what they do.

If you think there isn't just 1 party, then pick, say, the top 5 policy areas that you care about, and try to find a substantive difference between our 2 "choices".  I can't, for my top 5 as an American voter.  Maybe you can.  I might be too cynical, or I might be right.

I note you are also terming Trump's America a Fascist oligarchy. I thought you disputed the Fascist label. But do feel free to change your mind.

The media and the Democrats care about a lot more than you may think. There is a difference between cynicism and insight.

If they cared, there would be some evidence of that

I got hung up on literal fascist vs figuratively speaking, I've met you, where you're at.

The MSM do not care, they get paid either way, they just need content, chewing gum for our eyes.  They don't have to worry about paying rent or having health insurance.  The President of CNN is laughing all the way to bank, and even considered giving Trump a weekly show in 2016.

I’m very conscious of not putting too much in email, as you’re a lawyer, as you understand,” Zucker told him. “And, you know, as fond as I am of the boss, he also has a tendency, like, you know, if I call him or I email him, he then is capable of going out at his next rally and saying that we just talked and I can’t have that, if you know what I’m saying.”

“It’s not that I don’t want to talk to [Trump] every day. I’ve just got to be careful, because, I’ve just got to be careful … I just don’t want him talking about it on the campaign trail … But you know what? I’m going to give him a call right now and I’m going to wish him luck in the debate tonight,” he continued.

The MSM have inflicted the stupid Russiagate conspiracy theory on this country now for 4 years, the evidence is just around the corner we've been told for 3 years, everything will be clear once we see Trumps tax returns we were told.  MSNBC journalists have built their career off it, but amazingly we don't hear a single word when none of that was true, and when the FBI continues to lose credibility by having their lawyer charged with altering a CIA document to say Carter Page wasn't a CIA asset.  You can't make this stuff up.

Well he's definitely not faking those grimaces and "I feel pain but I'm not going to show it" expressions.

Being a good actor means having empathy, getting into someone else's mind, and he just doesn't have that skill.

Kudos to his make-up person though.

The New York Times - White House Is Not Contact Tracing ‘Super-Spreader’ Rose Garden Event

today

Despite almost daily disclosures of new coronavirus infections among President Trump’s close associates, the White House is making little effort to investigate the scope and source of its outbreak.

The White House has decided not to trace the contacts of guests and staff members at the Rose Garden celebration 10 days ago for Judge Amy Coney Barrett, where at least eight people, including the president, may have become infected ...

Instead, it has limited its efforts to notifying people who came in close contact with Mr. Trump in the two days before his Covid diagnosis Thursday evening.

It has also cut the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which has the government’s most extensive knowledge and resources for contact tracing, out of the process. ...

This is just so Trump:

Trump mocked for signing apparently blank paper in ‘staged’ photos at Walter Reed

The Trump administration’s credibility crisis continues as the president is mocked for apparently signing a blank piece of paper with a marker in photos taken at Walter Reed military hospital, in a vain attempt to show him working while fighting coronavirus.

[...]

Mr Trump’s attempts to appear undefeated by Covid-19 were quickly picked apart by eagle-eyes commentators, who took to social media to accuse him of staging the photos.

Jon Ostrower, editor-in-chief of aviation publication The Air Current, took a closer look at data embedded in the photos shared by the White House, and found they were taken just 10 minutes apart but showed the president working in two different places.

I don't know if anyone here has ever seen 'Triumph des Willens' ('Triumph of the Will') by Leni Riefenstahl, but I just saw the clip of Trump's helicopter arrival at the White House on the news, and that was precisely what it reminded me of. For those who don't know, Triumph des Willens is a pioneering highly staged propaganda documentary that portrays Hitler's arrival and command of the 1934 Nuremberg nazi party congress. Riefenstahl invented most of the set pieces copied by later filmmakers and her portrayal of Hitler descending in a plane like a mythological god was - to use a very overused term - unprecedented.

Trump is reckless. He doesn't care about anyone around him and he doesn't care about Americans in general. A person who received a unique treatment not available to practically anyone else on Earth, and who decided to go back home even though he's body is clearly in distress should not tell others "don't worry about COVID-19."

He's a horrible person and his enablers are evil.

"Trump mounts bizarre and misleading White House return despite warnings"

A strongly medicated President Donald Trump bolted from his VIP hospital bubble Monday, staging a bizarre White House comeback that included an irresponsible mask removal and a reckless pronouncement there is nothing to fear from Covid-19, which has already killed 210,000 Americans.

His actions show him, if anything, entrenched deeper in denial over the virus than ever before and more committed to trashing scientific protocols that could slow the pandemic.

"We're going back. We're going back to work. We're gonna be out front. As your leader I had to do that. I knew there's danger to it but I had to do it," Trump says in a strange campaign video whipped up by aides within an hour of his return to the White House, in which the President framed himself as a warrior who took on the virus and won.

"I stood out front. I led. Nobody that's a leader would not do what I did. I know there's a risk, there's a danger," Trump said, despite his doctors earlier saying he is still not fully "out of the woods" in his fight with the virus.

A still infectious Trump ignored advisers who wanted him to stay admitted and instead rode Marine One from Walter Reed Military National Military Medical Center back to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Profound questions remain about the state of the President's health after he tested positive for the disease last week and suffered two dips in oxygen levels. A torrent of misinformation surrounds his condition, including when he actually got sick. That health information is crucial to establishing whether the President went ahead with official duties while potentially infectious with Covid-19.

Meanwhile, the virus continues to rip through the White House, which has become a hotspot amid flagrant violations of social distancing.

"‘Unjustifiable hysteria’: Republican recalcitrance about the virus persists even as GOP faces growing turmoil"

Widespread Republican recalcitrance about federal health guidelines showed few signs of waning on Monday, even as the party faces growing turmoil following President Trump’s hospitalization and as more White House aides test positive for the novel coronavirus.

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany and at least two of her deputies have now contracted the virus, further derailing the functioning of a West Wing plunged into crisis and adding to a long list of top Republicans who have been infected.

But many Republicans continue to dismiss calls for alarm — and for changes to the party’s message on the virus and its operations.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), who tested positive last week, said in an interview with a conservative talk-show host that there is “a level of unjustifiable hysteria” about a virus that has killed nearly 210,000 Americans and asked, “Why do we think we actually can stop the progression of a contagious disease?”

Johnson added that “from day one, we never should have gone through the shutdowns” and said, “We’ve got to carry on with our lives.”

Trump's rallies are amateur theatricals compared to the Cecil B.DeMille spectacle the Nazis put on. Mussolini has been described by historians as a "sawdust Caesar" and that's how I see Trump, a muddling buffoon with delusions of grandeur.
