This sorta seems to fit best in this thread; yet another idiotic Republican governor is suddenly a deadly pandemic expert:Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Blames the Feds, Slams ‘Hysteria’ as Florida Shatters COVID Records with Omicron

Any headline with "Florida" / "Floridian" / "Floridan" is going to be bad.

Any headline with "Ron DeSantis" is going to be worse.

The Washington Post - National Security - AG Merrick Garland plans speech on Jan. 6 investigation for Wednesday

today

Attorney General Merrick Garland will give a speech Wednesday about the Justice Department’s efforts to investigate and prosecute those responsible for the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol, stressing the department’s “unwavering commitment to defend Americans and American democracy from violence and threats of violence,” a Justice Department official said.

In the address, scheduled for the day before the anniversary of the attack, Garland will not speak about specific people or charges ...

While I personally think they're doing a great job getting to the bottom of the background and aftermath of the riot, sadly I think most "Trumpers" either don't care or are so brainwashed by the lies he's fed them, they see it all as a "liberal/mainstream media/Democratic/insert-whoever-Trump-doesn't-like-here beat-up". Pathetic really.

Man, that was a difficult read. I don't know if a was translated from non-English, or just zero proof reading... I had to stop reading when it referred to Omicron as a "disturbing new strain of bacteria".

Yes sorry I picked it up from a Google search...but I think the moral of the story is still the same, ie, Ron thingo doesn't know anything about pandemics, but he thinks he knows everything.

Absolutely, the gist was clear.

A characteristic of truly stupid people is they are too stupid to realise how stupid they are.

The 'H' in News7H stands for 'Hindi', so yes, it was coming from non-English.

kingdragonfly: Irony of the Dunning-Kruger Effect

This is very interesting but it is actually about overconfidence, not stupidity. Overconfidence is based on ignorance, not lack of ability. An ignorant person is capable of learning more and becoming less overconfident. A stupid person is not. I believe the governor of Florida is a genuinely stupid person.

See above.

The New York Times  - Trump Cancels Jan. 6 Event, After Allies See It as a Distraction

breaking

Donald J. Trump on Tuesday abruptly canceled a news conference that he had scheduled at his Mar-a-Lago resort for Thursday evening on the one-year anniversary of the breaching of the United States Capitol. ...

In recent days it became clear that Mr. Trump’s news conference would not likely receive the kind of blanket cable coverage that he generally desires, and advisers urged the former president to reschedule for a day that would draw less attention to a low point of his presidency.

and ...

The Washington Post - House Jan. 6 committee requests information from Fox News host Sean Hannity

breaking

The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection is requesting the voluntary cooperation of Fox News host Sean Hannity, saying it has information that indicates Hannity had relevant communications with President Donald Trump and some White House staff leading up to the Capitol siege and in the days afterward.

I was surprised that Sean was telling Trump to pull his head in and call off his mob of thugs, I thought he (and Tucker what's-his-face) would have both been backing his claims of election fraud all the way.

Certainly some Fox news hosts are like Trump's lapdogs when it comes to his unsubstantiated election fraud bs...I remember reading somewhere that one of them (Maria something?) asked Sidney-I-think-I'm-a-lawyer-Powell about election fraud and Dominion Voting Systems. When Powell responded with a lie, Maria just said "Wow!" There was no challenge or request to back it up, it was taken as fact. Hence why I'm surprised that they're not all 100% behind Trump and his election fraud drivel.
