I can't think of one thing that gives us the right to burn another countries flag over an election result.

It looked like the local Communist Party considering all the bits of red I saw.

Speaking to some American friends just now, they're less bothered with seeing their flag burn here than on their own soil. All the same, they said it was a pity.

It's happening around the globe in small pockets.

I agree with his about Democrats who aren't prepared to fight tooth and nail for 8 years. I don't disagree with all of Trumps policies, but the Democrats need to sit up and note that Hillary won the Popular vote, and therefore they have a mandate to fight tooth and nail to stop Trump doing what the majority disagree with. I am sort of half expecting Trump to not complete a term or not challenge for a second term at the worst, but honestly I am unsure if the VP is better.

But it also depends what Trump does - his support amongst GOP is hardly unanimous - if he turns himself into such a liability that polls started to swing showing that the GOP would be wiped out in mid-term elections, his own party may strike first.

Talking above about protests etc, and poor behaviour by some in the anti-Trump movement, it's really a serious strategic mistake if that's allowed to carry on - they need to pull their heads in. I doubt Trump can hold support - there's far too much press freedom, far too much respect for the constitution - most people are decent people. I surely hope and expect he'll self-destruct. But if the anti-Trump movement does become a threat to stability, I have no doubt that Trump will use that to his advantage, isolate and condemn another entire group as "a danger and threat" .

Trump may not be as dumb, he might have a team around him that has decent support from the senate and the house to mediate and do the donkey work.

IMHO he will just be a figurehead. Every idea he has, dumb or serious, the team will tell him the 38 reasons why not. He may have gaffes. State stuff then backtrack, I can see that a lot as his mouth runs ahead of what his team tell him what can and cannot be done. Then it will all become obvious when his oration rarely turns into action.

They're all figureheads. President has very little power. Read up about what happens to presidents that suggest things like moving away from Rothschild federal reserve onto a gold backed system.

There may be a time when (peaceful) protesting does become appropriate - if the US ends up committing atrocities - hopefully not. "Rent a mob" protests now would be counter-productive to any future efforts to "send a message" - not that I'd expect the US to take any particular notice anyway.

I agree, it's WAY to early to protest (if you were to at all), there are no signs of the election being rigged etc.

I doubt many Ex Pats would bother, and I agree, sign waving, big waste of time.

Like freitasm, I find Trump's popularity completely incomprehensible ...

You can see in maps that are less granular than States that Trump won nearly every county throughout the US... the exceptions were the large cities.

I think part of it is that, unlike NZ where the left wing tends to be poor and people-centred and the right-wing rich and business-centred, in the US the Republican party is the home of the working class, whereas the Democrats are rich liberals. Trump has very successfully tapped into this connection.

But, finally she lost. I still don't get that. How come Mr. Donald Trump won the presidency after all this.

Can anybody explain this o me? All I see is that, no matter who they support the crowd said Hilary Clinton will win.

Umm ... most people said AB would beat Ireland of all people. Right? Wrong.

One of the many Reasons (no I'm not expert but I do know a thing or two about stats and sampling)

You hire people to do a poll. Who will they pick to poll? People with iphones? People with Linknd accounts? People who are tech savvy? Or the farmers in rural America? The Western Baptist who don't do social media/use technology? The people who aren't listed on the white pages because they're too poor, the unseen, the invisible in society? Each of those have one vote. Same number of vote as a lawyer or Bill Gates. One.
