TRUMP TELLS JANUARY 6TH PANEL HE HAS DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY AS RUSSIAN OFFICIAL

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In his latest bid to prevent the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th Attack from obtaining relevant documents, Donald Trump has claimed diplomatic immunity in his capacity as a representative of the Russian government.

According to Trump’s legal argument, his status as a Russian official during his four years in the White House makes all documents produced during his tenure property of the Russian Federation.

“Any attempt by the U.S. to seize Russian property will be seen as an act of war,” a letter from Trump’s legal team reads.

While Trump waits to see if his claim of diplomatic immunity succeeds, he is also prepared to argue that, having once hired Rudolph Giuliani as his attorney, he would be justified in pleading insanity.

If he has nothing to hide, he (logically) should have no problems having any documents released. Of course, his supporters will never see it that way, and continue to think it's a (self-proclaimed by him) "political witch hunt"...while it's nothing of the sort.

Also, some of his supporters are absolutely pathetic: https://edition.cnn.com/2021/10/26/politics/secretaries-of-state-personal-threats-trump-election-lies/index.html << too scared to say it to their faces if they dare to defy their orange Dear Leader.

duplicitous, deceitful and dumb...

MSNBC: Trump 'Coup Lawyer' Caught On Video Boasting About Quasi-Legal Memo; Trashing Pence

"Rachel Maddow shares video published by Lauren Windsor of Donald Trump attorney John Eastman boasting of the legal soundness of his memo on how Mike Pence could have overturned the election for Trump, after he seemed to disavow the memo in an interview with the National Review."

LOL John Eastman, one of the biggest drop-kicks to ever call himself a "professor". In Rage, he apparently told Michael Pence that as VP he could just "decide" in 7 states (coincidentally, some being some of the ones Trump lost in 2020 that he won in 2016) that Trump had won and "gavel him in as president". Fortunately, Pence has a brain (and isn't spineless like this waste of oxygen) and followed the Constitution, not what this dumbarse thought was written there.
This clown is - fortunately - having the book thrown at him as well. He isn't a professor anymore, he "retired" from the university he was at before all this happened, he claims people were picking on him. Oh dear. How sad. Never mind. What does your BFF Trump think of you now? I bet he doesn't even talk to him anymore. Boohoo.

Yes, "people" like this make me very angry 😠

Yeah, but look at where he is (or was, he resigned) a professor, a school ranked 134th of the U.S. News & World Report rankings of 145 law schools. I assume the ones below that score are Trump University schools.

So he should resign, IMO...I wouldn't want a Trump apologist like him teaching my kids anything, ever. Totally ruined his career attending that ridiculous pointless rally...and for what? Trump still lost. Does he even care about this Eastman guy? Of course not. I hope Mr Eastman thinks giving up his career to support someone who couldn't care less about him after it's all over was worth it all...I certainly wouldn't!

Case in point, he reckoned that Ted Cruz, born in Canada (with one American parent) was "totally fine" to become president back in 2016. Yet Kamala Harris, born in California, (to immigrant parents) and is an American citizen? Nope, totally ineligible.

What the hell goes through this guy's head?

"Courage"?? How about "complete and utter fraud"? I feel that's a more fitting description for this former so-called "professor"'s lies.

I actually think Pence showed courage doing what he did in the end, not assenting to the demands of this dropkick (and others like him).

On 31 October 2021, The Washington Post published a very-long-form article about the Jan. 6 Insurrection entitled "Red Flags, Bloodshed, & Contagion".

It is the length of a small book, and behind a pay wall.

Read it if you can.

Even the Key Findings summary is far too long to publish here - so here is a summary of the summary:

Key findings of The Post’s Jan. 6 investigation    (condensed)

BEFORE THE ATTACK

  • Law enforcement officials did not respond with urgency to a cascade of warnings about violence on Jan. 6

  • Pentagon leaders had acute fears about widespread violence, and some feared Trump could misuse the National Guard to remain in power

  • The Capitol Police was disorganized and unprepared

  • Trump’s election lies radicalized his supporters in real time

DURING THE ATTACK

  • Escalating danger signs were in full view hours before the Capitol attack but did not trigger a stepped-up security response

  • Trump had direct warnings of the risks but stood by for 187 minutes before telling his supporters to go home

  • His allies pressured Pence to reject the election results even after the Capitol siege

  • The FBI was forced to improvise a plan to help take back control of the Capitol

AFTER THE ATTACK

  • Republican efforts to undermine the 2020 election restarted immediately after the Capitol attack

  • False election claims by Trump that spurred the Capitol attack have become a driving force in the Republican Party

  • Trump’s attacks have led to escalating threats of violence

  • First responders are struggling with deep trauma

HA HA! (sorry not sorry...couldn't have happened to a nicer person).

It couldn't happen to a more deserving creep. Everything Trump touches, he makes a mess of. It is hard to imagine how he ever won any election, but everything he has done since then has been a master class in incompetence. He cheats and lies at everything he does, but he does it so poorly that he can't get away with anything. He couldn't even stage a successful coup, when any tinpot dictator in the same position could have pulled it off with ease.
