No reason for treasonous idiots to not be sent to prison. Linking Trump to them is another story but seriously, whoever is caught should be treated as harshly as possible.

Phil Waldron, backer of Jan. 6 PowerPoint, says he met with Mark Meadows, briefed lawmakers - The Washington Post

A retired U.S. Army colonel who circulated a proposal to challenge the 2020 election, including by declaring a national security emergency and seizing paper ballots, said that he visited the White House on multiple occasions after the election, spoke with President Donald Trump’s chief of staff “maybe eight to 10 times” and briefed several members of Congress on the eve of the Jan. 6 riot.

Philip Waldron, the retired colonel, was working with Trump’s outside lawyers and was part of a team that briefed the lawmakers on a PowerPoint presentation detailing “Options for 6 JAN,” Waldron told The Washington Post. He said his contribution to the presentation focused on his claims of foreign interference in the vote, as did his discussions with the White House.

The PowerPoint circulated by Waldron included proposals for Vice President Mike Pence on Jan. 6 to reject electors from “states where fraud occurred” or replace them with Republican electors. It included a third proposal in which the certification of Joe Biden’s victory was to be delayed, and U.S. marshals and National Guard troops were to help “secure” and count paper ballots in key states.

The only difference between America and Burma is the military respecting the rule of law. When that goes, everything goes.

Don't take legal advice from Trump. Only the rich and powerful can "stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody"

Vanity Fair: Democrats to Ex-Trump Aide: You Can’t Dodge a Subpoena Just Because Trump Told You To

House Democrats investigating Donald Trump’s pandemic response have a new headache caused by ex-trade adviser Peter Navarro, who is refusing to comply with their subpoena because, as he put it, the 45th president gave him a “direct order” to claim executive privilege.

Trump appeared to make such a decree last month, noting in a statement that he was instructing his former aide to “protect executive privilege” by not complying with the congressional “Witch Hunt” into his administration’s handling of COVID-19.

As it turns out, this is not how claiming executive privilege works.

Representative James Clyburn, the House committee chairman probing Trump’s possible politicization of a pandemic that has killed hundreds of thousands of Americans, said as much in a letter to Navarro over the weekend. Navarro must comply with requests for documents and other information, Clyburn wrote, and appear for a deposition on December 15.

Navarro has “no valid basis for refusing to comply with the subpoena,” he added, noting that Navarro’s refusal “appears to be predicated on a press release” from Trump. As a former president, Trump “does not have ultimate authority to assert executive privilege over the records and information you possess,” Clyburn argued.

Navarro, a close consultant on Trump’s pandemic response and one of the vocal supporters of treating COVID-19 with hydroxychloroquine, an unproven treatment, was subpoenaed by the House after repeatedly refusing to respond to document requests in November. It was clear that Navarro didn’t plan on playing ball with the congressional investigation. In a statement to Politico following the subpoena, Navarro said he planned to deliver “a case of my new book In Trump Time to members of the committee” as his response.

Oh, yet another book praising the orange buffoon. Yes, I'm sure that will answer every single one of their concerns 🙄

Ironically, back when swine flu was an issue in the US in 2009, Trump said Obama should have resigned over the number of people that died (just shy of 3,500). Yet 400,000+ deaths under his watch due to coronavirus? Absolutely fine and "we've done a fantastic job".

In 2017, Bill O’Reilly, Fox News host, agreed to a $32 million sexual harassment allegations settlement, the largest of his known payouts. Then Fox News renewed his contract. Shortly after when both facts were made public, 50 advertisers had abandoned his show. Then he was forced to resign.

Orlando Florida Sentinel: Thousands of supporters flock to see Trump in Orlando, but it wasn’t a sellout

Thousands of supporters — though fewer than predicted — cheered Donald Trump in Orlando on Sunday as the former president proclaimed his usual litany of attacks and hinted he would run again in 2024.

Trump, who has been publicly flirting with another campaign for the White House for months now, was in town as part of his four-city “History Tour” with ex-Fox News host Bill O’Reilly.

“I said loud and clear,” he told the crowd at the Amway Center, repeating his false claims of victory over Joe Biden in 2020. “We won the first time, and the second time we won by even more. And it looks like we might have to think about very strongly a third time.”
...
Turnout was light enough that ticketholders for upper bowl seats were told they could sit in the lower section instead. Trump’s representatives had predicted the shows would sell out.

Tickets started at NZ $150, with VIP seats reportedly costing thousands more. But by Sunday morning, prices for some tickets had dropped to as low as NZD $60.

...O’Reilly insisted to the audience that “this is not a rally. ... We’re going to talk about very serious things.” But he mostly threw soft questions at Trump
...
Trump called Biden “a vessel” being controlled by former President Barack Obama.

Trump largely used the questions to riff on whatever subject he wanted, including calling GOP Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell a “dumb son of a bitch”
...
Trump took credit for the development of the COVID vaccines...

His comments came as reports show vaccination rates are largely lower in counties he won in 2020, and as Florida Gorvenor Ron DeSantis and others have made opposition to vaccine mandates a key part of their platforms.

Trump’s comment in favor of vaccines got applause, but not as much as his offhand remark of “no mandates, or whatever.”
...
Trump also downplayed the pro-Trump mob that attacked the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, instead boasting about how big his rally was in D.C. that day.

Given who attended and that it was in Matt Gaetz' home state, it appears they've mistyped "History of Sexual Predation Tour" in that story.

Why is it that the Retrumplicans are so good at getting the scum of the earth as their most prominent leaders? If you were to take away the sexual predators, the crazies, and the crooks, all you'd have is a leftover huddle of also-rans that people barely know exist.

Remember when we all thought Trump would quickly disappear into obscurity after he was out of office?

I think Bill Maher's slow moving coup theory is on the money. The US will be welcoming Trump back into office in 2025. Sorry if this has been posted before (age restricted for language I assume):

I agree completely with Maher's chilling analysis. At a time when we really need an Obama, the Democratic drawer appears disturbingly empty. Apart from that, Google's intrusive ham-fistedness has been thoroughly pissing me off for years and their stupid age restriction to prevent bright young people from having access to important information is just another dumb example of that. Fortunately, bright young people know that they only have to use an on-line YouTube downloader to completely bypass it. Stuff you, Google!

But the question is: Will it?

As long as Trump continues his stranglehold on the GOP he will be the nominee in 2024. And the GOP have clearly chosen not to reject him.

To be honest, I can't think of *any* form of death that would not have some conspiracy sprout up about it.

"Natural causes? It was a secret second cousin of Nancy Pelosi who treated him in hospital"

"Plane crash? Disgruntled aircraft mechanic/Chinese plot"

"Asteroid? NASA liberals plotted to steer it towards him"

.

.

.

etc.

I don't know about that. See my earlier comment about the nature of the top Retrumplicsns, would you rather have an incompetent crazy running things or a competent crazy?
