Unlike the majority of commenters I have both worked in parts of the government where I perhaps had access to more information about this sort of thing than most do and also lived through a terrorist campaign that saw death and destruction on the streets of the country I was living in for decades.

That must have been very traumatic for you. It explains your ideas, but it doesn't make them right. If someone tries to smash me, I will do what I can to defend myself, but I will not, like that ignorant woman did, refuse to sit next to a Sikh on the plane just because he looks different. I will not judge people on the basis of their appearance and I will not refuse to give strangers the benefit of the doubt. Are you suggesting that if someone gets beheaded in the street, or a shopping plaza gets blown up, that we should all grab guns and rush out and start mowing down everyone that we think might look like a Muslim? What are you suggesting?

I'm sorry, but it's human nature to discriminate, especially based on fear. You can be aware of it, and manually override it, but if you didn't have the ability to discriminate you wouldn't be safe to be by yourself (Nor would you be able to tell one person from another).

Logic is the thing that helps people understand that their fear is irrational, but to suggest you never do it subconsciously, simply isn't correct.

I do not believe for a second that geektastic is suggesting that a beheading causes everyone to kill everyone else from the same race as the original offender, and I think you KNOW that.

I think he is saying that if someone identifies themselves as part of a terrorist group, they are to be treated in accordance with what the government or acting leadership of their community has decided is appropriate. In some countries that is death, others, it's prison, expulsion, or exclusion.

Quite. Also, rest assured that in the unfortunate event it happens here, the stark reality will change rather a lot of minds in very short order.

From the Daily Telegraph:

Donald Trump ecstatic after stunning win in Nevada with at least 45 per cent of the vote
Good morning. Donald Trump has trounced his Republican rivals with a decisive victory in Nevada which has sent shockwaves across the Grand Old Party.
Projections on TV networks gave Trump 46 percent of the vote, with senators Marco Rubio of Florida and Ted Cruz of Texas trailing some 20 points behind.
"We will be celebrating for a long time tonight," Trump told cheering supporters in a victory speech.
The lopsided result underscored the enormous challenge Trump's rivals face as the candidates head into next week's all important "Super Tuesday" contests involving 11 states.

The two main republican candidates are not yet attacking Trump as far as I am aware. I presume that is because neither has a clear shot, and both want to keep the VP spot open for a deal.

There are some shocking stories coming out of Europe. One in Germany where recently arrived Muslim refugees attacked the Drs and nurses who were unable to save their critically ill baby. Other stories of medical staff being spat upon and having urine thrown at them by refugees. There's plenty of stories where the refugees are showing no desire to respect the countries and the people that have taken them in.

All of this is playing right into Trumps hand. The people of the US don't want or need these sorts of people in the US. Trump is basically playing to their concerns.

A bit off topic, how is it the west is expected to take in all these refugees when fellow muslim Arab countries refuse to do so?

Because to a larger degree Arab countries don't worry about "political correctness" the same way that Europeans do!

If they are undesirable, they are out!

This refugee count from last year - it's increased since then.  Most are in Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq.

It's a serious mistake to say that the burden of this disaster is being carried by "the West".

It's pure evil to use that as a lie to incite bigotry for political gain.

Snopes should always be checked when a story too good/bad to be true seems to fit remarkably well what certain types of individual might want to believe.

F99, Interesting all those zeros for Saudi Arabia, EAE, Qatar, Kuwait. Why are they not doing their bit.

By the way I never said anything like

the burden of this disaster is being carried by "the West".
I was drawing a comparison between the numbers being taken in by the west to those being taken by the countries with a zero beside them in your graphic.  This isn't a lie, it's just stating facts.

I think the jury might be still out on this story. It appears Snopes isn't all it used to be

So those scenes on TV where refugee youths were throwing away perfectly good food, and stopping other refugee from eating the food and water and being down right ungrateful weren't true either?

You actually don't know what Saudi Arabia is doing.  There are claims that they've taken 1/2 million or 2 1/2 million Syrians.  It's a monarchy/dictatorship, not a signatory to UN refugee convention, no UN stats available.  So there isn't really a "fact", and anyway whatever the Sauds do shouldn't be used as a model for anything to do with human rights.

That's incoherent garbage.

I agree with snopes' analysis.

I agree. The "Sweden is now the "rape capital" of Western civilization and is the number one most dangerous country for women, outside of a single country in Africa. Swedish officials and corporate media conspired, similar to the migrant crisis in Germany, to withhold information from the public (for their "own good") and actually attempt to re-classify perpetrators of crime, in order to be incapable of identifying the rapists' common ideology. " statement on that page got me, so I Googled and found this and this.

This puts the whole "Snopes, Deception, and Agenda" page into context as non-credible. Got anything else, Technofreak?

From what I read today, Nevada is won by Trump, a growing list of wins, who can stop him now? (Alert words not mine)

But it begs the question, is he the running joke we all post about, or will he be one of the two being voted on? Ugh. I cannot even imagine it if he was President

Trumps wins need to be kept in perspective when considering who will be President rather than who will be the Republican candidate.

He polled just over 34,000 votes in Nevada. That's about 1% of the population of the state and 0.001% of the entire US population (courtesy of the BBC).

If he runs against Clinton I believe it will be a landslide for Hilary (and I have no particular leaning towards her).

Maybe. Personally I am not sure America is ready to follow the first black president with the first female one though.
